It’s probably best that this supposed Hollywood star is choosing to remain anonymous, as his Reddit rant just oozes with entitlement and privilege.
In a post titled “[No Remorse] I dislike my fans,” an account by the name “westmailu” introduces himself by writing, “I am an actor. Well-known. A few of my movies are among the top-grossing in history. I started out as a child actor and fortunately have worked ever since.”
Then he opens the flood gates:
- I hate my fans. Appreciate them but hate them. I hate them because they hound and harass me. I am not an attention whore. I don’t tip off the paps, party, etc. I usually enjoy being by myself. I can’t even be open about being gay. What really irks me is how fans call me by this character’s name and start touching me and asking for pictures like I am one of those guys dressed like a Transformer on Hollywood/Vine. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always chat and take a picture with a fan if they are cool or for a young fan, but most people are assholes.
- I hate the way they ask me for money and think I have money. I see these sites where fans will say I am worth like $20 million. BITCH PLEASE. I am worth more like $4 million. And I don’t even live a lavish style. Far from it. I may get four movie offers ranging from $1 – 4 million. I probably take a quarter of that at the end. Most often I turn down the higher-paying movies because they will do the most damage to your career. Sometimes I won’t get any offers. I have tons of expenses. I have to pay lawyers, accountants, family, etc. Don’t even get me started on taxes. Also, if I ever become disabled or can’t work anymore, then I am fucked.
- They think that I can get them work. No I can’t. That pisses me off more than anything.
- My life is not that glam. Most famous people are not that interesting. They’re uneducated. They’re ignorant. They’re paranoid. They’re full of themselves.
Yikes.
Aside from some probably accurate descriptions of other fellow famous people, you’ll likely have a hard time mustering up a tear for any of this mystery man’s grievances. It really is lonely up there at the top, isn’t it?
He goes on in the comments to say: “I don’t have friends. Many Hollywood people just want to party and many non-Hollywood people expect that your friendship will enrich them in some way,” adding, “can’t tell you how many times non-Hollywood ’friends’ have hit me up for money, work or contacts… I can’t even say that I am a gay guy because it will hurt my career.”
Since this clearly begs for speculation, some names like Taylor Lautner and Elijah Wood have been floated, but he could just as likely be a bored mother of four in Duluth, Minnesota.
Guess we’ll never know.

Jonathan26
Elijah Wood is too sweet to talk like that. Also too smart.
heavylifter
I agree with him, I would love the money but you can keep the freaks and stalkers you would be always looking over your shoulder for.
You would have no idea who your real friends were.
trelin
Chase Crawford. Or Ed Westwick.
ingyaom
@Jonathan26: After LoTR, Elijah must be too rich, too.
Paco
I was thinking Taylor Lautner as I was reading it, but coming out as gay could only help his career at this point. So must not be him.
scotty
who is this and why is it shia lebeef?
my money is shia labeef, the little prick cocksucker. fuck him and his horse.
Daniel-Reader
The worst is when Hollywood folks only talk industry to non-Hollywood folks – like it is the end all be all.
Dawson
Who ever this is I feel that there is a legitimacy for what he is saying. When someone is in the position of power or is famous it is amazing how many new friends they have. Look at sports for example. How many people want something from them just because they can throw a ball or catch or run fast… Many of us have had people who wanted something from us. I know many people want everyone to come out but no one knows what this guy is going through. We need to support our brothers as long as they do not do us any harm. A very small minority of our community can be very catty. I don’t thing he is an asshole. I think he is honest.
Poncho Sanchez
I think queerty hit a new low, and the bar wasn’t that high to begin with.
JaronB
I agree, Poncho. Such hatred spewed at an actor for trying to articulate how hard it is to be gay while pursuing a Hollywood career. Aren’t we better than that?
Poncho Sanchez
@JaronB: The point being, we have no idea who is posting that drivel, mum’s basement troll for all we know.
WMLA04
Could this be Hugo Weaving? He was Agent Smith in the Matrix (Key Antagonist). He was Elrond in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Elf King and Father of Liv Tyler’s character). He was the lead role in Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Gay Favorite and Iconic Movie). And he was V in Vendetta (The Lead Role though behind a Guy Fawkes mask) and most recently in the Hobbit. The only thing is I would have thought Hugo would be worth more than $4 Million but he could be understating his net worth to make himself more sympathetic. But this could also be a couple of dozen actors who have been in major movies but had “under the radar” roles.
orion2070
Daniel Radcliffe is my bet
Dave Downunder
@WMLA04: While Hugo Weaving may not be the most obviously masculine of men he is assuredly not gay and is worth much more than $4M. He has been marries to the same women since 1984 and has adult children. Aside from his movies he does some theatre work here in Sydney.
