Sadly, our “List of Things To Not Be Angry At” became an increasingly zippy read in 2016, but this new Diesel ad campaign definitely makes the grade.
Related: Underwear campaign features only normal, “relatable” models. Well, almost.
Announcing a new partnership with Indian Premier League cricket team The Mumbai Indians, the campaign features Diesel’s Renzo Rosso and the owner of the Mumbai Indians, Nita Ambani, embracing full-on preppy realness in the form of polo shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, and the like.
Here’s how that all plays out:

player”s” ? these all look like the same person

I guess they’re trying to disguise the fact that the collection sucks. And I guess Queerty chose to post the one player that they really liked, because all I see is the same model in every pic.

A pretty sad ad, Queerty. If you’re going to claim “handsome cricket players,” please show more than one man, and at the very least, one who’s “handsome,” and plays “cricket,” not some nondescript twink model. There ARE hot cricketers, you know. (Cf. the national teams representing India and Sri Lanka, the multinational West Indian team, etc.)

Wow! A clothing company using a sports figure to model their cloths– such a riveting cutting edge story.

…..do stop this very shallow declaration of gay silliness. I mean a bit of Crumpet modeling for a clothes company…er! how terribly original. Hasn’t Queerty got anything better to report??

Once again, I approached Queerty to ask them to give me a write up based on me being a gay entrepreneur…they declined because they said my success as a small business owner might be viewed as a commercial ad so they declined. I’m glad they think Diesel is more interesting and important.
