NEW DETAILS

BREAKING: Orlando Shooter Was A Regular At Gay Club Before Attack, Witnesses Say

UPDATE: In addition to the information below via the Orlando Sentinel, the LA Times is now reporting that Omar Mateen had an active account on gay dating app Jack’d.

Kevin West, a regular at Pulse, said he’d been messaging with Mateen off and on for a year, but that he’d never seen Mateen until the night of the shooting, early Sunday morning.

West had just dropped off a friend at the club when he recognized Mateen on the street from his Jack’d profile at around 1 a.m., just one hour before the attack began.

“He walked directly past me. I said, ‘Hey,’ and he turned and said, ‘Hey,’” and nodded his head, West said. “I could tell by the eyes.”

No fewer that four regular customers of Pulse, the Orlando nightclub that was the scene of last weekend’s horrific attack, say they recall seeing the shooter, Omar Mateen, drinking at the bar in the past.

“Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent,” Ty Smith, who also uses the name Aries, told the Orlando Sentinel.

He added that he saw Mateen at the club dozens of times before last weekend, when Mateen murdered 49 people and injured another 53.

“We didn’t really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times,” Smith said. “He told us he had a wife and child.”

Orlando Police say they do not have any information about these visits.

Another regular, Chris Callen, who performs under the name Kristina McLaughlin, told the Canadian press, “It’s the same guy. He’s been going to this bar for three years.”

Unclear in the reports is whether they think Mateen was there simply as a patron, or if he was possibly scoping out the scene of his future massacre.

Much ado has been made of the story that Mateen saw two men kissing in Miami a few months ago, and that the experience had shocked him in some way.

“That’s bullcrap, right there. No offence. That’s straight-up crap. He’s been around us,” Smith said Monday in an interview at the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.

“Some of those people did a little more than (kiss) outside the bar…. He was partying with the people who supposedly drove him to do this?”

Neither Smith nor Callen said they could speculate on Mateen’s sexuality, but they were both doubtful of the version of the story put out by Mateen’s father.

Enlightening. In the movie QUERELLE, by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, veteran French actress Jeanne Moreau sings the song “Each Man Kills the Things He Loves”.

  • Bob LaBlah

When I heard about his cheering the 9-11 terrorists on I had a feeling he was gay. That act alone was the sign of a kid who didn’t fit in with the others. I bet in high school he knew people but had no friends such a someone to regularly go to the movies and such with. This is what happens when you have to adhere to the strict code of religion just to please your parents but your sexual feelings are in another place.

I feel so sorry for many of those cute muslim boys who KNOW they see guys they are not only turned on to but could probably have in bed as well. But out of fear of religious teachings and shaming the family they remain frustrated. I wonder if the same thing happened to the couple in San Bernardino who clearly did not love their own child. What loving parents with a child to raise would do shit like that if they loved their child and its well being?

I tell you, the religious fools being given a green light to come here to America need to be put in their place and quick.

  • Kangol

OMG. I guessed this! It’s why I say over and over, HOMOPHOBIA, TRANSPHOBIA and CIS-HETEROSEXISM are the problem, not LGBTIQ people. Self-hatred can be so destructive. It it doesn’t eat a person up psychologically and physically it can lead to horrific acts like the Orlando Massacre this closeted, self-loathing terrorist committed.

This is also why homophobic and transphobic ideologies, whether spread by churches, other organizations, politicians, or unaffiliated people, are so destructive. They dehumanize people, just like [email protected], misogyny and sexism, classism, and so on.

If you have can’t deal with yourself and are full of hate, please get psychological help. It does work!

  • Billy Budd

The most repressed people are the most dangerous. Always.

  • GC1985

He was a repressed lone wolf who couldn’t accept himself and took it out on others. What a horrible, disgusting vile person.

  • Paco

This isn’t surprising. With a father that spews homophobic crap, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this guy was suffering with trying to come to terms with his father’s anti-gay rhetoric, a restrictive religion and his own sexuality. Internalized homophobia is so insidious and destructive.

