Clay Aiken, the former American Idol runner-up now running for Congress in North Carolina, says celebrities victimized by the recent nude photo hacking scandal and “anybody who takes inappropriate pictures of themselves deserve exactly what they get.”
The 35-year-old single father made the comment to a Washington Post reporter yesterday in a move that will likely (not likely) please the progressive young Democrats he’s currently attempting to woo in his home state.
Like a true politician, Aiken also conveniently forgot to mention that he was the victim in a similar situation back in 2007, when he was publicly outed after a former butt buddy provided the press with some super sexxxy photos. “I’ve got a mirror if I want to check something out,” he said.
So as not to come off as totally heartless, he added that “of course whoever [stole and released the photos] should be hogtied,” and that “it’s unfortunate that we don’t have Internet security right now or the laws in place to protect people from pirating that stuff.”
Ok! Thanks, Clay!
I'm Black, and HiV-positive.
I agree Clay! It’s unfortunate, and the perpetrator should absolutely be hogtied, but here you are this big, huge, major Hollywood moviestar, and you have nude pictures of yourself on your own phone?
All I can think is: this world we live in is so full of hypocrisy. I mean, would you also pose nude for Playboy if you had the opportunity? I bet you wouldn’t, and I bet you’re the kind of person to talk trash about the kind of girls that do, but you’ve got nude pics of yourself to send out at any given moment when the mood strikes you to be a whore.
Clay being caught in a similar scandal doesn’t sway me against him the least. He is clearly proving that he is a stronger person for having gone through his own personal trials, and tribulations. This scandal didn’t kill Clay Aiken, and it won’t kill these girls either.

*eye roll*
know who thinks like Clay? people nobody wants to see naked, that’s who.
i’ve taken “inappropriate photos” of myself. and i got what i deserved, and what i got was LAID.
but yeah – all the “oh, you shouldn’t have taken those nude photos! i’d NEVER take nudes of myself!” folks are all the same – people nobody would ever want to see naked, ever, under any circumstances.
faux moral piety.
NomNomNom
He’s right of course. In these days of so much hacking going on its just stupid to link your nude photos to the Interwebs and expect to keep them private.
AtticusBennett
it’s also stupid for girls to wear short skirts and not expect to be raped. right? is that the logic?
seems like for some of you it is. and it shouldn’t be.
NomNomNom
You can’t link the 2 as being the same. Risky behavior has consequences. Yes, even for girls in short skirts. Its the way things are, not how we wish they could be.
AtticusBennett
it’s only even considered “risky” because people are too busy blaming the wrong people. it’s not the fault of the person who took the pics. it’s the fault of the sackless turn who steals and shares them.
people who take “inappropriate” pics do NOT “deserve what they get” – those who steal and share them do.
Saint Law
@NomNomNom: “You can’t link the 2 as being the same.” it says and then does just that.

@AtticusBennett:
The hackers aren’t the ones suffering the shame and embarrassment. If you don’t want that to happen to you, keep your private bits private.

Clay needs these leaks of nude hogtied male celebs for new jackoff material
Mike
Who?
pressuredrop
Well, we pay for these phones and use them with the assumption that they are private, so I think we should be able to do whatever we want with them. This mostly sounds like the typical “ew, sex” conservatism.
That said, if you are a celebrity, you should probably be aware that people are trying to see you naked at all times, and your phone will be the first place they check.
I have a feeling most of the younger celebrities actually DO know this, and don’t personally care about the leaks nearly as much as their agents do.
Paco
So in other words… It’s your fault the thief broke in to your house, because you had something he wanted. Don’t tempt the thief by having anything he might want to steal from you. Got it. Thanks Clay.

Clay Aiken – idiot, proven. The perfect politician.

Cam
So the guy who picked up a stranger on Grinder and fucked him in a hotel 20 min. later and got outted because of it, says that pictures a woman takes of herself on a phone that they own are “Inappropriate”
Oh sorry Prissy McPrude. Yes by all means nobody should EVER take any pictures of themselves with a piece of property that they assumed was private.
Now, were they a bit foolish for thinking that Apple couldn’t access those pictures? Sure, but in what way were those pictures “Inappropriate”?
Ugh, spare me.

@Cam:
Sorry, Cam, but there no credible evidence that ever happened any more than Richard Geer had gerbils coming out of his anus.
Cam
@NomNomNom:
Actually the guy had pictures of him, and Clay’s team never really denied it, and then the tabloid said that they had DNA evidence and Aiken just stopped mentioning it.
So where did the guy get the nude pics? And why wouldn’t Aiken easily disprove it by doing a simple DNA test?
Sue2020
Did Clay forget his own photos back in 2006? Guess he deserved it too.

@Cam:
There are no nude pics. You have to start there and then try building an argument.

Must follow the dude on Facebook.

