THE YEAR AHEAD

Brad Goreski, Michael Musto, Nick Adams: Queer Stars’ New Year’s Resolutions Revealed!

By now you’ve probably made (and possibly already broken) your New Year’s resolutions for 2012. Were they the usual—lose weight, save money, stop watching Mob Wives marathons—or are you trying to reach new horizons in ’12?

We asked some boldface LGBTs what their resolutions are for this year, including Justin Bond, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover‘s Tabatha Coffey, Priscilla Queen of the Desert’s Nick Adams, Nurse Jackie‘s Stephen Wallem, gossip guru Michael Musto, Leslie Jordan and stylist Brad Goreski (above), whose reality series, It’s a Brad, Brad World, debuts tonight.

Now that it’s out there in the blogosphere, they’re gonna have to keep them, right?

Mx Justin Vivian Bond, singer/performer
“My New Year’s resolution is to werque myself more deeply into some high-level Wiccananigans and to straddle the cone of power with disarming intentions.”

Alec Mapa, actor/comedian
“Worry less, because worry is a misuse of the imagination. Currently I am replacing the thought ‘What if something awful happens?’ with ‘Wouldn’t it be great if everything went perfectly and I photographed 10 pounds lighter?’ ‘Wouldn’t it be great’ is far more peppy than ‘Wouldn’t it be awful.’”

Leslie Jordan, actor
“I resolve to drop my ridiculous fear that inanimate objects are out to get me. I am also going to finally get rid of my trusty LG flip-phone and wade into the scary waters of the iPhone. Yikes! And I am going to learn QuickBooks—or is that just going waaay overboard?”

Leslie Jordan’s latest films, Mangus! and The Help, are available now on DVD.

Billy B, celebrity makeup artist
“To be more ‘tech savvy’ so I can produce and edit my own porn—um, I mean, how-to makeup tutorials. And I also resolve to finally convince Drag Race judge Michelle Visage that she really is a biological female.”

Billy B returns as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Four, debuting January 30 on Logo.

Josh Strickland, dancer/singer
“To get involved with more charities and give back as much as I can. It’s awesome to see the faces of the people or animals that you help, and something simple could really change someone’s life. And I always have the ability to work out more!”

Josh Strickland currently stars with Holly Madison in Peepshow at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. Holly’s World: The Complete Seasons 1 & 2 is available now on DVD.

Anthony Rapp, actor
“To take care of the dangling household tasks: fixing the dishwasher, ceiling fan, kitchen light, paint job, blah, blah, blah. Very glamorous.”

Anthony Rapp stars in Dedalus Lounge, opening January 12 at Interart Theater Annex in New York.

Michael Musto, gossip hound
“My resolution is to not let fear get in the way of any potential signings of my book. A few months ago, I canceled a trip to a signing party in New Orleans because of a tropical storm alert that had led to a statewide weather emergency. In 2012, I will simply swim there holding a water-resistant Sharpie!”

George Kotsiopoulos, fashion editor/TV personality
“I am constantly, psychotically and neurotically striving to better myself all year long, so New Year’s is just another day to make yet another resolution. But if I must, it would be to upgrade from a two-point-five-pack to a four-pack—and hope for a six-pack. I really want those side muscles too. What do they call them? Oh, yeah, obliques. I also want some of those.”

George Kotsiopoulos co-hosts Fashion Police on E!.

Brad Goreski, stylist/TV personality
“To acquire more sparkly shoes!”

Nick Adams
“Drink less. Put down my iPhone. And each year I try to make another one of my dreams come true.”

Nick Adams currently stars in Priscilla Queen of the Desert at Broadway’s Palace Theatre.

Stephen Wallem, actor
1. Less Facebook, more elliptical. Actually, any elliptical at all.

2. More volunteer work, especially for causes I’m already involved with, like diabetes awareness and anti-bullying.

3. Stop texting ‘Whatcha thinkin’ ‘bout?’ to Edie Falco every 45 minutes.

4. More singing.

5. Finish my one-man show about Suzanne Pleshette.

6. Eat smarter.

7. Give in and do Dancing With the Stars after all. (God, they’re pushy.)

8. More game nights with pals. (Is there anything better?) Give in and play Eponine in the Les Miz film. (They’ll have to raise the keys, though.)

9. Be gentler with myself and more generous of heart to others.

Tabatha Coffey, hair stylist/TV personality

“Next year I want to give back more and take more time to work with the charities I support.”

Joe Zee, Elle creative director/TV personality
1. Dinner before 9: In 2012 I’m going to practice making reservations with an 8 in it or even—gasp!—a 7. Learn all the presidents and state capitals: I grew up in Canada so American history was never my big thing, but hopefully that will change this year.

2. Learn how to cook Asian food: I love cooking and I approach each meal like a Top Chef challenge, but I have yet to conquer Asian food. Shocking, I know.

3. Talk, don’t text. Hell, isn’t that why Steve Jobs invented Facetime?

4. Get married: Or at least know I have the option to every where in this country.

Joe Zee hosts the Sundance Channel’s All On the Line, which has its second-season finale December 30.
