When Rita Ora ripped open Zac Efron’s shirt at Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards, the world got a rare glimpse of the 26-year-old dream machine’s chest hair.
Mr. Efron, who usually sports a smooth and hair-free chest, must have missed his last waxing appointment because he was displaying quite a bit of brown stubble across his perfectly-defined pectoral muscles. This got us thinking about guys who wax their chests (and other body parts).
We’re curious what you think about the subject. Do you like your man slick and hairless? Or do you prefer him more hairy/au naturale? Or perhaps somewhere in between?
Sound off in the comments section below.
Billy Budd
Neither slick nor hairless. I vote for trimming.
Cam
Bored with the whole waxed down over developed child look. It’s been around for a while and seems on it’s way out everywhere but in Hollywood.
Manolete Garcia
leave the hair much sexier. only pedophiles would get off on hairless.
Meowzer
Hairy. I don’t want a child, I want a man. Although I prefer Zac with chest hair, I’ll take him either way.
QuintoLover
I loooove hairy guys generally but of course It really just depends. Some guys just don’t look good with hair. But when you have a guy like Zac Efron with an admittedly awesome body (don’t like his face or acting skills unfortunately), I REALLY wish they’d just grow some hair! I know, you want to show off your defined body but hairy is sexy. 🙂
lnwbpa
I don’t like children as sex objects either. Naturally furry is much more appealing. I’ll be glad when this fad of shaving the body is over. You will be hairless in your older age . Relish it now.
SEAQueer
Trimmed or waxed is fine with me, chest and elsewhere. I don’t want to go through a jungle.
carey579
What is this logic that shaved men look like children? Did Arnold look like a child? Do the men at Mr Universe look like little boys?
And it’s always the gay men with this logic nowadays. Most queens seem to think they automatically get more ‘masculine’ by growing beards/body hair but as soon as they open their mouth a purse falls out!
To me the most beautiful state a body can reach is when it’s hairless. Let’s see the male anatomy at it’s purest!
carey579
PS – I think it’s ironic people who hate tattoos but like hairiness when both of them are covering the skin.
carey579
Also this ‘au naturale’ bullshit!
Some men are naturally hairless!
I bet it takes more time for some to care and style their beards/body hair than just shave.
DLinParadise
Hairy please, and possibly with a shirt that has a Velcro-close like Zac Efron so I can rip it off when necessary.
renly
I’m surprised people are focusing on his chest hair and not the fact that his face and his torso are two completely different shades. In some of the pictures from last night it almost looks like his head was photoshopped on.

