Billy on the Street’s Billy Eichner took to Twitter this past weekend to express his belief that Vice President Mike Pence is a homosexual, as right-wing website Heat Street none-too-fondly reports:
Pence is a closeted gay man who turned his self loathing into a political agenda 2 punish the part of himself he hates most. Enjoy the game!
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) February 5, 2017
Then there’s this equally unsubtle Tweet:
Mike Pence is gay.
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) January 26, 2017
Definitely succinct stuff.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
By this point, Pence is probably used to being trolled on Twitter. He’s already been lampooned by the likes of Mike Hot-Pence:

He was also compared (unfavorably) to adult film star Brad Patton in memes such as this:

Right now, there’s an ongoing Reddit thread in which community members are weighing in on what exactly to do with the antigay politician and “best defend ourselves from losing the rights we worked so hard to get.”
John2Nhoj writes:
None of Pence’s attempts at making laws against gays survived here in Indiana, because large businesses that make up a great deal of the state’s economy threatened to move out of the state.
Also: unless one announces that they are gay to every business they enter the business would have to prove they are gay. It would surely generate a lot of law suits if business only guessed that people were gay, refused to serve them and they weren’t gay.
Lastly: one could and still can be fired for being gay in Indiana long before Pence was in office here.
You can join that discussion here.

This is ludicrous. And Billy is a closeted straight man.
What does this achieve by throwing out rumors?
Brian
He’s not a bigot because he’s self-loathing. He’s a bigot because of his Christian upbringing, which was made more extreme when he began dating his evangelist wife.
Why do we do this? Why does that horrible hateful culture get absolved of responsibility just for a couple of unfunny jokes? We need to call this out for what it really is.

To paraphrase the late singer Juan Gabriel, “You do not need to question what can be plainly seen.” There is no other explanation for such brazen homophobia as that demonstrated by Pence and his fellow holy rollers. Supreme closet cases — every last one of them. They may as well wear pink labels on their lapels that say “SCREAMING POWER BOTTOM.”

I have to agree with your assessment. If I recall correctly, there’s even been studies on homophobia that suggest that most overt homophobia is caused by repression of either bisexual or homosexual feelings.
Anecdotally, I had a friend in college who was very clearly gay but didn’t appear to even know it yet, and he would spend hours and hours alternately reading the bible looking for contradictions or looking for science proving that homosexuality isn’t a choice.
Wouldn’t it be cool though if Pence came out while in office, and started partying with Milo Yiannopoulos in full queer effect?
MediaGuy
Can we stop using the threat of outing people as if it’s a bad thing? Being gay is nothing to be ashamed of. Yes, I get the whole hypocrisy thing, but still, stop acting like outing him is some kind of scandal. It’s not. Maybe the self-loathing writer of this “article” should check himself.
rj_inkglider
I think it might be a bad thing in the context of religion, either if one believes that we should respect other’s religious beliefs, or if the religion is so backward that outing can be dangerous, as is the case with Islam.
This becomes a bit of a quandary for SJW types, who often get into very hypocritical positions wrt Islam, which is even more homophobic/homocidal than Christianity. There are 13 Islamic countries where homosexuality is punishable by death, and many more where it is illegal.
Also they put Sharia-defending ‘feminists’ like Linda Sarsour into positions of power in their women’s march, remaining utterly silent if not indifferent to the millions of women and girls that are suffering FGM, forced marriages, gang rape, marital rape and abuse, repression and inequality under Islam.
If leftists want to be consistent, let alone comprehensible on their thinking about sexual minorities, they are going to have to start calling out the ideology of Islam for what it is: backward, barbaric and hopelessly incompatible with secular liberal civilization.
This can be done without promoting anti-Muslim bigotry, which is a real problem, and Islamophobia, which isn’t. Islamophobia is a Muslim brotherhood invented term designed to shut down criticism of Islam in western countries by conflating any criticism of Islam with racism. It’s too bad that overzealous liberals fell for the trap hook, line and sinker.

