Brett Ratner’s Not Producing The Oscars But He Is Producing A New GLAAD Video Campaign

Back in November, Hollywood super-producer Brett Ratner—no stranger to foot-in-mouth disease—angered the LGBT community when he said rehearsing was “for fags.” (He probably pissed off a few actors too.)

The Tower Heist mastermind apologized and stepped down as the producer of the 84th annual Academy Awards. Now, after a weekend meeting with GLAAD and Hollywood powerhouses Brian Grazer and Bryan Singer and Adam Shankman, Ratner will be working with the nonprofit on an upcoming series of videos. The clips will feature various celebrities and politicians “‘coming out of the closet’ as supporters of equality,” a statement from GLAAD read.

“Working together with GLAAD has been a very positive and enlightening experience for me, and I could not be more pleased to be developing this crucial campaign to help educate people that we all share the same humanity,” said Ratner. “I am excited to get to work on this program and hope that minds and hearts are opened by what we create.”

Did a powwow with GLAAD change the worldview of a man who once claimed to have made a very young Lindsay Lohan get checked for venereal disease? Probably not, but now we can finally see a PSA with some kickass fight sequences, explosions and car chases.