A little defensive aren’t you? Funny that it’s the defensive somewhat self haters who always over react. Really? Queens? Yeah, ok Missy.
As for your little line of “And it’s always gay men with this logic nowadays” you might want to look out your window at the 20 something hipsters. Mostly straight, nearly all bearded. But far be it from me to deflect you from your anger at “The Gays” it must be so disappointing for you to be one of us.
carey579
Defensive?
Look at all the Mr Worlds and Mr Universes, male models, most sex symbols around the world, Michelangelo’s David – they’re all clean shaven. SO my preference is in the majority.
Most women don’t usually say – I want my men to be hairy. So you? IT’s always on gay sites and yes – nowadays. There are no Pavel Novotny like men in gay porn these days. Just check out QueerMeNow – everyone is either hairy or tattooed or both.
Elloreigh
@carey579: “the male anatomy at it’s purest” would be when in its natural state, which includes hair.
I don’t necessarily mind a judicious trim when a guy is extremely hairy, but most of what I’ve seen I would consider ridiculous. Put it this way – if I can immediately recognize that it’s trimmed, then it’s probably been overdone.
carey579
@Elloreigh: Then why not stop brushing and taking baths and cutting nails etc if you want to be so ‘au naturale’
Elloreigh
@carey579: So being in the majority makes you right? No.
There isn’t really a right or wrong here, as it’s a matter of subjective taste. If you like your guys smooth, that’s fine. I don’t, and that’s just fine as well. Doesn’t matter which of us is “in the majority”; there ought to be room in the world for people who like one or the other, anything in between, or even both.
Elloreigh
@carey579: If you’re going to cop an attitude, then you don’t need to bother responding to me, because I won’t be wasting my time on you.
There’s more to life than being “right” all the time. I’ve really had it with people who get a high off from being confrontational while doing so from behind the safety of a computer screen – especially over something as inconsequential as hairy vs. smooth.
Seriously, lighten up.
ingyaom
I like a natural man – whether he’s naturally hairy or naturally hairless.
ingyaom
@renly: I noticed that, too. I was thinking: isn’t it usually the other way around – your face is darker than your body? But Zac’s body was much darker than his face.
Billy Budd
@carey579: You mentioned David, but you forget that Zeus and Neptune are also portrayed in famous sculptures and they are always bearded.
carey579
@Elloreigh I find it hilarious when people claim they ‘don’t give a s##t’ with a paragraph long response.
carey579
@Billy Budd But were they ever intended or have they become the standard of male beauty? – No.
stranded
why bring Efron into this? Every shirtless pic of him of the last 2 years he’s had chest hair, even in the link you gave to the previous story, he had chest hair in almost all of those pics.
Anyway, it depends on what you want to look like. Shaved is ok, it can get prickly sometimes but if you keep at it, it’s fine. Hair is fine too, but sometimes guys have so much hair, it gets kind of slimy during sex. I trim certain areas, shave others and leave some parts alone.
jwb1978
Neatly trimmed hair please. I don’t want a boy….but I don’t want the missing link either!
Billy Budd
@carey579: Well, the greeks had a marked tendency for favoring male youths (Ephebes, in a relationship between Eromenos and Erastes). Older adult males were obsessed with very young (+18yo), slim and muscular men.
But Zeus is the Big Boss. He may not be the aesthetic ideal of ancient Greeks, but he was very beautiful and admired nonetheless. He represented the perfect form of a fully adult male.
Adult men in ancient greece took great care of their beards (they had to be pointed, as you can see in the movie 300) and were proud of them.
Please read “Greek Homosexuality” by Kenneth Dover.
Billy Budd
@carey579: You should also consider that tastes change and evolve over time. The ideal of beauty for greeks in 500BC is not the same ideal of beauty for gays in 2014.

Either is fine, but I wanna tweak his nips. I bet he would squirm with pleasure!

How sad and insecure you sound. Lets go through your little comment.
1. Mr. Worlds, and Mr. Universes? They shave because they are judges in the definition of muscles and therefore want to have as little distraction as possible. It isn’t a beauty contest. But nice try. Male sex symbols from around the world? Funny, because in the majority of the world they aren’t waxed into looking like Swollen 10 year olds.
But you know, you keep on stamping your foot and holding your breath.
Billy Budd
I´ve had sex with smooth 19 year-olds and with extremely hairy 45 year-olds. Both body types were fine and each had their advantages. The 45 year olds were fantastic in bed and the connection was much more intense.
In terms of aesthetic appreciation only, without considering performance in bed, I must admit that I feel more attracted to the boys.
But I would never refuse to share my bed with a hairy, handsome butch guy in his 40s.
Sweet Boy
Hair…real men have hair
carey579
^ What is a ‘real man’ FFS? And this is queerest site on the planet! O_O
@Billy Budd – Who says a young teenage guy can’t be hairy and a 40 year old smooth? Why is it one extreme or the other?
@Cam – Show me one that’s right ONE single guy in a male beauty pageant that is hairy all over!
kinseyfiles
@carey579: Well said! Kudos!
Billy Budd
@carey579: I was just giving an EXAMPLE from personal experience. I never meant that to be a rule. You misunderstood what I said.
Black Pegasus
I don’t mine a little fur but not on that wolverine level. Hairy legs and butt is a plus though.
kinseyfiles
Not all men are hairy of course. A great many men have little to no body hair. It has nothing to do with pedophiles. If a man is hairless and people find him attractive. So what? Some men who have more body hair prefer to present themselves like their less hairy counterparts. Its their prerogative. If a man takes the time to trim his body hair and or do fitness training to stay in shape and or take the time to make healthy food choices that is something to be admired not put down yet there are a whole slew of commenters on these sites who bitterly criticize disciplined people who look good and take care of themselves.
Flaneur
Smooth or trimmed is my preference. I’m so tired of the bearded, scruffed, tatted, hipster type. And I’m especially tired of guys with huge pubic beards that sprout from their faces. Are those sanitary?
Where are the clean-shaven traditional guys who look like they have Roman numerals after their names? That’s my type.
DarkZephyr
I guess in the long run I don’t care, I like hairy and smooth both just as much. I guess I think a guy should just stick to his natural self, whether hairy or smooth, but if he does wax it won’t break the deal. If he’s cute he’s cute.
@carey579: I agree with you that waxed doesn’t = childlike but c’mon, why the lame insults just because you disagree with someone else’s preferences?
carey579
They called people with my preference paedophiles and you’re calling me out?
Hair obsessed queens are hair obsessed queens!
JJinAus
I love how we are supposed to accept who we are in order to be happy. Then you are supposed to pluck, shave, wax, trim, gym, diet, obsess, consume, shriek, sneer, on and on until you become a vapid Greek statue. So much for being authentic.
Be who you are, I can’t judge you if that’s really who you are, but give me my men natural. I am gay and I love men. Not androgynous statues, but whatever.