  • Bob LaBlah

@MediaGuy: How much you wanna bet he has a profile on Adam4Adam…lets just say all of them? He looks the fisting party type to me.

  • Paco

gawker is reporting that two people claim the shooter contacted them on a gay dating app.

  • ingyaom

I’m sad to say the dude is hot. Too bad he was an f-ing psychopath. This is what fundamentalist religion (of any kind) can do to a man.

  • Billy Budd

This guy suffered for years living in a homophobic family. He was destroyed inside and must have felt like a complete outsider for decades. After he destroyed his own marriage (we know exactly what kind of men beat their wives), he decided to destroy the lives of the people he felt attracted to but couldn’t bring himself to love. Homophobia kills. Homophobia must end.

  • GC1985

None of this excuses what he did. This wasn’t really a Daesh influenced attack. It was the attack of a hateful lone wolf. He couldn’t accept himself because of his family. This all could have been avoided.

  • gayhope1990

@Gc1985:You’re so apologetic.Ah leftist and naivety. They must find excuses for evil actions.Poor terrorist I feel sorry for his victims not for him.Cops killed him hurrah

  • Billy Budd

@GC1985: Of course not. I suffered for decades with internal homophobia and I was sexually harassed by a boss when I was still in the closet, but I didn’t turn evil. It is a decision people make. He decided he wanted to die and he wanted to kill as many gay guys as he could. He was a horrible human being. Actually he was less than human.

  • seaguy

He had major internalized homophobia and likely used the two men kissing situation as a cover to keep hisd family from finding out he was gay. But none of that makes it ok to do what this pathetic terrorist did. Likely when he radicalized that just make his self hate of himself being gay worse, since ISIS is not known for being fond of gays.

  • Poncho Sanchez

It’s controversial, but I’ve asserted in the past that there is a possibly correlation between homosexuality and psychopathy……also, go back and read my post on this crime, I asserted that the shooter seemed like an oppressed homosexual….my psychological astuteness is starting to validate me.

  • GC1985

@gayhope1990: Piss off. I am so tired of your stupid moronic nonsense in every article. Apologetic? Where? You stupid punk. You arrogant closeted little freak.

You dont know me you airhead. You are too dumb and young to know what is going on.

  • GC1985

@Billy Budd: He should have just took his own life instead those of others. The man was sheer evil. He drove himself to madness.

So much for being apologetic. I can’t stand that gayhope idiot. No hope there with that closeted basket case.

  • Billy Budd

@Poncho Sanchez: Psychopathy has absolutely nothing to do with being gay and I proved you wrong before. I can prove you wrong again now.

  • Poncho Sanchez

@Billy Budd: One can agree that there are a lot of gay narcissist and generally the next step on the spectrum is psychopathy…..think of Jeffrey Dahmer or Charles Manson (bisexual)

  • Billy Budd

@Poncho Sanchez: Show me STATISTICS. One bisexual mass murderer doesn’t prove anything. The majority of murderers are straight.

  • gayhope1990

@Gc1985:I’ve got an uncle he’s gay.He knows who I’m like his boyfriend.I’m not closeted for them but my friends are straight and I don’t owe anything but for myself.

  • Poncho Sanchez

@Billy Budd: Well two mass murderers, in recent times, (special note: Adam Lanza had pedophile and NAMBLA literature on his computer, but I don’t officially classify that as gay, more a pedophile, still it is an alternative attraction).: Germanwings Alps disaster: Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz trawled suicide and gay websites before crash
    http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/germanwings-alps-disaster-co-pilot-andreas-lubitz-trawled-suicide-gay-websites-before-crash-1494044

  • Billy Budd

@Poncho Sanchez: Are you going to continue with isolated examples or are you going to bring statistics and hard data? I could mention thousands of murderers who are straight.

  • Poncho Sanchez

@Billy Budd: I provided some pretty major “islolated” examples.

