Tired of having to explain to your conservative relatives (or Log Cabin Republican acquaintances) why you’re voting Democrat in November? Marriage Equality USA has whipped up a handy-dandy chart illustrating how the two parties platforms’ differ on LGBT issues.
Just print out multiple copies and hand one to anyone who tries to engage you in political debate. Your vocal cords will thank you!
BJ McFrisky
Hm. With the exception of the Boy Scouts, every issue, be it human rights or jobs, seems to come back to gay marriage. So, for those of us who don’t care about marriage, and for those of us who aren’t even remotely concerned with the Boy Scouts, the difference in the two opposing platforms comes down to the economy.
jeff4justice
1) Democrats helped vote in Alito and Roberts to the Supreme Court.
2) Obama’s words help pass the marriage ban in CA/FL/AZ in ’08 and he was as useless stopping the marriage amendment in North Carolina.
3) He only came out as supportive once polls showed most Americans in favor of marriage equality. He more or less advocates states rights.
4) He still refused an Executive Order stopping federal contractors from discriminating.
5) He’s cracking down on HIV+ people and cancer fighters who opt to use marijuana?
6) When the 2pary system rotates back to a Republican White House how safe will you feel with NDAA, NSA snooping, the increased total surveillance society, and Homeland Security labeling everyone under the sun a suspected terrorist?
7) Are we gays supposed to like GMO food?
8) Are we supposed to just not give a fuck about the drone attack victims of his needless wars?
Give me a break with his Obama idolizing BS.
Little-Kiwi
Heyya, Jeff. Care to specifically state and share which party people should vote for in the upcoming election?
I hear that you care very deeply about LGBT Issues, and was wondering if that passion will carry over into you supporting the Democratic Party, which is the first party in the history of the USA to have not only a sitting President who supports actual Equality for the LGBT Community but whose campaign platform INCLUDES equality.
Obama spoke out against Prop 8, and the similarly-styled bans, and has opposed states amending their constituions just to discriminate against LGBT people. Republicans have done the exact opposite.
He is the first sitting president in American History who openly supports Equality for LGBT people. This might upset some folks who can’t believe a black man has shown more grace and compassion than their fellow white people, but that’s not something that bothers a liberal like me. I wasn’t raised to think less of people based on their ethnicity.
I don’t expect any such clarity or answers from BJ McFrisky who is still pathetically sucking up to the republican family that’s ashamed to call him Son.
BJ McFrisky
@Little-Kiwi: You stated that I’m “pathetically sucking up to the republican family that’s ashamed to call [me] Son.”
Why would you make such an unnecessary, nasty statement? Why would you presume to know the political affiliation of my family, or what their perception of me is? Why would you even presume my parents are alive? Oh, that’s right: You’re a liberal, and not only do liberals know EVERYthing, they can state ANYthing as being factual without verifying the facts themselves.
And if you really believe that Obama “evolved” on gay issues and didn’t just flip-flop to appease the Democratic party, you’re every bit as deluded and sycophantic as he wants you to be (not that there’s anything wrong with that—every movement needs its lemmings).
Little-Kiwi
Simple, BJ – behind every gay republican is the family who’s ashamed of him.
Hilarious – for the first time in American history a sitting President has come out in support of the LGBT Community and his campaign platform for re-election includes specific pro-Equality stances for LGBT people.
And you’re upset about it. Stop being angry that the black liberal Democrat has more respect for LGBT than your own piece of shit family ever has, or ever will.
Wanna prove me wrong? Provide a URL where I can see the incredibly pro-LGBT republicans you associate with.
😉
we gay liberals aren’t the ones who need to post anonymous internet comments. we stand up to be counted. and if your parents are dead you shouldn’t still be sucking up to the right. they’re not around to be embarrassed by you anymore, so why are you still acting like you have no balls?
jwrappaport
@BJ: It’s not just about marriage, it’s about a party that stands for the belief that your romantic feelings for people of the same sex are immoral, dangerous, and should be a basis on which to deny you employment, standing in the community, dignity, and the equal protection of the law that straight couples are afforded. These propositions are not in serious controversy. It’s not just marriage the GOP attacks – they attack us as people, as human beings they do not feel are entitled to the same right to live with dignity as straights are.
