The jury has spoken: Kathryn Knott has been found guilty of simple assault, conspiracy and reckless endangerment.
Knott was one of three charged following an attack on two gay men in September, 2014.
The other two pleaded guilty and accepted a generous plea deal — Knott insisted on going to trial.
NBC Philadelphia reports Knott was found “not guilty of more serious aggravated assault charges and not guilty of charges against the other victim.”

Kathryn was one of about 15 people who engaged a same-sex couple in downtown Philly in a verbal argument that quickly turned violent.
She claimed in court that she turned away when things got physical. “I didn’t want anyone getting hurt,” she said during her trial. “I was trying to calm the situation.”
NBC notes Knott “may have escaped jail time” because she was not found guilty of the more serious aggravated assault charges.

I just hope the sentencing is reflective of this. Glad to hear that the jury weren’t blindsided by the appeals on character by her cousin or influenced by her father’s position. (It’s going to be a bit awkward at the police station tomorrow, no doubt..!)

my take/reading is knot was convicted of 4 crimes. Simple assault,
conspiracy to commit simple assault and 2 counts of reckless endangerment
(1 count per victim). Each verdict carries a potential 2 year sentence for a max
of 8 years. Each count is a misdemeanor (less than a felony).
So, the the question is — will knot get jail time. The 2 guys convicted of more serious
charges (aggravated assault — felonies) — were not sentenced to jail. However,
the both reached plea deals, avoided trial, and accepted responsibility for their actions.
Knot, however, has not accepted responsibility and it seems perjured herself on the stand.
The judge will take this into account. It would not surprise me to see a 3 month sentence,
probation and fines.
I lengthy sentence will not happen, not really should it. She seems to have thrown punches
but did not cause the serious damage.

Kevin Harrigan pleaded to conspiracy and simple assault and received three years of probation 200 hours of community service in a LBGT center. It’s hard to take comfort in this – why is it that juries are so scared of throwing the book at someone that instead they choose to convict for a different crime that did not take place. The victims suffered serious injury which is aggravated assault. No “simple assault” took place.

When the most violent of the aggressors were given a plea bargain that included no jail time did people really think that she was going to face jail time? I personally don’t know what video footage shows of the situation so I have to trust the jury did what they could and handed down an appropriate verdict. Either way the verdict will have consequences that impact the rest of her life. She won’t be able to work in her profession anymore and her future will face a lot more obstacles in establishing a career. I hope she is able to grow, mature and learn from her actions and come out a better person when all is said and done. People make mistakes but that doesn’t mean they can’t grow from it. I hope both the victims can heal and move forward with their lives now and she comes out on the other side of whatever punishment she has as a better person who has learned and will never act like this again.

If you read the article that Queerty linked to it says that the jury could be heard yelling during deliberation. Also the jury foreperson is uber pissed with how things turned out and wanted her found guilty of the more serious charges. Obviously there must have been some jurors who thought she deserved the harher verdicts but in the end backed down to avoid a hung jury and her possibly getting off completely. Not surprised. Not just because of who she is but because I’ve spent time in Philly and I can’t say I have any positive memories of it or its people.

Any school district in the company can do an Internet search on her name and get a TON of information on her. Even if her record is somehow “expunged”…as they say, the Internet is forever!
Friend lost a job (that she applied for as a nurse) simply because she “said” something on Facebook that was “detrimental” and the hospital deemed it “inappropriate.” She is now looking for a position elsewhere.
