He-he-hello! For the second consecutive year Party Girl actress Parker Posey will emcee the New York bash Oasis, a fundraiser for the Ali Forney Center, which provides shelter for LGBT youth, on July 17 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.
“The housing and support the [AFC] gives the LGBTQ youth community is indelible to what the spirit of this city is about: the nurturing and acceptance of all of our differences and a place that allows that difference to blossom,” said Posey in a statement.
Besides the actress’ noted acerbic emcee-ing skills, there’ll be additional entertainment by Detox (pictured) from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Who knows? Perhaps her gang, Willam and Vicky Vox, will crash and perform their inescapable “This Boy Is A Bottom.”
All proceeds from ticket sales go to support the AFC’s work, which has seen challenges recently.
AFC Executive Director Carl Siciliano added, “The last year has been especially difficult for AFC — when our drop-in services were disrupted by Hurricane Sandy, to the recent Congressional sequestration. Oasis, over the last four years, has become one of our most important fundraisers. With Parker once again joining Oasis again this year, it’s set to continue to be a great event.”

I cannot stress enough the importance of supporting LGBTQ teens. When I was kicked to the curb at 15 for being gay I had to live on the streets and sell my body to survive. This negative experience forever colored my perception of my gay brothers. Disgusting slobbering old men willing to use and exploit a desperate homeless teen. Or the many times I was offered a meal and a couch only to wake up being groped and molested by the so called altruistic jerk who promised safety and delivered deceit. Just saying.
