Time for the Queerty Week in Comments, with five of the most compelling, thought-provoking or just downright bitchy comments that came directly from you, the readers!

“Wow, those words are as tragic as they are beautiful. I can’t begin to describe how it truly brakes my heart every time I read news about young people killing themselves for whatever reason, but even more when it’s LGBT-related bullying involved. As a person who dwelled on the thought of suicide for a couple of years, I truly wish I could reach out to those young people in need.

I volunteer in a LGBT Youth group, but it still doesn’t feel like it’s enough. Like there should be a stronger sense of “community” than going to the scene, talk about pride or just be queeny bitches to each other. Even as an adult I feel profoundly disappointed at ourselves as a community sometimes. I can’t imagine how an impressionable young person with low self-esteem issues can take it. Wait, actually, I can… and it’s overwhelmingly terrifying.”

“Actually, I’ve been actively contacting nonprofits with the idea of starting one aimed just at LGBT youth. Everything from getting them out of toxic home environments to [making] college decisions. As someone who recently came out of the college system, I am well aware of ways to get help.