  • gayhope1990

@Poncho Sanchez:99%criminals are straight.Lgbt people are people so they can be bad or nice like anybody.

  • Billy Budd

@Poncho Sanchez: The way I see it, internalized homophobia is just ONE of the reasons why a person MAY become a murderer. It happened in the case of this guy. But there are many other reasons, genetic or otherwise, that can bring a man to kill other people. Also, I never read anything linking psychopathy to homosexuality in my entire life. And I am a scientist and I read a lot. I am inclined to believe that if such a relation existed, the right wing nuts would already have used it against us.

  • Captain Obvious

Interesting how all the “It’s the terrorists!” “OMG the Muslims!” “OMG ISIS” folks magically all stopped shouting it. Tin foil caps removed and now there’s actually rational commentary outside of Muslim bashing and terror posting.

  • Stache

@Poncho Sanchez: Yes. I agree. Take someone like Ted Bundy who was a narcissist and straight. Absolutely there’s a correlation between heterosexuals and psychopaths.

Oh you meant gay. Yes. I see your point. Take someone like Jeffry Dalmer who was gay and had narcissistic traits. Therefore there is a correlation between gay and psychopaths.

  • Daniel-Reader

Maybe he was asking the classmate out and going to the club to find victims. He wouldn’t be the first dangerous person to seek out his victims. In Africa and the Middle East, heterosexual males feel they have the right to rape gay people because they think of gay guys as women, as lesser-than. He could simply be one of those types. I’d be looking for anyone who disappeared from the area during that time. Maybe this was just the end of a longtime attack against gay people.

  • Xzamilio

So, he pretty much grew up in a religiously oppressive home and bottled his sexuality until it exploded into a bloody rage that murdered dozens of people. So, I like I said… the individual and the religion. We don’t give Christianity a pass for breeding repressed homophobes willing to kill a man before admitting he has feelings for him, why the hell would Islam get a pass here when its tenets are just as homophobic and vitriolic?

  • GC1985

Who is giving a pass for anything?

    Who is doing it?

    Because I’m certainly not.

  • gayhope1990

@gc1985:Just to prove I’m not closeted because 2 people know my secret in my family.I’ve got a boyfriend since 2010 so I can’t be a self hated gay.Get real you don’t understand anything. No wonder you’re leftist.

  • gayhope1990

@GC1985:Because in Europe the lefties threaten lgbt right. There are gradually more and more Muslims in Europe and homophobia, biphobia and transphobia are in increase like antisemitism.Jews go to Israel because they fell unsafe, homophobic assaults booms in Europe owing to Islam. However leftists want to welcome more Muslims and ignore our complaints.Everywhere in Europe the far right can take control.Never Im going to vote for them because lgbt are targets for them too but…

  • Kangol

@Poncho Sanchez: Timothy McVeigh. Mao Zedong. Benito Mussolini. Francisco Franco. Mobutu Sese Seko. Kim Il-Sung. Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. Sukarno. Idi Amin Dada. Pol Pot. Joseph Stalin. Augusto Pinochet.

These are some of the notorious mass murderers in history. ALL of them are widely acknowledged to be heterosexual. At least half experienced what psychologists would term psychopathic or sociopathic behavior. NOT ONE WAS GAY. Why not provide Billy Budd with some stats, instead of coming onto a gay-focused website and spouting homophobic nonsense?

I mean, what is up with the homophobic crap on here? This is a gay site. A pro-gay site. So why are people pushing homophobic, transphobic, and [email protected] commentary on Queerty? Look in the mirror. It’s not just Islamists who are homophobic. The rhetoric some of you all are posting could come straight out of the anti-gay GOP or Catholic Church playbook. And that party, in case anyone forgot, is still trying to push anti-legislation in the US. The GOP has introduced 200 anti-gay bills over the last year! 50 people just lost their lives because of a closeted terrorist’s homophobia-fueled self-hate!

