After issuing a quick Twitter mea culpa yesterday, Carson Daly has done the LGBT community one better and met with GLAAD.
Daly originally joked: ““Most of the people [on board] were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas. It was, like, a bunch of dudes and well-trained dudes, thank God. With my luck, it would be like, this is the flight going to [gay Pride] in San Francisco… I mean, that would be my colleagues.”
Post-GLAAD meeting, he issued a longer statement:
We live in a time where gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals find courage every day to overcome adversity, stand up to bullying and find equality. I’m truly saddened that my words today suggested otherwise. I’ve long been a supporter of gay, lesbian, and transgender rights, and I’m saddened that my comments, however unintentional, offended anyone, specifically members of the LGBT community.
The fact that I have hurt anyone is devastating. I’m not that guy. I’m proud to be an ally of the LGBT community and will continue to fight with them.

He stereotyped gay people as florists. That particular stereotype went out with leisure suits and Mr. Roper. How gay friendly can you be if you’re trotting out cliche’s as outdated as that? This suggests that he doesn’t really know very many gay people. No matter what he says, he made the joke, so he IS that guy.

So apparently after you project your ignorance and tired str8t boy stereotypes, all you have to do is meet with GLADD and you get a get out of jail free card from the LGBT community.
How about GLADD hold these people accountable for being adults. Children apologize for saying things they don’t mean. Adults say things they mean, otherwise they would not have
said it. What he said was not taken out of context, nor was he under duress when he said it.

Write a big enough check and GLAAD will “forgive” anything. I’d like to know who appointed them voice of all gay people on the planet, because they don’t seem to speak for many who frequently disagree with them.
GLAAD is a joke, always pandering to celebrities, and really doesn’t do anything for the rest of us. One big PR campaign tool lining pockets and helping no one.

Yes he apologized, it seemed sincere, and that is appreciated.

Not once did he say he is sorry for what he said. Instead, he position his statement by saying “I am sorry some were offended by my comments”. What a hateful little thing!

Regardless of what he said before, this was not a true apology. He didn’t apologize for being offensive, he just said he was sad that anyone was offended. There is a big difference and I far as I can tell the whole apology thing was just BS. The fake apology makes me think he is a douche bag.

Now, I’m not big on GLAAD either cause frankly, I don’t even know the first damn thing about them. I do know however that they are quick to grab a bitch by the balls if they so much as utter the first syllable of a gay slur, so maybe you don’t like them or understand them (as I don’t, lol) but they actually do good things for us.