________________
Billy said HE had been with those two. You are so obsessed you can’t even be bothered to read his posting before trying to pick a fight.
And I love the way I pointed out that the contests you keep mentioning “Mr. World, Mr. Universe” are contests where people are juged on muscle town and they shave to show off those muscles and then you respond with some odd request about showing you a male beauty pagent where somebody has a hairy chest. So again, you show that you don’t even bother to read others posts.
Although I DO notice you did not respond to my response to your comment where you said sex symbols in other countries were not hairy and I pointed out that you were completely wrong. Funny how THAT is the part of my last posting you chose to ignore isn’t it? You know, the one that showed you were wrong?
The issue is, you are obviously obsessed. You seem to be incredibly defensive and screaming that your preference is this, and that. Funny, nobody else is saying anything like that one way or the other. What is the real story here?
rextrek
Chest hair, especially nice chest hair is such a TURN ON….even as a kid – when I knew I was attracted to men…when I look back now – it was always hairier guys….hairy fore-arms are sexy too…..WOOOF – I wish I myself were hairier – but we always want what we dont have.
Merv
I prefer guys who naturally have little or no chest hair, and no back hair. On the other hand, shaving or heavily trimming pubic or underarm hair is a huge huge turnoff. Hairy legs can be sexy, but are not required (whatever’s natural).
Fang
shit, i like it all. :p
gwydion
Seriously? Who gives a shit? We have our preferences and that’s that. Frankly, I like either. It’s the PERSON that matters to me and if he were hairy, so be it. I would NEVER ask someone to alter their looks for me by shaving their hair off.
Billy Budd
@gwydion: I agree and I feel the same. There are hairy guys who attract me, and smooth guys who attract me.
But I admit I once asked a boyfriend to trim his nose hair. It was coming out of the nostrils and I thought it was disgusting.
rnch
As Always, it depends on the individual guy.
I will say this: sliding my lips (and other body parts) over a week old shaved/waxed man, who’s skin resembles 600 grit sandpaper, is NOT a turn on.
carey579
@Cam:
Stop blabbing and show me ONE example of a hairy male beauty pageant.
Also show me hairy male sex symbols from around the world. WARNING – Then I will show you 10 more clean shaven ones for each.
You simple can’t!
carey579

That last line is so true! Some people are just so fake (ironic because they are calling smooth men fake) that they can’t even acknowledge good looking people because they themselves are not that standard or can never get the men of that standard. Most times and I have been proved right these people have the sour grapes syndrome.
Billy Budd
@carey579: You are trying to turn a personal preference into an axiom. You are not a rational human being.
Billy Budd
@Billy Budd: Do you know what the aesthetic ideal of many natives of Polynesia is? They adore extremely obese women. They feed the women with special food so that they get fat.
Ideals of beauty change from time to time and from society to society. I don’t think that nowadays there is only one specific ideal of male beauty in the western world. Many gay men and straight women seek masculine and/or hairy guys. I have many friends who are crazy about hairy chests.
Billy Budd
@carey579:

The French Polynesian island of Tahiti was home to the native practice of ha’apori. Literally meaning “to fatten,” young women were plumped and presented to the chief for beauty and fertility inspection. The celebration of obesity continues to this day, due in part to a diet rich in carbohydrates and coconut milk. Tahitian women continue to be revered for their rounded faces and bodies.