Let’s be LGBTIQ-affirming on here. There are more than enough places on the Net to post anti-gay claptrap.

  • GC1985

@gayhope1990: You are too ignorant. Your assertions are false. Conservative governments have let in immigrants in Europe. Your rants are stupidly misinformed. The far right in Europe is based in violence. You are one of the most disgustly misinformed on here. You are willing to sell out to the far right who offer nothing but fear and terror. You are full of sh*t! I have talked to people from Europe and they don’t even begin saying the sames things you say. stop acting like you are some kind of spokesperson.

  • GC1985

BTW the far right is in big trouble throughout Europe. Spain has seen the rise of the left including with Podemos. The same is the case in Portugal with the left wing government. The far right are utterly violent and are not wanted. Spain was also the site of one of the worst terror attacks since 9/11. Spaniards I have talked with aren’t afraid and I have visited Spain multiple times.

    You are not a spokesperson.

  • GC1985

@Kangol: We have some people echoing the GOP and the right wing in Europe. The same right wing that savagely attacks gays in Germany. There are many people willing to sell their dignity for false security.

  • Poncho Sanchez

    Well according to this web-site:
Criminologists estimate that at least 86% of male serial killers are heterosexual. While numerically less, homosexual serial killers include some horrific monsters, such as John Wayne Gacy (1942–1994) and Jeffrey Dahmer (1960–1994).
    http://facts.randomhistory.com/serial-killer-facts.html
So gays make up 14% of the serial killers. I guess it depends on what percentage of the population one believes to be gay to determine if that’s a high number. If gays make up 1-2% of the population, like some studies suggest, then gays are over represented as serial killers.

  • Billy Budd

@Poncho Sanchez: Please notice that the article (of disputable origin and reputation) says AT LEAST 86%. Notice the word AT LEAST.

  • Billy Budd

@Poncho Sanchez: Also, the “study” is totally based on estimation and not on hard data. It is said that “CRIMINOLOGISTS ESTIMATE”. Please notice the word ESTIMATE. You are not paying attention to the words.

  • Giancarlo86

@GC1985: You spend your whole life trolling on gay websites. You have multiple identities here. You impersonate me and others. You talk to yourself in the comments. You need to accept that you have a mental illness. You need professional intervention. You should see your doctor and ask for a psychiatric referral. You need help. ASAP.

  • Brian

Omar Mateen was interested in both women and men. Many men are like this but are forced to live double lives by resentful wives and resentful gays.

Women tend to be very resentful of men who have desires for both women and men. Such men disempower women. They destroy girl power.

Women want men to be totally dependent on women for sexual happiness. She finds it threatening when he can find sexual comfort in a male.

Even if the man expresses a desire for another man in words only, the wife will often file for divorce. Women are very intolerant of male homosexual desire in this context.

Still, Omar was a horrible, evil person.

  • ricardo1

@Billy Budd: Thank you! Internalized homophobia does not mean running out and killing 50 people!! This vile creature is above and beyond a standard-issue repressed gay man.

  • ricardo1

@Brian: Oh please. Most women are a little gay themselves and will admit to it more easily than the average (straight-acting) man. Plenty of bisexual men have good relationships with either men or women. This isn’t the 1950s.

Are we now not only excusing the killer’s mass murder (repressed feelings!) and also excusing his abuse of women (more repressed feelings!)?

Plenty of us have been harassed, closeted and dealt with discomfort over our sexuality. Almost NONE of us have taken out these problems violently on others.

  • ricardo1

@gayhope1990: They will ignore it until it gets extremely bad. Gays have been harassed, raped and even killed in Europe because of “refugees.” When will it end?

  • psionicomniverse

Right on que with the general mindset of most gay men, contradiction and cognitive dissonance.

Push for equality and fairness, while being one of the most self hating, bigoted communities on the planet.

