Famed fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead inside her Upper East Side apartment. She was 55.
Police sources say her death was an apparent suicide — Spade hanged herself with a scarf on a doorknob.
Her body was discovered by a housekeeper at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Sources told The Post that she left a note.
Spade got her fashion start in the ’80s working for the magazine Mademoiselle.
Together with her husband, Andy Spade, she launched Kate Spade handbags in 1993. The line led to more successes, and the Kate Spade brand grew into a global entitiy.
She sold the company in 2007, but launched a new brand called Frances Valentine in 2016.
This story is developing.

Yes, but was the scarf one of Hers?
Too soon?
Chrisk
The answer is most definitely yes. Way too soon.

@DCguy, it might be too soon, but you did get a chuckle out of me.
JW
Not even funny. Not just too soon, but trite as well.
Chrisk
I had no idea who she was but then again I’m not into fashion much less handbags.
I will say that depression is a bitch. Rip.

You are not into fashion, yet still find the need to share your opinion about a fashion designer you do not recognize. That is sensible.

My first thought was…how many husbands have killed themselves because their wives put them in debt buying her overpriced stuff….
paul dorian lord fredine

I would like to thank you for taking the ribbon for Biggest A**hole away from me on this post. 🙂

What a dumb thought. Probably best to not say anything if that is the best you can do.

Her story was kind of interesting. Apparently she was David Spade’s sister in law, and years and years ago he would put her bags into the SNL gift bags for the guest hosts and then she got known because celebs were carrying her bags, and it went from there.
