A woman named Natalie was having dinner at a restaurant in Addison, TX when she overheard the table next to her strike up a conversation.

It was a Christian couple. They were discussing their “awful, gay nephew” who “they need to pray for.” Natalie, a lesbian who used to work for the Human Rights Campaign, didn’t say anything to the couple. She didn’t butt in or try to confront the couple.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Instead, she paid for their meal then left the following note on their receipt:
Natalie left before she had a chance to see the couple respond. After posting her story to Facebook, it has been shared by nearly 60 people and liked over 600 times and counting.
“This is how we beat hate,” one person commented on the post. “I love it!”
“The world is made better by actions of compassion and love,” another person said. “Thank you!”
“This is love. This is amazing,” a third person wrote. “God bless you.”

Ever heard of context, Queerty?
By your version of this story, we don’t know what made him “awful”.
I have met and known a lot of gay people in my life, some of them were “awful” and it had nothing to do with their sexual orientation.
Heywood Jablowme
@Alistair Wiseman: Yes. You’re awful and you’re gay (or at least you claim to be) so that makes sense!
Heywood Jablowme
Yes. Maybe they consider him awful for other reasons. It’s Texas so I’m guessing he’s a vegetarian.
Xzamilloh
Wrong, bitch… that’s how you pay for a bigoted couple’s meal while virtue signaling on Facebook like the attention seeking millennial you are. “Jesus made me this way”… can we be done with this Jesus crap already? And Muhammad, bacon bits be upon him?
jkthsnk
That’s the food order for only two people!?! No worries, they won’t be around long.
JoeyRamone
@Heywood Jablowme: @Heywood Jablowme: LOL!!!!
JoeyRamone
@Xzamilloh: Right on, mofos!
canyon2129
My God, talk about a couple of pigs at the trough, hope their was third or fourth bigot dining with them.
jimmypalmieri
sorry, but i am never going to be paying for a bigots dinner. jesus? stop the insanity.
Heywood Jablowme
@canyon2129: Right? And you gotta love the “House X” (whatever that was) with “No Salt”!
@Xzamilloh: Speak for yourself. Jesus made ME gay! His pictures in church were so fuckin’ cute. I had such a crush on Him. My sister had Justin Timberlake, I had Jesus!
bobnla
This is hogwash. I don’t believe this story at all. And if it did occur, the pompous audacity to run to Facebook to tell the world how great she was…come on!
Hussain-TheCanadian
@Xzamilloh: baby who stepped on your tail?
Yes Zamilloh I’m sure the whole planet would be in a better place if we were all atheists like you darling;I mean no more human suffering, greed, rape and destruction of the environment, sexism, bigotry, racism, war (Rolls eyes).
Kieran
So she basically rewarded them for their bigotry. What’s wrong with going over to them, looking them square in the eye and expressing her feelings respectfully but forcefully? Why would you gift them $50?
Alistair Wiseman
@Kieran:
Exactly.
“Why would you gift them $50?”
Because it never happened. It is very easy to give away $50.00 of your hard earned imaginary money on people you find repugnant when you are virtue signaling on Facebook about something that never happened.
Xzamilloh
@Kieran: Thank you!!! The fuck did she think she accomplished, other than giving horrible people a gift? As far as she knows, they found that to be a sign from God that they were being blessed for being horrible people. That might have been the last money they had for that gluttonous meal and now they can go balls to wall at Cracker Barrel. Thank you, virtue signaling bitch, for inadvertently contributing to the obesity rates in America.
highestbidder
3 beverages,3 sides, 3 entrees but only 2 people? Something’s off in this story.
CaliKyle
@Xzamilloh: Best comment. Perfectly put, X.
grethomory
I don’t believe this, but to be honest, some people are stupid enough to do a good deed and run to facebook to post. I saw around Christmastime last year someone posted they gave a jacket to a homeless man and then took a picture of it. People are totally nuts these days.
John
I love the way the story has in quotes “awful gay nephew” and “we need to pray for him”….Very limited info for an “older lesbian” to hear the ENTIRE conversation but pieces of it… isn’t it awful..what happened to our gay nephew…we need to pray for him… hit by car, lost his job, depressed his bf left him, lost his job… and how many people would actually refer to tbeir “gay nephew” as “gay nephew” instead of by his name (you know all men of that persuasion are named Rick, Mark or Steve, in my best southern drawl). I call BS on the story … I have often heard part of peoples conversations next to me and misheard…like the game of telephone we played as kids….
Rob91316
So she got 600 “likes” on Facebook for this. Big whoop! I would’ve gotten 600,000 had I filmed myself slamming these cretins in the face with cream pies while telling them in no uncertain terms what horrible people they are, and that if they really wanted to help their nephew, rather than praying to their imaginary invisible sky fairy they should just kill themselves NOW!!!
Tête Carrée
50 bucks? I haven’t even spent that much on myself. Better to just piss over the divider (OK, maybe not so easy for a lesbian) and listen to them discuss why God made it rain indoors. It happened in Texas. Do you really think these people are capable of thinking? Just fart and leave the building.