Yuck! Makes sense, but we don’t want him.

Liberal hypocrisy strikes again. The left like to label people as gay as a way to discredit or demean someone. Why does the left think that calling someone gay is an insult? Leftist liberals pull this card a lot with the other side by constantly throwing out rumors that they may be secretly gay as if being gay is something bad, BUT they’ll be the first to complain when someone they don’t agree with acts as if being gay makes someone weak or degenerate. Hypocrisy

@mhoffman953:
A usual, you hit the nail on the head, my friend.
Speaking of liberal hypocrisy (i.e., progressive dogma), you recently posted a a very eloquently worded list of liberal hypocrisies on this site, but I can’t seem to locate it. I was hoping to pass it along to those who have trouble grasping the concept. Any suggestions where I might look? Thanks in advance.
mhoffman953
@MoBro Sure. Its in this article in the comments: https://www.queerty.com/lgbtq-trump-supporters-complain-excommunicated-peers-20170122

@mhoffman953:
Thanks, man.

Would explain why he’s written in great detail about the sexual habits of gay men as if they are zoo animals, as well as explain the hair, that he at least has more than a passing interest in man booty sex.
Herman75
And then he showed up at Hamilton at the speed of greased gay lightning after winning the election.
Mo Bro
@Herman75:
Everyone who attends “Hamilton” is gay?
Not that you’re stereotyping us or anything . . .
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
Oh shit. I know there was a fake news story knocking about about pence undergoing gay conversion supposedly revealed in an interview. I hope dude has not fallen for that and has done his due diligence. Secondly, it’s a tired trope and MOSTLY wrong about *all* — or even *most* — homophobes being secretly gay — despite what that study said. Yes some of the loudest homophobes HAVE been gay (well duh. Isn’t that the best cover??) But most homophobia or indeed irrational hatred is indoctrinated through the family, religion or your particular culture. Most White Supremacists are not secretly Black. Most misogynists are not secretly women. Etc etc etc.
CaliKyle
Today, Snark is the fair and balanced voice of reason in this comment section. A couple others started off ok until they went right into bashing all liberals and progressive ideology instead of staying on topic. Tired tropes, indeed.

Mike Pence is pathetic, but so is Billy Eichner. Eichner is a talentless loudmouth who isn’t even remotely funny.

IMHO no one can be a closed “gay.” Being “gay” means, by definition, that you’re out and living as an out gay person. You can be a closet “homosexual” meaning you like to have same sex sex but you’re not identifying with a group who also engage in similar relationships. I think it does all self-respecting gays a disservice to identify harmful people like Pence as “Gay.” I don’t want such people to be part of my club.
I also agree with others here that it does all of us a disservice to call people “gay” (or a closet case for that matter) without proof. Regardless of past studies (which were probably as dubious as the ones they did on “homosexuals” way back when) it just looks like we’re all a bunch of bitter queens like Billy Eichner and gives the religious right more ammo. If you hooked up with him, or saw his profile on Grindr, by all means, but otherwise, he doesn’t belong to us.
Rocinante
I don’t know if the man is gay but the likelihood that hardcore anti-gay men have had significant feelings for another man at some point in their life is high. Couple that with the shame these thoughts bring about due to thousands of years of training that anyone having them is broken and less than and you get people like Pence and Sessions. If you believe in the theory, I do, that sexuality is fluid and it follows a typical bell curve, then most humans will have at one time had sexual urges around the same sex. Forced repression never ends in healthy psychological feelings add to that same sex shame plus the additional shame around anything sexual and you create a whole society of crazy people. What single feeling besides hunger and the need to breath is as powerful as sex, the desire for human contact?
Neonegro
More gay wishful thinking.
Yes some anti-gay persons are closeted gays, but that is a gay internal issue.
The vast majority of societies have been anti-gay, does that mean the majority of the planet’s population is made up of closeted gays?
Of course not.
