John McCain’s got a bit of a problem: his spiritual guide, Rod Parsley. Yet more troublesome footage of the anti-gay Ohioan has surfaced. This time Parsley accuses the government of “black genocide.” And, yes, his theories are just as crazy as they sound. We have a feeling this will get more play than Parsley’s denouncements of the gays. But, of course, it’s not like black people or gay people vote Republican, so it’s probably moot. [HuffPo]

As I understand it, when Wright talks about the genocidal impact of government actions on Black communities, he referencing (and I could be wrong) prior actions such as slavery being legalized, Jim Crow laws, the impact of CIA action regarding drugs being shipped into the U.S., the impact of HIV (the only crazy part is where he claims the government created it, but other wise the indifference has been real until recently), etc. I don’t think, again, could be and probably am wrong that he’s referencing abortions.

Parsley isn’t going to be a problem for McCain.
As hard as one may try to link McCain to some of the crazy things said by those preachers who now endorse him, I just don’t think they are going to stick. McCain didn’t sit in their pews for 20 years and he didn’t name his book after them.
Just as Obama can’t really be responsible for the views of Donnie McClurkin, neither can McCain be responsible for Rod Parsley. To think that America is going to see this otherwise is nothing more than futility verging on desperation.
McCain is Episcopal (if anything, really) so whoever his home church pastor is (if he has one), he isn’t likely going to have been on the war path against gays. Or anyone.

Correction…. McCain is actually “a Christian” that was raised Episcopal and attends North Pheonix Baptist Church.

Don’t be so quick to dismiss what he’s saying. Margaret Sanger was a notorious racist – there’s a reason she took pains to engage black clergy to encourage birth control.
Facts are stubborn things.
