One of the most unfortunate things about recording SameSexSunday with Chris Barron often joining us on the round table is that we don’t record in person at the gym between sets of Chris’ crunches. Great job on the abs, Chris! You’ve worked hard for them. Now if we can only get you to quit hanging out with folks like Breitbart! 😉
See you back on the round table again soon.

Nice abs. Very dedicated. But how does he think that the Rethugs are ever going to take him seriously – or at all – with pics like these being circulated on the internet. It’s one thing to be a fiscal conservative but another entirely to want to hang with the GOP. Chrissy is very delusional.
Steven
Quislings have abs. Great.

Great abs.
Now if only he could do something about that face. Every time he talks on TV it looks like he’s had a stroke.
Or three.

Can we please have a one month moratorium on: chris baron, sarah palin, anderson cooper, davey wavey and adam lambert? Just a month.

Narcissistic Republican Fag!
Are Gay men ever capable of humility?
UGH!
Screaming Queen
Oh how you queens amuse! Bunch of sad little zealoty hypocrites that preach tolerance and diversity, until somebody strays for your approved path, and then the claws come out.
Don’t like gay republicans, do something to change that situation, and I’m really, really sorry if you don’t know this already, but attempted snarkiness and almost funny remarks that insult these guys aren’t likely to change their opinions. TALK to them like reasonable adults and convince them otherwise, or STFU and stop making the gays look like rabid progressives with no tolerance for dissent, that’s the stereotype that gets reinforced every time you banshees have a HuffyPo moshpit about the gay republicans.
The failed efforts to demonize the Tea Party people should have taught you something, demonizing this group will get equally disappointing results, most reasonable adults and gays can see through irrational hatred. Hate them all you want, but spewing your eighth grade insults in threads like this only make people more sympathetic to the bigotry they endure from the rest of the gays.
I don’t always agree with GOProud, their stance on abortion goes against all the values I was raised with, but I don’t throw around insults to change their opinion. If I cared at all, or wanted them to change, I’d go talk to them; I certainly wouldn’t fling tacky insults like bitter queens on a message board, that won’t change anything except people’s perception of the bigots throwing the insults.
Again, go T-A-L-K to them if you don’t like their views, THAT’s how a democracy works, with a dignified exchange of ideas that lead to productive discussions and beneficial compromises. They’re much more reasonable and polite than the the shrill leftists who attempt to discredit them at every turn.
Final thought: I haven’t seen these GOProud guys sell out the LGBT’s or persecute their fellow gays for political gain, can you say the same about the Democrats? Progressives? HRC? Hmmmmm?

Yes! I think I can sign off on that with one exception, we allow pics of Chris Baron’s abs for what else, nspiration! Biting knuckles here. 😉

This is from GOP PROUD’s website:
:
GOProud represents gay conservatives and their allies. GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy. GOProud promotes our traditional conservative agenda by influencing politics and policy at the federal level.”
Okay, so nothing here says ANYTHING, NOTHING, NADA, ZIPPO about working for Gay Rights & Equality…NOTHING
Instead it says their organization is entirely focused on:
*A traditional conservative agenda (since when did that EVER include Gay Rights & Equality for…well, ANY minority?)
*A limited government (less funding for AIDS organizations, social services, etc etc)
*Individual liberty (uhm…well that applies to Gun Rights, State Rights >, Property Rights, etc etc.) They “claim” they’re for “letting people do what they want behind closed doors” …or do they?
*Free Markets (Don’t bail out any company with union members, but DO bail out bankers that I sleep with)
*A confident foreign policy (all balls, no brain…bomb Iran, defend Israel blindly)
Remarkably, their push to end DADT was well-orchestrated but then to pull in Ann Coulter and Breitbart as their new bff’s is a complete contradiction to their “inclusive tent” reported mantra (the mantra they’ve stated on cable t.v. shows for the past 8 months.)
They’re befriending the hallway bullies, essentially. The ones that demonize in such a horribly cruel way anyone that doesn’t agree with them. The Left were NOT the ones that started with the name calling back in Gingrich’s era. The Right did.
And they haven’t stopped being the bigger of the two Jerk Parties since then.
Obviously, to say that Dems have been taking our money and support without giving us everything we wanted (or standing up for us fully when we needed it- uhm 2004??) is a warranted criticism.
But that doesn’t mean that we just go off and embrace the GOP thinking it’s “going to get better.”
When you want to lose weight, you don’t just stop eating donuts and switch to anorexia.
One of the two is clearly more bad for you.
(Obviously, if you care more about your financial portfolio and getting minorities to stop being so “lazy” and living off of your tax dollars, than your ability to not get fired because you’re gay…then it’s not that you’re just conservative…it also means that when push comes to shove, the gay community cannot and should not rely on you for support when the fire and brimstone comes our way from the people you hang out with at your political events. You’ll be one of the ones in the back of the crowd, with a drink in your hand, hoping that the torch-carriers amigos of yours really do think that you’re “not like the others.”)
Kev C
I support Sarah Palin for President. Here’s why: She’s popular with the Right. And the Left can’t stop talking about her so they must think she’s pretty interesting. It will give them something to talk about and live for.
Makes both sides happy 🙂