The economy is important, but even if you accept that Romney will improve the economy (a very precarious position), what good is living in a country with a slightly better economy if you are unequal before the law and viewed with nothing but contempt by the very government your taxes prop up?
BJ McFrisky
@Little-Kiwi: I truly have to wonder at your mental status. You’re way, way beyond an angry liberal. You do nothing but rave and call people names and insult them (like calling my family a piece of shit—really?!?). You’re no more than an impotent bully, so I have no respect whatsoever for you and you can rest assured that I will never again respond to any of your comments.
Little-Kiwi
That’s ok. Your republican-voting family doesn’t respect you either so I’m sure this is nothing new for you.
At some point you’re just going to have to realize that we liberals are doing more for you than your own family ever will. That’s gotta suck, eh? For you, though. Not me. 😉
You could always prove me wrong by showing us all exactly what your family and fellow republicans are doing to promote LGBT Equality within the GOP. but you won’t. because they’re not doign anything.
poor baby 😀
Little-Kiwi
oh, remind me how it works, Frisky the Wimp – a party can promote anti-gay bigotry, and you and your family support them.
someone calls you out on it, and you get upset and call them a bully.
so…. a party will seek to actively deny you equality in America, and you’re fine with it. but you’re not fine with words being slung at you.
THIS is why nobody respects your or loves you, BJ. It’s not because yuo’re gay. it’s because you’re a spineless little coward about it.
*elegant curtsy*
Ruhlmann
@Little-Kiwi: You have the air of the pompous gas bag in you old son. Stick to issues and stop with the insults.

Kirsten Gillibrand Facebook-advertised at me this evening that she wants a now-hopeless vote on repealing DOMA. Where was she and the other Democrats who held a congressional supermajority only two years ago? They could have held the vote and there would have been no way of stopping it. Her stance now is just for show. Or campaign contributions. Just like O’s “evolution” as previously reported on Qweerty.
jeff4justice
@Little-Kiwi: I will not condone the 2party system of war, poverty, and erosion of civil liberties by voting for it.

I wish I could remember where I saw this (I’d gladly give credit if I could). Voting is like driving your car. If you want to go forward use D. If you want to go backward, use R.

@BJ McFrisky: I understand not wanting to get married. That is great for you.
However, to say that you do not care about gay marriage is basically saying…”I only give a fuck about myself and what I want. I do not care about all of you gay people that do not have the same rights as straight couples. As long as I get my wants and desires, fuck you all!”
I also can not understand how anyone would date you when this is your position. However, if all you ever do is hang out at the baths getting it on with stranger after stranger then more power for you.

@jeff4justice:
1) Democrats helped vote in Alito and Roberts to the Supreme Court.
-Republicans helped vote in plenty of Democrat nominees as well. Am I the only one that believes that rather someone should sit on the USSC or not should have a great more to do with their experience on the bench than it should with their ideology?
2) Obama’s words help pass the marriage ban in CA/FL/AZ in ’08 and he was as useless stopping the marriage amendment in North Carolina.
-You mean his extremely misquoted words that MAY have had an influence. The fact is, you have no clue if this is true or not without doing the research. Please tell me, when did you send surveys to every voter that voted for Prop 8 asking them if Obama’s words influenced their vote!?!
3) He only came out as supportive once polls showed most Americans in favor of marriage equality. He more or less advocates states rights.
-I, more or less, advocate state’s rights. Marriage is not in the constitution. That means the federal government has NOTHING to do with deciding who should or should not get married. You realize that advocating state’s rights means he advocates the overthrow of DOMA correct?
4) He still refused an Executive Order stopping federal contractors from discriminating.
-Obama is not Bush. He has been very careful about the use of executive orders. He likes to accomplish things with the use of the actual system the way it was designed instead. If you want another “decider” then ask Jeb to run for President.
5) He’s cracking down on HIV+ people and cancer fighters who opt to use marijuana?
-There is a complete lack of evidence that marijuana does any more good than any other drug that is developed. There is a lot more evidence that it has many more side effects than any other drug issued. Marijuana has wrecked more lives than it will ever help, and the only reason you, or anyone else for that matter, even talks about this medical marijuana drivel is because they believe it is the first step to getting the drug legalized. Sure, it has less side effects than alcohol, but the argument should be made that alcohol should be more restricted instead of marijuana being less so (yes, I know about prohibition, so don’t start on about it).
