SOUNDBITES — “The Muslim nations of Iraq and Afghanistan, where America is fighting two wars, are opposed to homosexuality. Changing ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ would offend the terrorists in such a way that could put soldiers — and America — at risk of further terrorist attacks.” —Missouri State Sen. Gary Nodler, who is running in the Republican primary for Rep. Roy Blunt’s federal House seat, telling fellow lawmakers why Obama should not repeal DADT, and adding a whole new ridiculous “Don’t offend terrorists” argument to the debate (via)
MI Sen. Gary Nodler
Sexy Rexy
Well, now, we don’t wanna offend the terrorists, as their happiness and comfort are of the highest priority to us.
DillonS
Um, everything we do offends them. Women in combat offends them. Women not wearing a burka offends them. So we should care why?
romeo
Hey, Nodler, they’re even more offended that we’re not muslim, douchebag.
B
Don’t be too hard on Gary Nodler – he’s from Missouri, which elected John Ashcroft to the U.S. Senate. Ashcroft turned out to be too much for them and when he ran for reelection, they voted for a dead guy to replace him (his opponent died during the campaign but people decided they’d be better off with the governor appointing someone rather than sticking with Ashcroft). As Attorney General, one of his major claims to fame was spending $8000 on curtains to cover up the statue of the lady holding the scales (she’s topless).
It’s surprising that Nodler isn’t even sillier given that sort of history!
Queertirific
Um —- Nodler’s an Asshat in MO, not MI.

This is one of those great examples of the Right doing the work of the Left. Please keep up the crazy talk Mr.Nodler. You are doing wonders for our cause.

That Senator Noodlehead is more concerned with offending terrorists than he is with offending some 15-20 million, born-in-America citizens who help pay his fucking salary, says more about him than anyone could possibly conjure up words for.

@Queertirific: @Queertirific: yeah, I came in here ready to express my shame for being from MI, but we don’t own this butthole, i’m happy to say. lol
Robert
repealing don’t ask, don’t tell will cause additional terrorist attacks? nice to see the concern. what about invading iraq and killing civilian men, women and children? might that not breed a little extra terrorism? just sayin’
fredo777
sorry for the double post of the “reply tag”.
schlukitz
I was thinking the exact, same thing, Robert.

The only people who have not been made painfully aware that these folks are just reaching for straws are the ones who are either asleep or comatose.
These assholes will say anything, and EVERYTHING, to “bolster” their argument against gays openly serving.
It’s pretty pathetic.

Huh? Nobody mentioned Michigan (which is what MI stands for), and both Nodler and Ashcroft are from Missouri.
Same Crap
@B: The queertard editors did.
“MI Sen. Gary Nodler”

@B: yeah, they did. it’s the caption above the link/headline for this post.

@B:
In the tag line linking to this article from the main page, it says MI, not MO in reference to where the asshole is from. Its not listed directly in this article.

…. it’s not on the main page anymore, and not in title I found doing a search. You also won’t see it if you click on one of the “comment” links.
It seems to be on another site (the reached by clicking on “via”
near the top of this page), but that mentions Missouri as well.
If it was on a description on the QUEERTY main page, they probably got it from http://thinkprogress.org/2010/02/11/missouri-dadt/ and blindly copied it.
With QUEERTY changing the main page so quickly, and with multiple ways of reaching an article, it is worth providing more details as to how and where they screwed up.
B
Oh … just found the MI thing on the main page. It’s the usual stupid web convention of gray text on a black background, encouraging people to ignore it as it is harder to read than the description or article title.

To quote Ann Coulter (I know, all right?) “I don’t want to make terrorists love us, I want to make them dead.” Hell, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
spindoc
Gee, then I guess that means that we shouldn’t allow women to vote over here or go outside without a male relative. Because that is of course what the U.S. Military is supposed to be doing….forcing the backward 14th century cultural norms of a failed society on us. Gee, thank you Senator.
schlukitz
That was a good one. Thanks for the chuckle, Geoff.:)