  • gayhope1990

@Gc1985:Spain and Portugal are two rarities. In the UK,in Austria,in France,in Hungary,in Germany,in Sweden,in Finland or in Italy the far right can take control. In Austria the far right lost by only a few votes in the last election in 2016.Lgbt are not the puppets for leftist nonsenses, the right parties understand that because the gay community vote more and more for his rights. The left movements are not our friends, they chose Muslims.

  • Brian

@ricardo1: Only men are naturally bisexual. Women are not. Women simply don’t have the powerful sexuality of men to begin with.

If more women appear to be bisexual in America, it’s because they are rewarded for faking it.

  • Tobi

@gayhope1990: You’re absolutely right, Austria was on a knife edge, many of the smaller countries have closed their borders and both France and Germany are seeing strong gains by the right and far right. The UK also looks set to exit the European Union on the 23rd of this month, solely because of immigration. You only have to look towards Turkey and their constant demands to join the EU along with their threats of blackmail to open their borders if they don’t get their own way to realise what were up against, especially given one of their national newspapers headlined this tragedy as “50 perverts killed in bar”. Ugh.

  • Sluggo2007

Obviously, a tortured queer. I hope he burns in Hell (if there actually IS such a place).

  • Sluggo2007

I had a 2 year affair with a 24 year old Yemeni in my neighborhood. His family owned and ran the corner bodega. He couldn’t get enough of my BJs. He was also terrified that anyone from his country would find out, so when we passed on the street, we pretended we didn’t know each other. By the way, he was married too.

  • Stilinski26

His father has been linked to Taliban and said he has no sympathy for the victims and god will punish homosexuals.

  • Billy Budd

@Stilinski26: His father is a disgusting evil human being. He doesn’t even realize that HE probably was the main cause why this happened.

  • gaym50ish

As soon as we heard about this, my husband said the guy was probably gay, and this was an act of self-hatred.

    I think he was right.

  • Billy Budd

@Stilinski26: This guy had everything given to him in the US. He had a nice house, a nice job, he was even good looking. But he chose to die and kill just because he couldn’t bring himself to accept his sexuality. Notice how people say he routinely got drunk and had to be carried out of the gay club. He was certainly not just planning the murders then (years ahead of time). He was conflicted and suffering. He used alcohol in order to escape from the pain.

  • onthemark

@gayhope1990: “Just to prove I’m not closeted because 2 people know my secret in my family. I’ve got a boyfriend since 2010 so I can’t be a self hated gay.”

So, you still pretend to be straight to the REST of your family? Fake girlfriends and stuff? And how long do you plan to keep doing this, til you’re like 45?

    How brave of you. :)

  • GC1985

@Giancarlo86: I have one account fraudster. But keep at it. You are getting borrrriiiinnnnngggg. You keep recycling the same material. Do you have anything new?

  • GC1985

@gayhope1990: Except the left in all those countries you named is far more powerful. The far right in those countries are too stupid and incompetent. Come on.. You really don’t know what’s going on.

@onthemark: Yeah he is super brave lol. I am out to everybody. You are too right?

  • Billy Budd

@GC1985: When I totally [email protected] out of the closet all my suffering was GONE instantly. All the anxieties were gone. I strongly recommend everybody to come out as soon as possible. It is good for the cause but it is especially good for the person who does it. Coming out is the solution.

  • gayhope1990

No need to say to anyone I’m gay. It’s not their business.I didn’t date any girlfriend in my life so they can understand alone.Stop talking rubbish the leftists.

  • onthemark

@GC1985: Well, yes, and it wasn’t THAT easy to do in my 20s (back in the ’80s) but more importantly there are practical concerns. If someone is faking it and actively pretending to be heterosexual, how long can he continue the charade? In reality, nowadays, he can’t really. People in general are fairly aware of “gayness” and they figure it out. After the age of, say, 25, or at the latest 30, even casual acquaintances may have figured out you are gay. Whether you want them to or not.