Your problem is, that you are defensive and apparently crazy. If somebody is handsome they are handsome. You seem to have this freak out about “Male Beauty Pageants” and then keep mentioning the Mr. Universe pageant. Which as I have repeatedly told you, is a musculature pageant and people shave down so their definition can be seen. I have just posted for you three major international sex symbols which you said didn’t exist.
You have gotten so defensive however that I am starting to think there really is something creepy going on with you.

@Cam🙁 carey579 sounds like that davey wavey guy… Which man call another man “hair obsessed queen” for wanting or having body hair…”as soon as he opens his mouth a purse falls out” that is what people say here about him…I saw him on You Tube counting the days till Tom Daley were ready for his Kids Choice Award ,so nobody can call him pedophile…And in which Universe is Mr Universe a Sexsymbol??? O.K.,to each his own…
I am german and a woman who like man.I simply never met a single woman in my whole live who want her man hitting the gym 7 days a week or is always on diet. A laid- back man is always a 10. Hairy or smooth. Narcissism and beeing obsessed with exercising is not hot as F..over here.
I do not want to have Sex with a Statue( like David) or make love to a Symbol. And the Models male or female often look like asexual Androids. Fortunately, in Germany, there are tons of man who like they man and they woman more natural. Less Kardashian.
If you are looking good in your Jeans your are looking good.NO Makeup .We do Sports here.We shave. And we eat.Our saunas are full of happy naked people in all shapes and colors. You are welcome!!!… ( Sorry for my english..)

You guys are just – scraping the bottom of the barrel would be a total understatement!
Obesity Demographics?
Tops & Bottoms Theory?
And the Examples!
Who is Ben Cohen? Who is Yehuda Levi? Who is Raul Bova? I meant sexy symbols not random celebs that you find sexy but no one knows about.
And you still haven’t given me a male beauty pageant example and with examples like those I’m not holding my breath either!
I don’t even need to do this but –

@carey579:
Carey, again, at first I thought you just had a different opinion, but your obsession and denial-ism has gotten so crazy (Who is Ben Cohen? Yeah right, This very site has probably done ten articles about the guy) I’m starting to think that the reason you were freaking out and screaming about people saying hairless guys look like children is because maybe that is why you like them.
Honestly I can’t think of why else you would be so foaming at the mouth and continually trying to alter your story or avoid the links I put up. You asked for international sex symbols and I put up three, then you claim that they aren’t. Any lie you can.
If this were merely a preference you wouldn’t be getting so freaked out. It’s like somebody hit a MAJOR nerve with you, and honestly you are acting kinda crazy.
Billy Budd
@Cam: The poor guy. I never imagined someone would give so much importance to wax.
carey579
@Cam WTF!
Do any of my examples include young children?
It’s bullshit like this why straight homophobes link us to paedophilia!
I’m only responding to your bullshit because I know I’m right and so easy to come up with facts against you.
Now you can hide your head in the sand and act like you are right but the facts are there for all to see.
PS This site featuring Ben Cohen who I had no idea (and I’ve also recently found this site) just proves there are hair obsessed people who run this site like I said earlier.
That’s why articles like this – shave or not to shave with a hairy chest picture. There is such an agenda behind it no matter how frivolous.
Go educate yourself on Salman Khan and why he is the quintessential heartthrob of billions of people more than Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt will ever reach. And you bring out Ben Cohen LOL
Cam
@carey579:
You are the one who keeps mentioning pedophilia and are overacting to everything here.
You are seriously sounding crazy. You demand proof or examples, then when some are given you flip out and switch to other subjects, again mentioning pedophilia and then putting up phony lol’s
Seriously dude, you really sound a bit unbalanced.
carey579
@Cam
Because your ‘proofs’ are pure bulls##t compared to mine!
You were the first one here who brought out the child link and I only responded twice about paedophilia and both times to YOU!
Because you know you’re not right you have to resort to manipulate and throw heinous personal insults.
You are what I call a total *********!!!!!
Cam
@carey579:
No, actually you have responded multiple times and overacted. You asked for proof I provided it then you pretended not to know who one of the most well known sex symbols world wide was for the gay community.
Again, you act obsessive and a bit crazy. Basically I’m thinking the lady doth protest too much.
