LOVE, NOT MARRIAGE

Chris Christie Would Love A Gay Child, Then Tell Him He Can’t Marry

Chris Christie continues to straddle the fence on gay issues, with results that are just about as unpleasant as the image that phrase conjures up.

In his latest “split the baby” moment, Christie spoke during a debate with his Democratic rival for governor, Barbara Buono, about how he would respond if one of his four children came out. Christie said he would “grab them and hug them and tell them I love them.”

You think that would be good enough, but Christie had to shore up this conservative credentials. So he went on to add “that Dad believes that marriage is between one man and one woman,”

A more touching father-child moment would be hard to imagine.

Of course, the irony is that Buono has a lesbian daughter and supports marriage equality. Buono choose not to respond to Christie’s comments, possibly because she was too busy rolling her eyes.

During the debate, Christie also noted that he would be voting for Steve Lonegan in today’s U.S. Senate race. Lonegan’s campaign has distinguished itself for its willingness to call opponent Cory Booker’s sexuality into question.

Can’t you just feel the governor’s love?
