After pulling funding from the antigay Boy Scouts of America organization last month, gay champion Disney has signed on as a major sponsor of Family Outfest, a weeklong celebration for same-sex parents and their children.
The City of Orlando will be hosting the first-ever corporate-sponsored event catered to LGBT families and their children July 1-7 this year, which Disney will help fund alongside Hilton Hotels, Macy’s, and Nickelodeon.
GayStarNews reports:
Orlando is home to some of the world’s most popular family attractions including LegoLand Florida and the Walt Disney World Resort. Add the temperate climate and sunny US disposition, and it’s easy to see why Orlando is such a popular tourist destination, not just for families but for gay and straight individuals.
As a bonus to families looking to book OutFest, the discounted rates with Family Outfest mean families can save up to 50% in comparison to booking a reservation independently.
Way to go, Disney! Just try not to laugh when all the couples start showing up.

And this has nothing to do with the $$$$ they can make my including such families. BTW, how may does it cost a family of four to go to D.World these days? Not that it matters, two Dads, they can afford it!

OMG! Here come the hurricanes, tornadoes, sinkholes, earthquakes, tidal waves, floods, locusts, plagues, petulance, the parting of the Gulf of Mexico, in other words Jesus is coming to town and it’s going to be FABULOUS!!!!

I doubt it has anything to do with money, I used to live somewhat near disneyland and had an annual pass, and trust me when I say it isn’t cheap. If disneyland is after more money they just increase ticket prices, they have no problem doing so, and have done so in the past. I think Disney is taking this step out of genuine care for the LGBT community. I’m glad they did, they’re a major force in the world and to see them on our side makes me glad and hopeful for the future of our community.
