Colorado Senate Approves Civil Unions Bill, Deciding Anuses Are More Than Exits

In a 23-12 vote, the coalition of the willing (led by Sen. Pat Steadman, pictured) inside Colorado’s State Senate approved SB172, or the Colorado Civil Union Act, sending the bill to the House, where Republicans retain a slim 33-32 majority, though at least one outlet (and Rep. Mark Ferrandino) believes passage there is expected. Why are Colorado’s gays not getting full marriage rights? Because voters there in 2006 passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. I can hear the bowels of grandmother Rosina Kovar already churning.
