Donald Trump can’t find any musicians to perform at his inauguration next month (sad!), but he’s having no trouble booking antigay pastors to stand by his side as he’s sworn in as the 45th president of the United States of America.

It was just announced that Rev. Franklin Graham will be one of several antigay religious figures who will speak at the doomsday event. Graham, of course, has been an outspoken advocate against LGBTQ people for years.
Not only did he once refer to gay people as “the enemy” and gay rights as “evil,” but he supported a constitutional amendment in North Carolina banning same-sex marriage, claimed pro-gay businesses enable predators, praised Russia’s gay propaganda law, accused Marvel’s X-Men franchise of turning kids homosexual, and once refused to buy cookies from a group of Girl Scouts because he said they supported LGBTQ equality.

Graham will be joined by a slew of other antigay bigots on inauguration day. Dr. Samuel Rodriguez of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference will also be speaking at the event.
Rodriguez, who once called marriage equality the “legal catalyst for the marginalization of Americans who embrace a biblical worldview,” will deliver the opening prayer. Alongside him will be Archbishop Timothy Dolan, who once warned that gay marriage will turn everyone Asian, and Pastor Paula White, who once accused the Supreme Court of trying to radically transform marriage “via the conduit of judicial and executive fiat.”

So far, no Imam or representative of the Islamic faith is expected to speak at the event. (No surprise there.) In fact, the only non-Christian speaker will be Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre who, thankfully, doesn’t appear to have a record of homophobia and, in fact, runs the Los Angeles’ Museum of Tolerance, which recognizes LGBTQ persecution.

People don’t watch the inauguration, let it be the least watched inauguration ever with the lowest TV ratings, tell your friends and family to do the same.

The climb up the ladder for gay folks has not been easy and it will not get any easier, but it is happening. I never thought I would see gay marriage legal in my lifetime. Well. Surprise! Surprise!! I did! YeeeeHaw!!! So the wheel is turning, slowly, but it is turning. Be patient. We SHALL overcome!!!! GRIN! Just as Trump appointed justices will slowly wear away at the protections for women afforded by reproductive choice under roe v. wade, so too will they set back the cause of LGBT rights, making certain that discrimination in the workplace and in business and housing is allowed as much as possible and eroding marriage equality.
The “christian” legal army funded by the various “family values” PAC’s are already figuring out their strategies in using an alt-right court towards their ends. Look at how the right has attacked affirmative action and the voting rights act! One must continue to fight or be overcome; losing all hard won social progress.
Don’t let them say what they want to say, keep hammering back, especially against the right wing toadies here, both those that are homosexual and those that come here as trolls and make believe they are.

There are roughly 3 million Muslims in the United States. There are 248 million Christians. the real danger in this country from anti-gay violence is not the Muslims but the Christian thugs who denounce us, call for the stripping of our civil rights and in many cases for violence against us.

Religion cannot win hearts, riding loud, political scooters off-road through politics. Any church leader beseeching senators to insert their ardent beliefs into civil laws are faithless, misguided, or nefarious. Christians, tangling with the government, may set a dangerous precedent that will bring the church under worldly dominion. Christ was not a political character, so do not expect Him to flourish in political realms, where oppression lives. Fear rides the faithless, and winning hearts becomes an afterthought. Power and might, when merely the Word suffices.
