Christine Quinn, the hardnosed lesbian whose day job is speaker of the New York City Council, was re-elected to the post this week, meaning she’ll have a few more years of playing with Michael Bloomberg. But what’s most thrilling about her election isn’t that she won — we all sort of expected as much — but that the competition received only one vote.
That would be Charles Barron, who was, long ago, a Black Panther.
Quinn gave a heft speech after the results were in, which you can read in full here.

Quinn for mayor in 2013!!
Sam
A little over a year ago, I had visions that NYC would have just elected Christine Quinn mayor, and that I would have been a major volunteer for the campaign. But then she decided to overrule the will of the people by getting rid of term limits, paving the way for Bloomberg to buy a third term.
The way she’s sold out to Emperor Mike I just makes me sick. Over her.

I will never vote for her. That she helped Bloomberg become King of NYC is wrong!