BRING BACK MORNING GOODS..IN SHAPE GAYS MAY COMMIT SUICIDE TOO!!
American Patriot
Kudos to GOProud.
Finally, there is a gay organization that isn’t a subsidiary of the Democratic Party. Finally, there is a gay organization that doesn’t encourage promiscuity, and lewd conduct at gay pride parades.
It is ironic that gay conservatives are embraced by the majority of the conservative movement (GOProud is one of the main sponsors of CPAC this year), but gay conservatives are absolutely hated by most of the gay left.
Finally, there is a gay organization that firmly believes in the following —
1. Strong individual freedoms
2. Repeal of ObamaCare
3. Less government handouts and wasteful social programs that could be handled more efficiently through the private sector.
4. A solid belief in American exceptionalism.
5. Respect for our nation’s military & veterans, including those who have sacrificed their lives for our country.
6. Tax cuts for everyone, and not punishing people who have worked hard for their income
7. A solid national defense & keeping terrorists from radical Islam from attacking us again.
8. Respect for the American family, and the importance of parent’s rights to educate their children as they see fit, in accordance with their personal & religious beliefs.
Bruno
@American Patriot:
“It is ironic that gay conservatives are embraced by the majority of the conservative movement”
I just about suffocated from involuntary fits of laughter after reading that one. Cheers!
justiceontherocks
@American Patriot: Because CPAC took your money doesn’t mean the “majority of the conservative movement” embraces gay conservatives. It means they took your money.
If you people are going to lecture us about fiscal prudence you’ve got to do better than that.

God, that made me throw up inside.
You forgot
9. Stop invading countries because we want oil and then get upset when they become terrorists who we actually trained and we wanted them to over throw the previous government because it wouldn’t do what we wanted.
10. Gay people do not deserve any rights as they have chosen to be gay.
I’ll add to 3.
3. Less government handouts and wasteful social programs that could be handled more efficiently through the private sector because private sector is a compassionate and caring filled with non greedy kind folk who take care of any man/woman with respectful intelligence.
And 2.
2. Repeal of Obamacare because no American should get anything for free in particular ANY support from government, ANY protection from government and because health is the least important thing because healthy people do not contribute positively to community and all poor people who can’t afford healthcare are dumb embeciles who should just die from birth because it is their fault even if they were born within the poverty situation.
Are right wingers sociopaths? (John From England)
@mikeincleveland:
Oh please the Left have done SO much more then the Right would’ve done for you and this government has done more in 2 years then Clinton did in 8 years.
Furthermore it has done more to highlight gay visibility then any other government.
Remember, officially gays are a very small minority. Try and explaining why repealing DADT-so everyone is free to continue America’s imperialism-would be important to a high school educated mother of living in the deep midwest with a husband who is 3rd generation manual worker??
Surely, it’s more important to work towards social acceptance and awareness on a grassroot level so kids can stop wanting to commit suicide?
How many gay kids living in fear in the South give a sh*t that they are now able to go to war and can back either in a body bag or batsh*t insane fighting for a war that makes the rich in their country richer ala Rumsfeld and Cheney who made millions over the war Iraq because they made sure companies they had shares in won all the outsourcing contracts in Iraq?
Be realistic. It’s like gays thinking the youth of today care about ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’.
Also, not sure why lefties can’t get it through their heads that the right just don’t care? They aren’t stupid! They do understand you know but they don’t care. Neither do GOproud who are not a gay group at all.
Not sure why the right needs even MORE support to push their agenda when they’ve monopolised the media and business market??
Anyway GOproud would not have been able to get all these media gigs if they didn’y sat they were gay-it’s there USP.
American Patriot
@Are right wingers sociopaths? (John From England): And Liberalism is a mental disease.
Let me address a few of your points.
1. About the “oil” comment. Yes, unfortunately, the United States is dependent on the Middle East for oil. That’s because liberals, Democrats, and environmentalists prevent drilling off most our coasts, and in Alaska. In addition, we should be able to use other sources of power for energy independence — including nuclear power. Liberals & Democrats hate this.
2. THERE IS NO RIGHT TO BE GAY IN THE U.S. CONSTITUTION. Race, religion, and gender are mentioned explicitly in the Constitution. Where is “gay”, “LGBT”, “homosexual” or “gay rights” explicitly cited? Yes, people who are gay or lesbian have the right to live their lives as their choose. But there is no constitutionally protected right to be “gay”.
3. Social programs and public service programs are often more efficient when operated through private companies rather than the slow & inefficient government. The ice skating rink in Manhattan? NYC struggled & delayed building it for years. Donald Trump assumed control of the project & completed it ahead of schedule. The Human Genome Project? If it wasn’t for private companies, it wouldn’t have been completed.
4. Health insurance is NOT a human right. Furthermore, it is unconstitutional to force Americans to buy health insurance, even if they don’t want to. That was one of the key components of ObamaCare.
5. And your comment about gay kids in the South not caring whether they “come back in a bodybag” just proves most liberals’ deep hatred for the U.S. military. So what was repealing “Don’t ask Don’t tell” really all about, if it wasn’t for allowing gays to serve openly? Liberal gays like you will never join the military, and will instead berate the brave men & women who fight every day to protect your freedom to spew your hate speech.

