It’s gonna be a bloodbath. To mark the 40th anniversary of Carrie — Brian De Palma’s genre-defining horror classic — the weSpark, Ace Hotel and Scream Factory are hosting a Halloween season screening party with cast and crew in attendance. The lobby of the Los Angeles Ace Hotel will be fully decked out for a rampage-free senior prom circa 1976, complete with a costume contest, photo booth, “Bloody Carrie” cocktails and a live DJ.
40 years ago, Brian De Palma helmed the ultimate coming-of-age horror film with Stephen King’s Carrie, a story both celebrated and revered by cinephiles and ultimate horror fans alike.

The star-studded cast and crew reunion is set to include Carrie stars Academy Award-nominated Piper Laurie (The Hustler), Nancy Allen (Dressed to Kill, Robocop), P.J. Soles (Halloween), Academy Award-winning editor Paul Hirsch (Star Wars: Episode IV) and Casting Director Harriett B. Helberg (The Jazz Singer). The cast will participate in a live Q&A moderated by Bryan Fuller (the creative genius behind TV’s Hannibal, Pushing Daisies and the upcoming series American Gods and Star Trek Discovery).

This movie is a work of genius. It is in my top 200 list. Please don’t watch the new version. Watch the 1976 original because it is the only one that is praise worthy. My favorite scene is the final confrontation “sin never dies” with Carrie’s religious fanatic insane Mother, when she seems to be having an orgasm as she is stabbed repeatedly by kitchen knives thrown towards her by telekinetic power.

Not one word about Sissy Spacek. She WAS the show. Without her presence this celebration is all a bit of a yawn.

There are certain experiences that stick in your mind. The reaction of the theater audience to the shock ending of ‘Carrie’ is one of them. I wonder how many wet seats were left in the theater that night.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. I am tempted to call Dish and ask them to stop showing that and the remake of The Manchurian Candidate with Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep. Some classics simply need to be left alone. Every one involved in The Godfather Part 3 regrets agreeing to do it, including the star, Al Pacino. That was so awful it is NEVER aired even on late, late night cable.

COMPLETELY AGREE!!! “and it is notable for being one of the few horror films to be nominated for multiple Academy Awards. Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie received nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards, respectively.” Also Piper Laurie was done with acting until she did this movie.
Find it on blue ray and watch all the bonus features TOTALLY worth the time.
