RED-LIGHT SALE

Did Corbin Fisher Spend $500K On Gay.xxx Just To Block It?

America’s most litigious and newest barebacking porn studio, Liberty Media Holdings (aka Corbin Fisher) has purchased the URL “gay.xxx” from the ICM registry for the low price of half-a-million dollars. But before you go thinking that they’re looking to turn gay.xxx into a anal sex wonderland, you might want to know that Corbin Fisher is also a member of a Californian porn trade group that opposed even having an “xxx” domain extension for porn-related sites to begin with.

Turns out that Corbin Fisher’s parent company is also a member of the Free Speech Coalition (FSC), an outspoken opponent of the ICM registry’s push to label online porn with an “xxx” extension. Not only do “.xxx” sites cost about $100 a year to register, the FSC also worries that any government could easily choose to block all “.xxx” sites, which would seriously hurt the bottom line for any porn businesses using it. In fact, the FSC originally called for its members to boycott the ICM sale of “.xxx” URLs.

Liberty Media Holdings hasn’t yet said what they plan on doing with “gay.xxx” but considering how much Corbin Fisher likes to sue their own stars for “pirating” content, we’re betting they’ll likely turn it into a affiliate portal so they can make mad bank selling memberships to other studios who want ad space on the most popular gay porn URL in the internet’s red-light district.

Fun fact: the ICM pre-emptively blocked over 15,000 celebrity.xxx domain names such as Beyonce.xxx, BritneySpears.xxx, MicheleObama.xxx from being purchased as well as porn URLs for dead celebrities such as AmyWinehouse.xxx is blocked, as is Elvis.xxx, MarilynMonroe.xxx, JimiHendrix.xxx and OsamaBinLaden.xxx. Hilariously, they have not yet protected any corporate and organizational names.