Bumper
Whoa is me. I only make 4m a year or project. What a harsh life. Of course people are going to hit you up. It comes with the territory. What a wuss. Grow up and grow a pair.
KaiMA
This one is easy, Hayden Christensen
GC1985
Lol. What a tough life. Only worth that? Then invest it in a diverse portfolio. Get into contact with a reputable broker. That could be added security. I don’t believe this article though. Sounds like some attention wannabe queen.
DCguy
I’m surprised nobody said Zak Efron. The guy keeps getting billed as a “Stud” and yet never really gets the girlfriend questions like others do.
Either way, I think to a certain extent fame can kinda suck if you aren’t REALLY wealthy, because you have all the harassment, but not enough money to totally shield your life away from it, such as people like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can.
SteveDenver
I would guess KEVIN SPACEY, but his net worth is greater than $4 million (unless he’s spent a bundle keeping his tricks quiet).
Minerva pomerantz
He is greatly associated with one character, started out as a child actor, has had steady work, but is not really rich. I don’t see anyone above that meets these criteria, sweeties.
Mandrake
@Minerva pomerantz: As Orion2070 suggested, Daniel Ratcliffe fits all that criteria.
Doughosier
Joseph Gorden Levitt.
KaiMA
Minerva, that’s why I said Hayden Christensen, He’s greatly associated with Anakin Skywalker, started the role as a kid, has been making movies ever since (albeit crappy ones) so wouldn’t be worth that much.
KaiMA
@mandrake Daniel Radcliffe is worth well over 100 million dollars
jorgecruz
I was thinking Jeremy Renner because I missed the part about starting as a child actor. I personally wish it were Mario Lopez for strictly selfish reasons. This blind item will take more thinking.
dean089
@Jonathan26: I agree, and Taylor Lautner is working on a sitcom in Britain and seems to be happy with it so he also doesn’t seem the type to piss and moan. It’s probably not someone who would immediately come to mind but once we find out we’ll say “Oh yeah, him.”
He BGB
Hum. Child actor. 4 mill. Maybe from an old kiddie show? Not many child actors still working because they lost their cuteness. Disney ? I really don’t care. But the 4 mill makes it easier.
spiffy
While it may be fun to speculate, I actually feel sad for him, whoever he is.
Roan
Major clue… fans call him by the name of his character.
Roan
Elijah Wood.
Gullibulli
OK you guys, it’s me. I hate all my fans. Wait…I don’t have any fans 🙁
fiveuses
@KaiMA: Except his net worth is $12 million and he’s in a relationship with Rachel Bilson.
fiveuses
I just thought I’d throw in my two cents here.
Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood are both worth more than $4 million… $110 and $18 million, respectively. Taylor Lautner is worth $40 million. Zac Efron is worth $18 million. Joseph Gordon Levitt is worth $45 million, and married.
Whoever this is (assuming it’s real in the first place) is probably someone who hasn’t had a big role in a while. I’m just guessing he’s trying to make a comeback, which is why he might still be concerned about his career. It would also explain why he’s taking “safe” roles. If I’m right, the $4 million he says he has is probably at least in part from residuals.
DCguy
@fiveuses:
Also though remember, the actor said that people THINK he’s worth more than he is. So maybe he is one of those guys.
The part I thought was interesting is that he says he “CAN’T” come out. Look, if you’ve been acting for that long and haven’t hit big yet, then all coming out can do is get you more attention. He’s famous enough that it will be a big deal, and suddenly Neil Patrick Harris isn’t the only one whose phone will be ringing for the “Lets hire a gay actor” rolls.
dean089
Except for the ‘closeted’ part is sounds like Shia LaBeouf. I follow Taylor Lautner on both Twitter and Instagram and I doubt very much that this is from him. He can’t be having that much fun while being this unhappy. This whole rant reminds me of something I heard when I was a child: when you point a finger at someone there are three fingers pointing back at you.
