With just two days to go before the Pentagon’s Aug. 15 deadline to collect the opinions of military personnel on whether they’d be freaked out by a bunch of homos, Defense Sec. Robert Gates is making one last stab to collect responses.
In a letter to troops, Gates asks, “If you have not yet responded, please participate. Your response will help us assess the impact of a change in the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ law and associated policy on military readiness, effectiveness and unit cohesion, should such a change occur.” And keep in mind: “Your answers will not be linked to your personal identity. No one associated with the Defense Department will have access to identifiable data.”
I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to trust him with your privacy.

My partner is in the military, and has been for 10 years. He and I have been together for 4 years now, but I don’t have a say in this survey, like other military spouses. I am way more affected by this than they are, or ever will be, so my voice is the one that should be heard. I should be the one with a survey. Unfortunately it my voice is limited to sending letters and making phone calls to Congress, only to be answered with their pathetic view on the issue.

There, again, is the proof that, contrary to the Pansy Pollyannas who wet their Calvins anytime someone pats them on the head, that the two demagogues in that picture are two-faced liars.
Gates had only 3 or 4 years in the Air Force FORTY YEARS AGO, so how the fuck would he know, but more than once the one on the right, Mullen, has said that in all of his 40 years in the military he NEVER saw ANY instance of gays serving causing a negative impact. So WHAT might have changed, Admiral Klink, that could cause a negative impact now that you have repeatedly defended this indefensible, homophobically phrased “study,” including lying through your teeth, as President Gates, excuse me, SECDEF Gates has, that there’s never been an “objective” study before?

How awesome will it be if the returns are only like 10%? It’s the loudest, non-existent voice I have seen since it’s obvious our military service member do not care and even more obvious this survey is just a huge sham.