6) When the 2pary system rotates back to a Republican White House how safe will you feel with NDAA, NSA snooping, the increased total surveillance society, and Homeland Security labeling everyone under the sun a suspected terrorist?
-They have not labeled EVERYONE as a suspected terrorist. Hell, they have not even labeled you as a suspected terrorist. What happened on 9/11 was horrible. The primary reason that it happened is because it was allowed to by the Bush administration. I am completely willing to give up a small part of my freedoms if it means that we are safer as a nation. Then again, I have nothing to hide. If the government wants to see my constant clicks of QT, Facebook, Diablo and porn on a daily basis then I will gladly let them monitor my internet usage. What are you hiding?
7) Are we gays supposed to like GMO food?
-Are people supposed to starve as we continue to try to feed the world with the small amount of food that we have? The amount of farms in this country has dropped to under 2%. I would rather eat some safely modified foods than starve. Not to mention, there has been all kinds of modifications done to foods for the last 200 years in the name of agricultural progress. If it was not for that, we would have all starved already because it would have been impossible to feed 1 million people on the agricultural techniques and crops grown in the 1800s. Even “organic” food is vastly different from that time period.
8) Are we supposed to just not give a fuck about the drone attack victims of his needless wars?
-“Victims” do not normally hang out in known terrorist hotspots with known terrorists while spouting known terrorist propaganda. Just because some “kid” is 15 does not mean he gets a pass on his activities. That is why they try more and more 15 year old “kids” as adults now.
Give me a break with his Obama idolizing BS.
-Give us all a break with your constant third party idolization. Do you honestly believe that someone from a third party would do any different if they were actually capable of being elected president? They can say whatever they want to their base because they know they have no chance in hell of getting any votes from anyone other than their base. Real candidates, such as Obama and hell even Mittens, have to appeal to a much WIDER audience, and that means that they will say and do things that are not popular with everyone, including you.
tdx3fan
@BJ McFrisky: You do nothing but dodge and deflect. Just like fellow Republicans, you have such a flimsy grasp of the truth that you think the lies you tell yourself are actually true. I think you and the rest of your party are simply psychopathic at this point.
tdx3fan
@Banzelia: I think they were working on DADT and healthcare reform. Both were more important than marriage.
It is pretty hard for the country as a whole to disrespect their men and women in uniform by denying them rights. That is what really started the whole ball moving when it comes to racial equality. If black soldiers would not have been a integral part of WWII and following war efforts the public would have never warmed up to the idea of treating them equally.
Freddie27
Guys, please don’t feed the trolls. As I’ve said before, B J McFrisky would shoot Harvey Milk dead right between the eyes if he was promised a tax cut in return. He’s a gay Kapo, who throws you all under the bus laughing in order to get more money. He cares about nothing, no-one but his bank account.
just as good as you
@BJ McFrisky: You SHOULD care about equality. All of the 1,176 Federal “effects taht flow from marriage” are denied to those who are not married, despite the fact that more than 131,000 same-gender couples ARE legally married in America, per the 2010 US Census.
Meanwhile, re: “every issue, be it human rights or jobs, seems to come back to gay marriage”
NONE of the three ‘Human Rights’ points are dependent on marital status, nor are the first 2 of the 3 ‘jobs’ points.
just as good as you
@jeff4justice:
I’m looking forward to your ‘defense’ of the GOP’s positions, now that you’ve finished lying about Obama’s.
just as good as you
Re: “Are we gays supposed to like GMO food?”
I’m gay and I LOVE seedless watermelons.
Little-Kiwi
you show me a gay republican and i’ll show you a boy with no balls.
BJ McFrisky
@tdx3fan: Your statement, “If all you ever do is hang out at the baths getting it on with stranger after stranger then more power for you,” speaks volumes about your lack of maturity and lack of a rational response. Thank you for that, since now other readers can see the real difference between people like you and people like me. I think things through and comment on them; you call people names.
Little-Kiwi
BJ McFrisky, you actually spew-right nonsense from a place of complete anonymity. I know it’s hard for you havign been brought up amongst racist and gay-hating republicans, but you need to stop being mad at liberals for the fact that your balls never dropped.