@NomNomNom:
This is all settled, and Clay doesn’t even deny it anymore, so I’m curious….why are his crazy fans still trying to lie about this whole thing?
Get over it.
DarkZephyr
Ha. In the past, a pic or two that I have taken of myself has gotten away from me at least once but whatever. Like Atticus has experienced with his pics, my little naughty shots have gotten me many very nice rewards.
NomNomNom
@Cam:
Clay denies it and surprise surprise, so does the guy who went to the tabloids with it.

So if someone hacks into my checking account and steals my money it’s my fault for doing online banking?
NomNomNom
It is if you don’t use the safeguards available to you like there is for the Cloud. The ones that got hacked used simple passwords and passed on using 2 step verification.

Who care what this irrelevant asshat has to say about anything?

Oh, hey, I wasn’t aware that Clay Aiken was a prudish scold and an asshole. Good to know.
First things first- If, on the matter of personal control over one’s private data (whether it’s nude pictures taken for selective, intimate sharing or whether it’s your medical or tax records) your stance is anything other than “individuals’ sovereignty over their data should be respected and those who violate it should be punished,” then you ‘deserve’ no privacy yourself. If you blame the victims, you’re making apologies for whoever stole from them (and that’s what it is: theft) and if you mean to have any more consistency at all, then you forsake any right whatsoever to make any decisions over who gets to be up in your own business. Everything about you is fair game, unless you say unequivocally that “private data (including pictures) is not for anyone but its owner to share.”
The only maybe-justifiable exception is exposing hypocrisy- the public figure who throws their weight around preaching one thing while secretly doing the opposite. But unless Jennifer Lawrence had a record of telling people that taking and selectively sharing naked pictures of yourself is somehow ‘wrong,’ then no fucking way does she “deserve” to have hers published without her consent. What kind of fucking asshole thinks to say otherwise!? Clay Aiken, apparently.
Moreover, the language of “they deserve it”- to be coercively exposed- just for having intimate pictures of themselves suggests it’s a fitting ‘punishment’ for some wrong-doing. Where, pray tell, is the crime or even the harm meriting punishment in having and selectively sharing nude selfies? Whose fucking business is it but the person taking the picture, and the person consenting to receive it? (Guys who send unsolicited dick pics to women [or sure, other men] as a kind of sexual aggression, on the other hand, have at ’em if they want so badly to expose themselves and care so little for consent.) So fuck this “deserved it” bullshit, there’s nothing to punish. Don’t like the ‘phenomenon’ or naked selfies? Don’t fucking take any of yourself. And don’t fucking imagine that it’s your prerogative to tell others they can’t. Otherwise, I’m going on a diet, so too bad, I guess you can’t have any fucking cake!
And if the punishable ‘offense’ is- what- being naive in thinking that the technology could protect your data to a reasonable standard, or that people with the ability to circumvent it wouldn’t try to violate your privacy? Then fuck you again- somewhere out there in the world is someone with a gun who wants your wallet, I guess you’d better not leave your house unless you invest in a bulletproof vest and armored car! The imperfect ability of Apple to prevent a security breach does absolutely nothing to ‘justify’ or vindicate the hackers- they’re criminals committing an immoral act. If a burglar invaded your home and robbed you while you slept, would their crime be lessened or would you “deserve it” because you’d left one second floor window unlocked? Would you mother/sister/daughter “deserve” to be assaulted because she wore a skirt? The onus is not on non-criminals to minimize the ‘temptation’ to act immorally, the onus is on the ‘tempted’ to show a little fucking decency and respect and not commit crimes against their fellow man.
I can’t believe this is even an argument that has to be *made.* If you were raised by anything other than… well no, not wolves- wolves are social fucking animals… if you were raised by anything other than scum-of-the-Earth sociopaths, *all* of this should be SO obvious as to defy debate.

@imperator:
You forget that he is a celebrity who has lived under constant scrutiny and stalkers for the past 12 years. He has and is living it, unlike you who has no experience or perspective.
buffnightwing
@NomNomNom: He is not a celebrity. He is a LOSER.
Cam
@NomNomNom:
Yes Yes Yes, another crazy obsessed fan who will lie or say anything to defend their “Hero”.
Sorry, his opinion is his opinion and being prudish and trying to “Slut Shame” actresses because in the privacy of their own homes they took personal pictures is the most hypocritical thing imaginable, especially from this guy.
Typical little prudish politico pandering to the same old biddies that were his fans. If he is just saying it to get elected, then he is pathetic, if he means it, then he is beyond hypocritical and should be in therapy.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
Hey Clay! I was in support of your running for congress, but pleeeeeaaaassseeeeee don’t get all high and mighty in an effort to appeal to conserative nutbags who ain’t gonna vote for you any way……………
PS: I hate the hacker who hacked those accounts!! No guys??
jmmartin
@AtticusBennett: Aiken is the very worst sort of poster gay boy for elected office, a prude who’ll apparently say or do anything to get elected. I hope he loses. I’ll bet he has more hang-ups than a closet full of clothes.
