Did Miss J Really Refuse to Play Tyra’s Gay Stepin Fetchit?

Need more reason to love America’s Next Top Model‘s Miss J? Besides having a comp card (from his modeling days) that had him dressed as a man on one side and his drag self on the other,
J. Alexander refused Top Model producers’ request that he be that flaming gay on the judge’s panel.

In his new book Follow the Model, J reveals (relays T Magazine) that “writers and producers wanted you to say things like, ‘Oooh child, girl! Nuh-uh, honey child!’ and your response was, ‘I. AM. NOT. yeah, i’m sure i’ve seen him say all sorts of things like that. Now whether that came from him or was scripted is another thing but I swear, gurl, I saw him get all fierce, miss thang.

I like J. Alexander. I think he’s great on that show, if anything, he takes a little away from Tyra’s “when I was a model” moments. If he screeches and flames out, well so what. I don’t think he makes any apologies for who he is and has nothing to be ashamed of.
And I love it when he teaches all those wal-mart models how to walk, he sure does it better than all of them combined.
