Czech Republic’s Former PM Mirek Topolanek Insults Gays, Resigns as Conservative Party

Mirek Topolanek, the former prime minister of the Czech Republican, stepped down from his seven-year chairmanship of the conservative Civic Democratic Party (ODS) after he told the gay magazine Lui, during an “informal” chat, that a gay person is someone who “gives in when he faces a serious problem.” Also: Sitting Prime Minister Jan Fischer is “simply a Jew; he’s not gay and he gives in even sooner.” He’s come what insiders describe as a “burden” for the party.
