We’ve always been very open-minded. Listen, it’s all about love and light. Forget the negativity and the haters. She’s rocking and rolling and having a good time. What the world needs is love. There’s too much hate…The world needs positive influences.”
— Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who had a massive pop hit in 1992 with “Achy Breaky Heart,” speaking with E! News at the MTV Video Music Awards about the sexual orientation of his daughter Miley, who hosted the event
I wasn’t a fan during his heyday, but am consistently impressed by his replies when the press used to run to him for comment on Miley’s behavior. He has raised a sexy nutjob whose head is level on important life and political issues.
I know this sounds cynical but I wonder, since he only had one hit, who is paying the bills? Does that have any effect on his “acceptance” of her sexuality? Personally, I don’t consider anyone gay or strait until after the age of twenty-five. I know many people will are “they know what they are while in their teens” but I do feel that as kids mature their views on sex do as well.
I love her as she is but at her age I can’t accept her as gay or bisexual. She is just a kid exploring as far as I am concerned. She might turn out to be a Madonna, who did every damn thing she could think of to get those seats filled and she succeeded. Miley is nobody’s fool.
Well put, BRC.
@Bob LaBlah: That’s silly. I’m 24 – been with the same guy for 5 years and we’ve been married for almost 1. It’s hard to believe, but people do realize what they want. Then there are people who are just experimenting.
@parrjj01: I’m glad to hear it work for you. I think a lot of people thought as I did before twenty-five. Thoughts such as “maybe I should have a kid” or “do I really want to spend my entire life with someone of the same sex” and stuff along those lines.
Keep in mind, I did use the word I several times in my previous comment. I know we all DON’T think alike, and thats a good thing. You prove it by having a husband and a relationship that worked out. Good for you and I wish you the best of luck.
Oh, go away, Billy Ray. Your daughter comes across as a phony to me. She will say and do almost anything to get attention. Most women have a tendency to seek attention. The ones who claim to be bisexual are usually only doing it to prop up the sleazy straight guy fantasy for girl-girl action.
Perhaps you, Billy Ray, might like to talk about your sexual orientation for a change. Or is male sexuality a no-go zone for celebrities like yourself?
I wish Miley and her dad would stop being media/attention wh0re$ along with Bruce/Caitlyn and the Kartrashians.
@Clark35: I totally agree with you. Don’t let entertainers hijack the gay rights cause to serve their financial interests.
Is “stupid” a sexual orientation?
Didn’t he say a few years ago that “Satan”, and the music industry was corrupting Miley?
It’s great that he’s had a change of heart, that he’s “evolved”.
But it’s an outright lie to say he’s always felt this way.
..when upon reading the headline…Billy Ray Cyrus’s is excepting of Miley’s sexuality! well, probably because he’s a poof himself??
