Apparently, part of trying to make American great again involves suing people who suggest that you have a small penis.

You may have heard about artist Illma Gore, who painted a remarkable image of Donald Trump bellowing in the nude. His dick, in the image, is fairly nubbish, and so we all had a good long laugh at the whole thing and assumed that the story would disappear into the mists of the internet as these things usually do.

But not so for Illma. She’s like to sell the painting, but exhibiting it in the United States has proven complicated due to threats. Trump supporters have been sending her messages about rape and death, so she’s slipped away to England with her artwork. For now, it’s hanging at the Maddox Gallery in Mayfair, London, where current bids for it are up around $140,000. Hundreds of people have been lining up to see it. (Apparently they don’t know that you can see all the tiny penises you want on the internet from the privacy of your own home.)

But it gets worse: according to the artist, Trump’s legal team (or someone purporting to be from Trump’s legal team) has contacted her with threats to sue if the painting is sold. What? Really? Yes, apparently. She said she’s had two separate calls threatening lawsuits. Various websites have also deleted the image, from Facebook to Ebay, due to anonymous complaints that it violated some kind of copyright.

According to Illma Gore: “The reaction, especially in the UK, has been incredibly supportive. Everywhere apart from America has been great. Who knew it would be such a big deal? I think an artist’s job is to take the times we’re living in and then set the scene. It is a representation of where we are.”

It sure is. What times these are. What magnificent, horrible, unbelievable times.
