Most of the time it stays the same(lesbians who were straight guys pre-transition or straight women who were gay guys pre-transition), but I went from a bi guy pre-transition to being a straight woman. Hormones are a hell of a drug.

@Rockery: There is. Trans men have the options of metoidoplasty or phalloplasty when it comes to SRS. I seriously doubt that a small adjustment to hormone levels will change sexual orientation. When it comes to the trans people who notice changes in sexual orientation, their bodies are doing a complete 180 from what they were used to before and basically going through puberty again.

I think that the surgical options for phalloplasty are not very good, yet. If someone knows better, let me know.. but last I knew of it, transmen really never get to fully have a working dick. Which is sad. We should all be able to look the way we want to.

@Rockery: Russia routinely forces sex hormone therapy on lesbians. They usually lock up gay men in jail on trumped up charges. Families force lesbians to be institutionalized, where they are forced to take hormones in an effort to change orientation. It doesn’t work.
In general, the trans community is one we don’t understand well and have unfortunately and begrudgingly added T to GLBT.

When he looked female and dated women many people thought he was a lesbian. But he was actually a bisexual guy – and probably most, if not all, of the women he dated were were bisexual women.

But for individuals who can find the finance and are willing to undergo five or more years of multiple surgical procedures and long periods where having sex is difficult if not impossible the end results can be pretty amazing.