This is what’s so dumb about “gayhope1990” & his attitude (esp. if he lives in the UK or some supposedly more enlightened place then here). A 30 year old closet case who’s had a boyfriend since 2010 and two family members “know his secret”? Well, who does he think THEY’VE told his “secret” to? People gossip a lot. And he’s, like, 30. He can’t be too bright. But we knew that. lol.

  • onthemark

@gayhope1990: “I didn’t date any girlfriend in my life so they can understand alone.”

Oh, we understand – literally everybody HAS figured out you’re gay, and you’re well aware of that, but you think being gay is shameful so you won’t talk about it. Even if your boyfriend is RIGHT THERE. Poor guy, he deserves better. :(

  • Ogre Magi

    Muslims are such rotten jerks

  • o.codone

@Giancarlo86: Giancarlo never shuts up. He is actually ruining the comments sections of queerty because he monopolizes everything. Multiple, multiple posts about the same rant about the same thing about his shitty politics and name calling. Here’s what i think. The guy’s in jail and has no other outlet for discourse. Or he’s disabled and cannot get out of his wheelchair, so he spends his time on here. Or his hands are somehow disabled so he is able to type but he cannot jerk off. Or other scenarios, but it is apparent this guy isn’t normal by any means. He’s been banned at least once and it was his lucky day when they took off the “flag” feature, because he was always being flagged for being a pain in the ass. He hates everybody, name calls constantly and he’s actually worse than Brian.

  • Billy Budd

Guys, in an interview for a Brazilian newspaper, the ex wife of the shooter said that he beat her, that he had homosexual tendencies and that his father called him a [email protected]

  • Tobi

@o.codone: I’ve actually just submitted details of @GC1985’s behaviour to the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov/ I find the ranting and hatred that @GC1985 is constantly expressing towards gay people in the comments here deeply disturbing. If nothing else, hopefully going forward they’ll keep a watch on @GC1985’s online behaviour or even better run some checks or make a home visit which will at least ensure that @GC1985 isn’t in possession of any guns or ammunition.

  • Stilinski26

@Billy Budd: At the end of the day it all comes down to religion. He was raised in a religious household! He was fed with the mentality that homosexuality is a sin and “God” will punish the homosexuals! So If he was gay then his action was due to the religious ideologies he was forced fed with his entire life because he wasn’t able to accept that he was gay!

  • Alistair Wiseman

    @Tobi:

To be honest with you, I really don’t think Queerty cares what Giancarlo does on their site. They probably look at it that he is good for business, regardless of his obvious mental health issues.

  • GC1985

@Tobi: LoL. I hate guns and I deplore violence. You are vile, tobi. Maybe I should report you to the authorities. You did defend under agesex if I recall. Quit your lying, you vicious little queen.

  • Brian

I think Omar faced two pressures – one from his father who allegedly called him a fag, and another from women who did not tolerate the fact that he was attracted to both sexes.

These dual pressures are awful and can cause men to go bananas. Let’s face it – men are very sexual creatures who can swing both ways. However, there is ENORMOUS pressure on men to play by the rules that their male peers and women set for them – ie to be virile and to be sexually attracted only to women.

I don’t want to paint Omar as anything other than a cold-blooded murderer but I do want to point to the pressures that men are put under by men and women in relation to their sexuality.

  • GC1985

@o.codone: Says the guy who admitted he has drug problems and got kicked out of the military because of it. Yeah sure. You are so believable. Another one that should be on the watch list because of your incredibly violent viewpoints.

Tobi is upset because I called him out on his defense of a highly illegal act.

  • GC1985

You want me to go away so you can’t have someone questioning all the BS you are posting? Wow. What a shocker. You right wingers cannot defend your vile violent viewpoints.

  • Zekester

At last, Queerty has found the angle to this story to feed its “Straight” closeted c*cksucker fetish.

