SOUNDBITES — “I’ve been in a relationship for a while now, and if you just met the two of us together we’d be ‘gay.’ But that somehow means anything that happened before [we met] didn’t count—and I don’t feel that way. I know that some people feel that way. They were with women, but it always felt wrong. But it didn’t for me. It felt right at the time. It didn’t work out, but it also didn’t work out with other men—many times. That’s why ‘gay’ never seemed right.” —Ugly Betty actor Michael Urie, who’s previously been a bit coy about his sexuality, saying he’s nothin’ but queer (via)

ummm huh?

Hey Michael, guess what? YOU’RE GAY!!! What an idiot. And what an assanine thing to say.
romeo
What a fascinating way to cover your ass. I’m speechless.
Tommy
I totally understand where he’s coming from. Of course I’m sure on here there will be nothing but hateful judgmental comments.
Some people do struggle to come to terms with their sexuality. The gay community is way too harsh on people like that. Why do we have to be just as judgmental and condemning of people as the homophobes we are fighting against? People are human and they experiment with different things before they find what works for them. Get over it and stop making everyone conform to a political agenda.
Tommy
It sounds to me he’s bisexual not gay. He had relationships with women in the past which seemed right at the time, but now is in a relationship with a man.
But we all know about the biphobia in the gay community and how everyone says a man can’t really be bisexual and must be lying if he says that.

Tommy, I tried sex with women on two occasions, merely out of curiosty. It was ok, but really didn’t do that much for me. I’m a gay male and I don’t think my two experiences with women made me bisexual even though I was prepared to try a woman. I have no further desire for the opposite sex.

This is from The Advocate. Not that David could bear to type those words, even to put up the link. Nice work not giving credit to the legit news source this came from.

Jeez, do we really need to have retread this “is he or is is he not bisexual” debate again?? That leads into the following two lines of thought over and over:
Person A. “There are no real bisexuals!”
Person B. “Everyone is bisexual!”
That goes back and forth, until you die of boredom, or just die.
Possible, more interesting better topics:
1. Does it matter that Michael U. is “queer” when playing Marc on Ugly Betty? Is the character “too gay?”
2. Will Michael U. ever be cast for a more “butch” role elsewhere?
3. When do Betty’s braces come off?
4. Is the character Marc “just a stereotype?”

And yet again, some of us bitch and moan when a celebrity comes out because they didn’t do it the way we wanted, or said the wrong thing, or weren’t well known enough, or some other nitpicking thing. I sometimes wonder why any celebrity bothers coming out.

@Lukas P.: Lets not get back into the bisexuality debate again!…….. : P
Methinks Michael is stuck in some kind of pre-Ellen time warp, Its ok now Michael, you can utter the words “I’m Gay”! We promise! Every role he has ever been in he has played Gay whats the big whoop? He was actually pretty good in a pre-Betty movie called I believe WTC View. Plus he is kinda sorta cute………..
And another Betty topic: Are they gonna actually let Justin come out? I thought the charachter was about to do so and then he proclaimed he wasn’t Gay…………
Lukas P.
@TERRWILL: Justin will come out on his own terms and his own schedule.
Translation: the episode before the grande finale. Just like the rest of us!
Michael Urie is talented—and handsome in his own way [better in black and white than in color] but I think his character’s pairing with “Amanda,” played the young Ms. Beckalicious Newton brings out the best in both actors.
If he wants to call himself Queer instead of Gay or Bi, then that his right. None of us can know the details of how his sexual identity is wired or configured.
I’m glad that Ugly Betty is on TV, makes me laugh, and employs such fantastic actors and writers. I’m glad that Latina women, Hispanic men, Black women, an effeminate boy, gay men, doughy str8 men, and the publishing world can have their spot in primetime. I.m glad Vanessa Williams and Judith Light are a) still working and b) showing us tough, powerful horney women on TV! Also glad that the show is brought to you by the color orange.

It’s not our right to tell people what their identities are. Maybe he’s in denial, maybe he’s bi, maybe he’s straight?
Who cares?

@Lukas P.: (I love not havin to copy and past to reply any more..) I see you are also a Betty Boy………For all your reasons listed, I love that freakin show. I am also glad that they moved it from Tv siberia, Friday nite. Cause the lights on most shows go out on Fridays……
Steve McPherson gave it a vote of confidence yesterday, hoping that by having it in the same block as the rest of the comedys on Wed nite it will pick up its numbers. Also a great match with Modern Family, the best sitcom on Tv today……

Ugly Betty is STILL on????
Keith
I don’t believe for one single second that when Michael Urie masturbates, he fantasizes about eating pussy.
