The apparently serious organizers of a “Straight Pride Parade” gathered for a press conference on Wednesday to announce they’d been given the green light by the city of Boston to move ahead with their event.
The parade will likely take place on August 31 with everyone’s favorite alt-right homocon troll Milo Yinnopoulos serving as Grand Marshal.

The group’s next step is to obtain a license from the city; Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has stated he cannot turn away organizers based on their values.

“Permits to host a public event are granted based on operational feasibility, not based on values or endorsements of beliefs. The City of Boston cannot deny a permit based on an organization’s values,” he said earlier this month.

The logic behind having a gay man be the grand marshal of a straight pride parade mystifies me. Why would Milo even want to do such a stupid thing anyway? This loser must be really desperate. He’s pathetic.

He just wants the publicity. They want to be able to say that there’s no way a parade with a gay grand marshal can be homophobic.
Plenty of gay pride parades have straight grand marshals, so there’s nothing wrong with the concept in theory. But they are clearly using him as a preemptive defense, not celebrating him as an ally.

To everyone here who’s triggered by this: loosen up. Who cares if they hold a parade? We don’t even know what will be in the parade, this whole thing sounds like a goof anyway, and these guys are just out to be a bit of fun. If it turns out to be something other than that, THEN be upset.

You’re right. Something similar happened in Boston right after Charlottesville in 2017. They tried to have a “white lives matter” parade and only a dozen people or so showed up, were surrounded by counter protesters, and holed themselves up in a gazebo, calling the police for protection. This will be right around the time students will be moving into the dozens of colleges that Boston has. They’ll have a difficult time getting anyone to notice them at all.