  • Zekester

@Poncho Sanchez: Then why do you say that there seems to be a correlation between homosexuality and psychopathy instead of saying that there seems to be a correlation between closeted, self-hating homosexuality and psychopathy? Had you stated the latter I don’t think there’s a person here who would have disagreed with you. We’ve been on the receiving end of the psychopathy of angry, self-hating, fundamentalist religious closet cases for DECADES. But it’s disgusting and shameful to say that there is a correlation between homosexuality and psychopathy. It’s the CLOSET and not the orientation that is correlated with psychopathy.

  • Tobi

@GC1985: It’s unbelievable, you really seem oblivious to how much you’re embarrassing yourself. I can only presume you were bullied as a kid or are in a menial job where no-one respects you. Fine, I can appreciate how difficult it must be if you feel irrelevant out there in the real world, but you then need to recognise that all your vicious name calling here isn’t going to get you some kind of deferred payback for that. You just appear pathetic.

OK, let me try and help. The reason we are all now asking you to go away is because you’re no longer just a figure of fun, like Brian. You’re coming across as an obnoxious little bully who appears to spend their whole life trolling websites and calling people Nazi’s, paedophiles, etc. It’s sometimes been a laugh watching you throwing carpet-gnawing conniptions, but on sensitive, tragic topics like this one, your spewing abuse at people isn’t funny in the slightest. It makes me concerned that you might be an actual danger to others out there in the real world, hence my reporting you to the FBI.

You need to recognise that your behaviour here is truly disgraceful. It’s actually disgusting to do what you’re doing on stories like this where forty-nine people have lost their lives and countless others are injured. Go away, hang your head in shame, and as others here have already suggested, get yourself some professional help. If as you claim, you’re past middle-age, then it’s time you mentally grew up and stopped behaving like a five year old throwing a tantrum.

  • Keebler ILF

I’m reading other reports online saying some witnesses are being prevented from giving their accounts of what happened. One says that while the shooting was occurring, someone was blocking an exit and preventing people from getting out, suggesting that he wasn’t acting alone.

Closet cases are selfish cowards and they are the worst. They are the real enemy of the LGBT community – not brainwashed Kim Davis’. It is because these cowardly men (many whom marry women because “OMG society/religion will judge me”) that people continue to be homophobic. *Everyone* has a gay friend or sibling, they just refuse to come out. Gays can’t complain about the gay community not having visibility then refuse to come out. But apps like Grindr lets these guys have their cake and eat it too.

  • zooby

@gayhope1990: You can try to justify your cowardliness by saying “the janitor at my school knows” for all I care. It is selfish people like who are ruining the LGBT community. The anti gay bigots want us to stay in the closet and have no visibility (“why do we need to come out? you don’t see me telling people I am straight”) so you’re pretty much giving them what they want. Selfish.

Nice try blaming it on internalized homophobia. But this bastard was BORN AND RAISED in the United Stated, not in Afghanistan. Besides, he was a radical Muslim terrorist. So, let’s not sugarcoat his actions.

  • Xzamilio

@Vartan X.: Yeah, and you’ll find that fundamentalists in America raise the same kind of repressed homosexuals that they would in the middle east or Africa, Muslim or Christian. Where there’s a fundie, there’s an LGBT kid dying on the inside and growing up to be a damaged individual. But, yeah, I don’t put this all on his being repressed… plenty of us grew up in religiously oppressive homes and didn’t grow up and shoot up gay clubs. But, it almost makes sense with his sexuality; it was like he was trying to obliterate the part of him he grew to hate. I will say that homosexuality in Islam is a lot more frowned upon than in Christianity, except in Africa. The land of my ancestors is backwards as fuck surrounding LGBT people.

  • Tobi

@Xzamilio: I’ve read many African tribes were much more accepting of homosexuality before slavery and western missionaries forced their prejudices and misguided moralities on them. I have fond memories of travelling in the Middle East during the 1960-70’s when homosexuality was quietly accepted. In fact we used to joke that a good muslim host would never hesitate to offer his eldest son to warm a guest’s bed. I think the rise of the Ayatollahs, regime changes, the axis-of-evil, culminating in the wars means we must bear some responsibility for kicking a hornets nest and bringing all this hate down around our ears. The Chilcot Report is due out at the beginning of July. Former prime minister Tony Blair appears to be seriously panicking given that rumours say it’s absolutely brutal in savaging him and his compatriots for starting all the unnecessary conflict.

