Nice, Mike. You respond to her homophobia with your racism? Keeping it classy…

For every good politician, there’s bound to be a bad one. People in her district could start a petition that she not have unsupervised contact with children since gay kids, the siblings of gay kids, and kids with gay parents would not be safe around her – given her statements.

I’m sad for her. She makes these sweeping judgements without knowing us. The Republican Party will love her! Maybe Chris Christie has his Vice President. Mark Zuckernumbnuts can support this fine politician along with his poertly friend in New Jersey.

Why is it so important to believe that being LGBT is a choice? Is it because they hope they hope that can change themselves?

Off to the dust heap with Ms. Chan’s political career!

After I had listened to the tape, I just wonder how many people think the way they do. I know many in my family would agree with their statements. It immediately reminded of that scene in the movie Cabaret, when the German house mate was speaking-out the Nazi hateful propaganda about Jews and people of African, Asian, Indians of the Americas descent as if it was a fact. We are truly on the “road less traveled by,” and should expect such conversations by people, even if they keep their opinions only in their group. Also, I can see how if someone, as they would say an agree, who is born straight, and sees sexual orientation as a choice would be “closeted” about their thoughts on sexuality that ventures from the “status quo” in today’s changing attitudes. In the end, “Tis a tale told by an idiot, full of Sound and Fury, signifying nothing.”

I can respect a difference of opinion. I can not respect outright stupidity and bigotry. The research on the issue of gay parenting has been definitive and clear. If she did the most basic of research, she would know how out of line her comments are. She’s a disgrace.

What’s next from Texas? Seriously. Is there something in the water there that makes people stupid and bigoted? I don’t think her views are much different than Rick Perry, who has been elected governor 3 times. Really shocking and sad that people are still so ignorant. I’ll bet Miss Chan is a upstanding member of First Baptist Church.

If anything, her disgusting statements make the need for the ordinance even more apparent. Clearly, she would dismiss anyone from her employ if she found out the were homosexual whether they were good at their job or not.

Can people on here please not respond to homophobia with ra•cism, sexism, or other forms of identity-based hate?

Why make comments about her “going back to China”? Asian Americans have been in this country for over a century and a half, yet some commenters on here are acting like Asian American are not Americans, and responding to this woman’s horrible homophobic comments not just with condemnation of what she said and her power as an elected official, but to her race and gender.

Enough with the ra•cism, which never seems to come up when the story is about the hateful, anti-gay policies in Russia, to give one example. Or when the story is about someone like Ann Coulter or the Fox News homophobes.

Why is it that you can casually explain to a child that some boys like boys and some girls like girls and they completely accept it- yet grown adults, politicians nonetheless who are assumed to be of certain intelligence- are “confused” by gay people?

I can almost forgive her ignorance (hardly though), but calling gay people disgusting? Get the f*ck over yourself and go get laid b!tch- maybe then you won’t be so disgusted by sex.

She’s clearly a lesbian in denial. How sad.

I think it’s hilarious that this b/s would come out of her mouth like she’s the queen of the world. Funny how being a councilwoman can go to your head. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Perhaps she would feel better if we bound her feet and sold her to a man like they used to do in her country. Because America is obviously NOT her country. She needs to move to Russia where there’s more like her. She’s an ugly, stupid, ignorant bitch.

@hephaestion: Spare me and get over yourself. You can’t force anyone to accept a lifestyle. You can call her all the names you want and you can’t “educate” someone into thinking gay sex is not repulsive

There’s nothing wrong with being gay, lesbian, bisexual or straight. So it really doesn’t matter if sexuality is a choice or not.

      Aug 18, 2013 at 10:33 am · @ReplyReply to this comment ·

@Badger88: Because she’s not originally from America. She became a citizen in adulthood. It’s in her bio. This doesn’t mean I believe she should be sent back. It only means I believe in the truth, which is that she’s a naturalized citizen.

She does explain why we don’t allow naturalized citizens to become President.

Perhaps they are proponents of gay conversion therapy which seems both antiquated and ludicrous, yet not long ago the very notion of gay marriage was inconceivable if not downright frightening. By 1970 as gay rights became more vocal, pamphlets were produced filled with dire warnings of the dangers of homosexuality and the “coming revolution” invading the mainstream. For a look at one such homophobic comic entitled gay Blade published in 1972 that predicted an ominous future filled with gasp…gay marriage, visit
