Few remember that Reeve played gay in the Broadway production of “Fifth of July” … courageously AFTER having appeared in the first “Superman” film, as well as in the later film “Deathtrap” in which [below], as in the play he kissed another man full-on. But that does not a closet queen make.
I’d imagine it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he dabbled for a while. Lots of young men do before they realize that they’re closer to the Kinsey 0 end of the scale than Kinsey 6. And a biographer noted that, like many such beautiful straight men in Hollywood [and everywhere] he benefited from the kindness of gay strangers.
In any case, he was a great man lost too soon.