  • Xzamilio

@Tobi: I’ve read those, too. Many societies were more accepting of homosexuality before religion and colonialism. As a black man, I wouldn’t dream of living in any other time than now, but I imagine it was a hell of a lot better for some gay men and women before religion as we know it now took a stronghold.

  • Brian

The Orlando shooter did not identify as gay. He is entitled to not identify as gay. You have no right as a community to compel a man to identify as gay.

If he had sex with men, that’s his right to do so without having to identify as gay.

  • zooby

@Brian: So a man who has sex with men can identify as straight? Please. Quit trying to convince yourself that you’re straight while having sex with men, that doesn’t change the facts.

Can a person who is black choose not to identify as black? He can, right? But he’d look a bit ridiculous, don’t you think?

  • OzJosh

He certainly took a lot of bathroom selfies for a straight married man. What were they all for?!

  • Keebler ILF

    @Tobi:
Some of those muslims are still offering up their sons (and daughters) to other men. Our soldiers based over there witnessed this and were horrified and wanted to do something about it. But they were told by their superiors to mind their own business.

  • GC1985

@Tobi: You’re an awful disgusting person in every sense of the word. Are you still allegedly defending grown men going with underage kids? Wake up dude, you’re a nobody and you’ll never amount to anything in life. You are a pathetic thing indeed.

You can type a lot, but you don’t have much in the way of content. You’re a sad person indeed. Maybe you need some help? Somebody you can talk with?

” It’s actually disgusting to do what you’re doing on stories like this where forty-nine people have lost their lives and countless others are injured. Go away, hang your head in shame, and as others here have already suggested, get yourself some professional help.”

Like what others? The incredible 3 Trump supporters on here? Get real. I’m not the one who dishonored them. You walked all over their memory. You are a disgrace in every sense of the word. You don’t care for who lost their lives and who are injured. You only care about scoring some points just like the Trump supporter. IF it was up to me, you would have been banned a long time ago!

  • GC1985

Tobi has clearly dishonored the memories of those who died. He is on here making a ruckus and scoring some points because he’s a egotistical little man like Donald Trump.

  • Tobi

@GC1985: “He is on here making a ruckus and scoring some points because he’s a egotistical little man like Donald Trump.”
You’re so delusional, you don’t even realise, you’re projecting, you’re actually talking about yourself.

  • Tobi

@Keebler ILF: You’re so right, it’s a global scandal that keeps getting swept under the carpet, especially given that some forces, for example UN peacekeepers, appear to have been regularly taking advantage of such appalling situations. http://d.pr/14auo

  • rcktetr

Hate to say it but he was a very very attractive man. No doubt. Doesn’t make someone a good person. Probably more dangerous actually. As much as I understand how hellish the closet is, this guy was bad news. Obviously.

  • Brian

@zooby: Maybe you just can’t accept that the gay and straight identities are choices. They are not endowed upon you by Mother Nature. They are choices, pure and simple.

Now, that is quite different from the issue of natural sexual feelings.

  • o.codone

@GC1985: GET THE FUCK OFF OF QUEERTY BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR ANY OF YOUR RHETORIC ANY MORE. YOU HAVE SAID TOO MUCH. SO, JUST SHUT UP AND GO AWAY.

  • zooby

@Brian: Just like you probably can’t accept yourself? You know, for a guy who claims that it is a choice, you sure do spend a lot of time on a website for gay men. You clearly have some big issues, or you’re just a troll. I’m going to hope and go with the latter.

  • GC1985

@Tobi: Tobi is losing what’s left of his little mind in illogical ranting.

Druggy boy codone, you don’t control this site so why don’t you leave?