CORRECTION & RESPONSE
1) @John From England: I THINK you misunderstand my sarcasm…i’m fully against what GOProud stands for, because, as you correctly point out, the Right has, well, done squat for the gay community, AND, if you check out GOProud’s official 2011 Legislative Agenda (http://www.goproud.org/2011agenda/) you’d find…well, SQUAT difference between GOProud’s Agenda and the Agenda of the newly-elected GOP-dominated House of Representatives.
Copied and pasted verbatim- GOProud’s 2011 Agenda is…(wait for it)
GOProud’s Conservative Agenda
The so-called “gay agenda” is defined by the left through a narrow prism of legislative goals. In contrast to the approach of the left, GOProud’s agenda emphasizes conservative and libertarian principles that will improve the daily lives of all Americans, but especially gay and lesbian Americans.
1 – TAX REFORM – We support replacing the current tax code with the Fair Tax. Until then, we support death tax repeal; domestic partner tax equity; cuts in the capital gains and corporate tax rates to jump start our economy and create jobs; and a fairer, flatter and substantially simpler tax code.
2 – HEALTHCARE REFORM – Free market healthcare reform. Allow for the purchase of insurance across state lines – expanding access to domestic partner benefits; emphasizing individual ownership of healthcare insurance – such a shift would prevent discriminatory practices by an employer or the government.
3 – SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM – The only way to permanent solvency in the Social Security system is through the creation of inheritable personal savings accounts. Personal savings accounts would give gay and lesbian couples the same opportunity to leave their accounts to their spouse as their straight counterparts.
4 – RESPECTING THE PROPER ROLE OF THE JUDICIARY – We believe our Constitution should be respected and that judges appointed to the federal bench should recognize the proper and appropriate role of the judiciary as laid out by our Founding Fathers.
5 – HOLDING THE LINE ON SPENDING – Standing up for all tax payers against wasteful and unnecessary spending to protect future generations from the mounting federal debt.
6 – FIGHTING GLOBAL EXTREMISTS – Standing strong against radical regimes that refuse to recognize the basic human rights of gays and lesbians, women and religious minorities.
7 – DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION – Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment. Marriage should be a question for the states. A federal constitutional amendment on marriage would be an unprecedented federal power grab from the states.
8 – ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Package of free market reforms to encourage and support small businesses and entrepreneurship. Such reforms would create jobs for all Americans – including gay Americans.
9 – REVITALIZING OUR COMMUNITIES – A package of urban related reforms; expanding historic tax preservation credits; support for school choice.
10 – DEFENDING OUR COMMUNITY – Protecting 2nd amendment rights.
****
#6 (FIGHTING GLOBAL EXTREMISTS) is a cover…these clowns at this organization (like you pointed out in your rebuttal) could care less about standing up to anti-gay regimes. They just want to be Pro-Defense and Pro-Fight everyone (though it will be interesting to get the explanations of why NONE of the GOProud directors aren’t signing up for the military now to help go fight these anti-gay dictators..probably something along lines of “I can serve my country better here talking on t.v. and going to conventions..”)
#7 (DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION)..oh, soooo in other words, let the States decide who can get married and who can’t and let the LGBT community deal with how the cards fall. Uhm, that’s what some of the wussy congressional reps said in the 50’s and early 60’s when it came to equal rights for black Americans too. Uhm, and we can see which side of history they were on, right? Wow…talk about a cop-out of a position. By having this position, GOProud can obviously assure themselves into the GOP cocktail parties at least.
MY CORRECTION is that GOProud had little to do with spear-heading the repeal of DADT. It was the Log Cabin Republicans that did it- the group that GOProud fights against because of their aggressive “gay agenda”! (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/09/AR2010110907046.html)
There used to be a go-go club across the street from where I live and i’d go in there and hear the stories during the Bush years from the dancers about the older, gay men that came in there with their $50 dollar bills wanting special lap dances. Once the go-go boys found out from these men that they were Bush supporters, they stopped giving them lap dances. Eventually, the word would get around the club and these men would stop showing up.
GOProud’s Agenda really is nothing less than what these older dudes believed in. It’s about their money and not about “equal rights.” They’ve learned to blend into society and have no intention of fighting in the army, getting married to their partner (even if they have one) and telling anyone, in a public conversation, that they’re gay.
Everything is behind closed doors.
Or in a go-go bar.
Just like the way it used to be, right?
When the gay bars were just discreet doorways down alleys.
And no one knew your name.
(Ah, the Good Ol’ Days…)
(Kudos to GOProud for spending a lot of time trying to find any sort of way to connect the standard GOP Agenda Points to the gay community…that must have been at least a two six pack meeting coming up with some of these ideas.)
PS- @John From England: I hope this Murdoch/News of the World phone-hacking thing continues to blow up. That bastard doesn’t deserve to buy BSkyB considering. Props also to your students- at least they take to the streets and protest when the Govt screws them over. Ours smoke a lot of pot and play Xbox and signs of protest.
BUT: Let’s let everyone be their own judge of Mr. Barron. Check out this video of his appearance in December on THE ED SHOW where he claims that Conservative agendas are better for gay people than Liberal agendas. “When my partner and I sit around the kitchen table and discuss things that are important to us, it’s the same things that effect average Americans- tax rates, job availability, etc etc etc…”
(Yawn)

