We’re not sure if you guys have heard the heart-breaking news, but Focus on the Family president James Dobson has dropped disgraced Evangelical leader Ted Haggard “sexual counseling” from his schedule. Yes, it’s true.
The New York Times reports:
Citing a lack of time, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson withdrew Tuesday from the team overseeing counseling for the Rev. Ted Haggard, the evangelical pastor who was fired amid allegations of gay sex and drug use.
”Emotionally and spiritually, I wanted to be of help — but the reality is I don’t have the time to devote to such a critical responsibility,” Dobson said.
What’s that even mean?
Does it mean he’s too busy restructuring his politically-linked game after the Republican’s got their asses kicked? Or does it mean his powers are no match for Ted Haggard’s homo-ways? We don’t know.
We do know that if we were Ted Haggard right now, we’d be really pissed.

My personal belief is that Dobson is absolutely terrified of homosexuality, and that, knowing what he knows now, the thought of sitting face to face with Haggard is too traumatic to handle.
Dobson wrote a fairly decent book, LOVE MUST BE TOUGH, in which he gives women in difficult marital situations advice. Some of it is quite good, although it’s just common sense stuff: women don’t have to endure their husbands’ unfaithfulness, nor beatings, nor chronic alcholism, and so forth.
But the end of the book has an appendix that seems way off subject. Rather than just including gay affairs under infidelity which the wife shoudln’t tolerate, he went into a long, detailed triple-x rated description of gay sex practices. It makes for some really severe reading.
Based upon that, If Dobson were to counsel Haggard now, I think his mind would be obsessing on the specific acts Ted was committing with Mike Jones. He’d be looking at Ted’s mouth and blushing. And if he saw Ted from behind he’d be obsessing on all the rear-entry stuff.
I don’t know if Dobson is only horrified and obsessed with gay sex, or if he himself has secret gay desires. But based on his book, I think facing Haggard now might give him a stroke. So he probably took the safer option by backing out.

I just see Dobson as selfish and Haggard isn’t worth his efforts because it won’t increase Dobson’s fortune. Haggard is damaged goods and Dobson has more important things to do like hang with the guys who are increasing their empires. I don’t see him excersizing any christian love towards Haggard.

And just what would Dobson have “restored” Haggard to anyway? Maybe the self-respecting homo that God intended?
“X-Gay therapy” is junk science, and doesn’t work. Dobson is probably unwilling to take on such a high-profile risk. It certainly would not benefit his mini$$$try to have such a famous failure on his hands. If Dobson really believed in his “restoration” process, what could be a better marketing tool than heterosexualizing Haggard?
As for Haggard, the best repentance he could do is to get real about his “repulsive dark life-long obsession” and conclude that God doesn’ really give a damn about what he does with his dick.

i am very concern about the terrible human toll that this kind of hate theology will have on sexual minorities like gays ,lesbians and transvestites. A society is only as noble as how it treats its minority citizens. Christianity ( and also islam and judaism) has the capacity to degenerate into vile theofascism and theonazism.
My parents were pretty conservative people and we almost lost an older brother who was gay and who went through a difficult childhood and due to church indoctrination almost committed suicide. Thankfully we are all reconciled now , and as his younger brother I and everyone accepts him for who God meant him to be. My older brother is a physician and is in a committed relationship with another man and also they have adopted and rescued a child from an abusive heterosexual red