When a creep pays for my drink without asking, I tell the server to keep their cash, then pay for myself. Only arrogant f*ckwits pull stunts like this.
Daggerman
…somehow in this Western World we now have to tolerate Christianity being just as stupid and unfair like the Catholic religion, these attitudes toward Gay people need to change or else there is going to be hell to pay. Literally.
GaybyGod
When’d they go low, we go high!
GayEGO
@Alistair Wiseman: You know very well that because this couple used the word “Gay”, they were discriminating against us.
GayEGO
@Daggerman: Well said!
SactoMan
I’ve seen a lot of this and always found it objectionable but never had a name for it: Facebook virtue signaling. I love it!
Xzamilloh
@Daggerman: The Catholic religion is Christianity… besides, I’ll gladly deal with our crazies than the “other crazies”… because they like to stab and set shit on fire.
takingliberties
This story is made up. I know because I work at this diner. The lesbian is always coming on to all the patrons at our restaurant and she tries to grab them in the p@@sy. It feels good the first time but it messes up our orders when there is p@@sy juice on everything, including the exit.
GaybyGod
@Daggerman: – They feel that they have the exclusiveness to God. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, THEY DON’T! God’s table have been open all along to LGBT people. After all, God created us. I. Found this out later in my life, and wish I did earlier. The blessings have been AWESOME, for me and my husband. The gay couple in this article created good karma!
“Others create they’re karma by what they do. We create OUR karma, by how we react to what they do”.

Just to be fair, people posting about helping on social media may be simply trying to remind people to be kind. Considering how much people are texting on phones, surfing the net etc. it is easy to forget about others.
Now, the last thing I would do for a homophobic idiotic couple is pay a $50 tab for them. Since I probably wouldn’t see them again, I would politely confront them. It probably wouldn’t do any good, I have enough of these discussions, but what she wrote on the receipt is going to be ignored too.
whirlaround
I completely disagree with this approach. If you want to show kindness to someone being terrible, you have to make yourself known. You cannot leave a semi-nastygram and expect someone’s mind to change. To these people, it’s likely that “gay” and “liberal” are synonymous with evil. To them, it might be as if a murderer bought them food. It’s not going to help anybody. Plus, it’s effectively making their negative words into a positive for them.
If you feel the need to interfere with other people’s affairs to help them change their minds, go up to them and talk to them. Ask them reflective questions, or leave a slightly more positive note about accepting your one’s own family without the outing yourself; because your identity is irrelevant to the act of being kind to one’s nephew. And what the heck — why would you buy them their food? What’s the point, other than to make yourself feel good?

This may come as a stunning revelation to her, but people are allowed to have opinions different from hers. I hope she also learns that good deeds done in silence are the best deeds.
If she felt she had to leave a note. I would have said couldn’t help overhearing
your conversation about your Nephew. I hope this brightens your day.
I’m off to meet my wife Cathy warm regards Sara.

Jeez, if acting homophobic will get me a free meal I’ll try it! ?