@American Patriot: The requirement that everyone purchase health insurance was a request of the insurance industry to give it a healthier pool of insureds (translation: more profits). That’s something you people wanted.
As for your homophobic remarks about there being no right to be gay in the Constitution, there is no right to a white or a male in there either. What’s there is that everyone is entitled to equal protection under and due process of the law.
Read first, write second.
American Patriot
@mikeincleveland: It’s not about equal rights. You already have equal rights. What “rights” are you being denied? There is no right to be “gay” in the U.S. Constitution.
If you are a gay man, you are free to enter into a marriage with a woman who will agree. If you want to make legal arrangements for a romantic relationship with a man, you are free to enter into a civil union or domestic partnership, or hire an attorney to draft out the specific legal contracts you wish.
Mr. Barron makes PERFECT sense. He gets it. Conservative agendas are better for gay people than liberal ones. If you are screaming about “gay rights” while you cannot find a job or put food on the table, your priorities are really messed up.
What this really is about — is that gay liberals want to force everyone to accept them and to like them for being gay. Guess what? While some people may embrace you, there are a lot of other people — for religious reasons, or personal reasons — will never accept homosexuality — no matter how loud you shout at them or mock them or attack them. The sooner you accept that, the happier you will be.
American Patriot
@justiceontherocks: You’re right. There is also no right to be a “white” or “male” in the constitution. But how often do white males ask for special rights? Are there “White male” pride parades? Actually, given the fact that most men in WeHo, Boystown, and The Castro are white anyway, those could be gay pride parades in general.
Yes, everyone is entitled to equal protection & due process of the law. People who are gay already have equal protection & due process of the law. People who are gay can seek out employment for the same jobs that straight people do. People who are gay have the right to vote, can run for political office, have free speech, and can address their grievances through the legal system.
justiceontherocks
@American Patriot: You should have stopped at “you’re right.” You went downhill from there.
I’m not going to argue constitutional law with you because it’s way over your head, but I can assure you that NO ONE who knows diddly about the subject thinks gay people are afforded equal rights. The real question is whether we are entitled to it.
Keep thinking that all the “conservatives” love you. Keep thinking you have a “place at the table.” All that shows is you are just as delusional as HRC.
Have a nice life. I hope you become comfortable with yourself some day.
Gregger
I’ve never seen such stupid, jingoistic, incorrect double speak as American Patriot’s posts. @Screaming Queen:
Screaming Queen says–
“I haven’t seen these GOProud guys sell out the LGBT’s or persecute their fellow gays for political gain,”
Well then pal, if you really think that, then you havent really looked at this group or its supporters.
I mean, even bringing Andrew Breitbart on board shows just how far GOProud will go to sell-out gay rights for political gain. It is a sharp slap-in-the-face of gay rights, regardless of whether one votes right or left.
Leaving aside the pay-checks they signed over to the explicitly homophobic Ann Coulter (whose murderous homophobia they do, in fact, acknowledge), consider one of their most prominent figures, Peter Thiel.
