Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, will step down from his daughter’s conservatorship. Full stop.
Jamie’s move is a huge win for Britney, who has been under the conservatorship for the last 13 years.
During that 13 years, Britney was able to perform, hold a Vegas residency and bring in hundreds of millions of dollars.
As Variety reports, “Spears’ dad filed in Los Angeles Superior Court his response to the singer’s petition for his suspension, announcing his decision to step down. However, his attorney states that there are ‘no actual grounds for suspending or removing’ him, and cites the ‘public battle with his daughter’ as his reasoning for stepping down.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate under Probate Code section 2650. And it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests,” the court documents state.
It continues: “Nevertheless, even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests,” the filing continues. “So even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator. As the Court has likely surmised, before Ms. Spears’ new attorney arrived, Mr. Spears had already been working on such a transition with Ms. Spears’ former court-appointed counsel, Sam Ingham.”
Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, put out this statement in response:
“I announced in Court on July 14 that, after 13 years of the status quo, it was time for Mr. Spears to be suspended or removed as conservator and that my firm and I would move aggressively and expeditiously for that outcome.”
“Twelve days later, my firm filed a Petition for Mr. Spears’s suspension and removal based on strong, insurmountable legal grounds, which were unequivocally supported by the law and all parties involved, including Jodi Montgomery, Britney Spears, and her medical team,” the statement continues.
“We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. It is vindication for Britney. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others. We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future.”
The statement adds: “In the interim, rather than making false accusations and taking cheap shots at his own daughter, Mr. Spears should remain silent and step aside immediately.”

Good. While I’m not all into the “Free Britney” thing I feel like her father should never had been made a permanent conservator in the first place. He’s a sad sack. I hope this brings her some peace while she moves to put in place somebody she is more comfortable with. I don’t have any clue as to whether or not she needs to be under this much control, only those with 13 years of facts do, but it’s good to see her wishes are being taken into consideration.

Lots of room for speculation here. One could easily believe Daddy knows when he’s about to be exposed for skimming the cream from Britney’s continued income. I won’t deny that she, as well as probably every other high income performer, could benefit from good financial advisors with proper checks and balances in place, but to have been able to continue the past 13 years being a very profitable performer, it seems she should be trusted to handle her own money. If she’s incapable of handling finances, she wouldn’t be the first celebrity to break themselves. IMHO, she needs a well vetted, diverse financial team to guide her in money decisions.

Britney Spears is a heterosexual woman. Her father is a heterosexual man. How is this story gay news?
Bonuscheque
….because gay people like you will click on the article and leave a comment. Cleary this is news at your house.

I see no matter what Screename the right wing troll is under it still keeps trying that same old attack on this site of “Why is this relevant”.
Sweetie, I love that you know so little about the group you’re trolling that you would ask that question.
Your troll game is pathetic and embarassing.

The “Free Brittany” people are doing her a disservice. Do they not remember how her bizarre behavior escalated the last time?. Have they not noticed her behavior of late?
Let the people who know more than you make the decisions to keep her safe. If you really care about her!!!
Bonuscheque
Just curious what you have seen what behavior are you referring to?
Cam
Yet Charlie Sheen, Mike Lindell, and Elon Musk aren’t under conservatorships.

Her father is scared. He clearly stoled money and knows that he will no be exposed. If she had no money, nobody would care about her – this is all about money. Even if Britney blows all her money and makes bad decisions SHE IS A GROWN WOMAN and should be able to do what ever the FFFFFF she wants. Her father has forbidden her from driving for 13 years so the photos of her driving her Mercedes all alone yesterday are just AMAZING. This woman needs to be free and hopefully she will stop taking all the medications she has been forced take all these years.

While has mental health issues, but there are plenty of people with mental health issues who work, live their lives and thrive. Her family let her get scammed and then they stepped in with this conservatorship and fleeced her. I hope she has STRONG support around her to help with her next chapter.

I’m sure her scumbag boyfriend will take her every penny she makes. This is a woman who married Kevin Federline and then married someone else for 24 hours in Vegas. This is a woman who gets F’d up, shows her beaver to the paps as she gets out of her car and used to drive with .her kids on her lap. No wonder her father thinks she needs to be supervised

The good thing to come out of this is that she will finally be able to get pregnant, which is what she has wanted for so many years! I say kudos for Britney, cannot wait!
Cam
Interesting that as soon as she gets a qualified attorney she gets her way.
You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune on an attorney to get the courts to listen to you but apparently that’s what it took here.

Her father has stepped aside – no doubt the new attorney uncovered some questionable stuff he has done over the years- but Britney’s still a conservatee. After so many years, unless there’s some demonstrable huge fraud by the psychologists and other medical professionals involved, I can’t see any judge lifting the conservatorship until there’s a reevaluation and a recommendation by the (new) psychology/medical team – including a court investigator – that she doesn’t need the conservatorship. Her new attorney no doubt can influence which professionals make up the reevaluation team. Let’s hope things proceed as it seems they should and it will be soon that Britney is back in charge of her own affairs.
OhPlease
Something that is intentionally ignored by outlets that are riding this meme (and may have violated her HIPPA rights by initiating the claim to end it…): Britney is profoundly mentally ill, has a long history of self harm and was judged by the courts to be a direct danger to herself and others which resulted in loss of child custody. She’s shown no actual signs of improvement even by her own family and business associates’ indications. Sure hope the media plans to pony up money for her funeral if they take her off conservatorship because that is exactly how it will end!
curiobi
But she can work and earn millions for her greedy father whike oh so profoundly ill. Shut up, go shill somewhere else.
