Charlotte trainer Jack Attack on why guys should rock leggings “just like the girls”

This post is part of Queerty’s “Prepared” profiles, a series of interviews with models, trainers, dancers, and, well, people who inspire us to stay in shape–0r just sit on the couch ogling them instead.
Name: Jack Attack, 42.
Hometown: I live in Charlotte, NC.
Occupation: Personal Trainer.
Favorite Gym: In Charlotte, the best gym is The Dowd YMCA.
Favorite Exercise playlist: I don’t generally listen to music specifically to workout, but if I do it’s randomized list of pop from the 80’s and 90’s.

Favorite Workout Food: I prefer to workout fasted. If I eat anything beforehand, it tends to be an apple or orange.

Favorite Workout Attire: When I workout at home, it’s my underwear only. Ha! At the gym, I like this new fashion: the guys wear compression tights. It took long enough for the boys to start wandering around in leggings like the girls.

How do you balance staying in shape and having fun? It will sound ridiculous, but I don’t need to balance staying in shape with having fun. Most of everything I enjoy isn’t going to undermine my fitness. Plus, I’m 40-something, and “fun” has changed since I was 20-something.

Best Workout Tip: The best general tip I can offer is quality over quantity. No matter what you do, remember to do it with good form. Don’t sacrifice safety and technique to crank out ugly work.

What do you keep on your nightstand? My earplugs, my daily/nightly pills, and my morning powders.