Thiel is a gay republican who has consistently mobilized AGAINST gay-rights causes such as marriage equality (thats a pretty big sell out right there.) According to Thiel, gay marriage would “destroy the economy”… THAT is how out-there these guys are.
Consider the very topic of this page… their appointment of professional liar and malicious charlatan Andrew Breitbart.
While Breitbart is a hero to the social and political right, he has made his money, in part, by persistently attacking gay rights, and maligning gay people in the most ugly and vicious way.
I mean, only a year ago, Breitbart tried to whip up the anger of his conservative base by falsely accusing Kevin Jennings (a very good and openly gay man who works in the Department of Education) of being a pedophile. He did that specifically and explicitly to incite homophobic anger in his hysterical, far-right, Moonie cult base.
Okay, pedophilia is a very serious crime, and that accusation is one that has been unfairly thrown at gay people for centuries.
Breitbart (who is GOProuds new board member) deliberately cultivated that homophobic anger (complete with homophobic fantasies of boy-hungry gay predators) in his followers and aimed them squarely at an innocent gay man.
Of course, the campaign didnt go far, because it was a false accusation. Like most of Breitbarts machinations, it was proven to be a lie almost as soon as it came out.
But will GOProud ask Breitbart to apologize, or even redress his slanders against Jennings, and the American gay community?
Of course not. Because they are sell outs who have no problem persecuting gay rights for political gain.
Will they ask Breitbart to take back everything he has posted about the “danger” of gay rights?
Will they ask him to quit fomenting anger against marriage equality? (I mean, have you looked at his BS sites? Do you know how much anti-gay hatred is explicitly cultivated in those sites? Take a look pal, its not that hard to see.)
No, GOProud, will not be so bold. They never would. They prefer the protection of cheaters, even over the integrity of their own cause.
Why? Because they are, in fact, sell-outs… and the fact that they are now hiding under Breitbarts skirt is the one of the most clear and vivid illustrations of that fact.
Look, I don’t care if you are conservative… I know sexuality is not a political party. Be as conservative as you want to be.
But don’t lie to yourself about these guys, and don’t lie to yourself about the kind of people they endorse.
Andrew Breitbart is a vicious liar who has been repeatedly proven as such. He is a disgusting hate-monger and a dishonorable charlatan. He relies on bigotry and hystericalhallucinations (based on the most backward prejudices) to embolden his base.
Its sad that GOProud chose this depraved worm over other gay-friendly republicans who have much more dignity, honesty and honor (i mean, come on, its not like Megan McCain is THAT hard to find.)
By aligning themselves with notorious liars and flaming bigots like Coulter, Breitbart and Thiel, GOProud shows just how far they are willing to sell out for politcal gain, and how easy they are with persecuting gays (even fomenting anger with homophobic lies).
Shame on them.
Jason
@Screaming Queen: And when exactly did progressives, HRC or the Dems persecute fellow gays? What universe are you living in? Stupid queen. Darling, if it weren’t for progressives and the Democratic party, you wouldn’t have had gay marriage in the handful of states that allow it, civil unions, the repeal of DADT, the decisions in Lawrence v. Texas or Romer v. Evans, etc., etc., etc.
Just because some lying GOP queens living in some make-believe world recite that up is down, right is left, and black is white, doesn’t make it so.
