I know it will never be a good time for these bigots, but couldn’t the teacher use better judgment and give these cards out after Nov 4th? Come on, we are trying to keep our rights. Why scare the people on the fence?

Did you guys read the article? Val Joyner, District spokesperson told the Hayward Daily review that the cards were intended for middle school and above and “they are reviewing their materials.”
Sheesh….no wonder people hate the school system if a kindergarten teacher has no more sense than to pass out those kinds of cards without questioning…

I agree that this particular pledge card was inappropriate for kindergarten children, but more because it was worded a bit above their likely education level. I think it’s absolutely right to teach kids as young as that not to use slurs or bully other children.
I’m not sure I’m willing to go so far as to suspect the teacher of doing this specifically to give the Yes on Prop 8 folks something to belly-ache about, though. Seems like an honest, if slightly misguided, attempt at teaching kids good habits.
