This is a beautiful strategy. CalPERS is a GREAT retirement system that’s privately funded (by California state employees). It is liquid, consistently in the black, and is a great example of how to manage a retirement fund.
The argument is whether a system sponsored by a state with Employment Equality standards should adhered to the state’s protections or to the protections of the body that regulates it – in this case, the Federal Government.
It’s a very interesting discussion of state vs Federal governance. Should be interesting.
On that note, Queerty, this case was filed in Riverside, CA. That’s, oh, I dunno, about 400 miles to the southwest. Small geographic error, I’m sure.
