Don’t Get Barbara Walters Started on Bruno‘s ‘Anal Intercourse’

It’s not that Barbara Walters has a problem discussing sex. Just anal sex. The View co-host may be “79” and very, very post-menopausal, but don’t think she’s afraid to talk about what they called “knocking boots” in her day. But only when it involves two men, like it does in Bruno.

Excuse me?! did she actually use the phrase “Little People” to refer to non celebs?!? Why doesn’t she just call them “Unwashed Masses”.

  • BrianZ

@Cam: lmao damn she’s such a wreck. But she did the little quote fingers and “clicked” as she said little people, so it’s all good.

And to think people are worrying about queers parenting skills when Bahbwah Wahltahs has to tell the average parent not to take their 12-year old to an R-rate movie.

  • Jack

The middle section of her face does not move. I don’t know why that surprises me…

  • Awooooo

    @Cam:

Her hand signaled the quote on quote “-” meaning it wasn’t her own thought. jfc then you guys blow up and tell people who didn’t like Bruno they’re being sensitive .

  • AlwaysGay

Barbara Walters explained what would be the typical response from heterosexuals. The worst aspect of this movie is not Bruno’s effeminate, vapid, shallow, and sexual nature it’s his provocative nature. In study after study, criminal case after criminal case heterosexuals always believe gay people behave in a way to provoke heterosexuals (and that whatever negative reaction they recieve is justified). Barbara sympathized with the anti-gay bigots because of Bruno’s provocative nature.

  • ioni

Can Joy be less funny, please?
I actually doubled up laughting at all the remarks she maked!

  • Benj

When were there “close ups of anal sex”? I can’t believe I missed that!

Also, she talks about people bringing their 12 year olds to see this movie. When I saw it there was a kid who couldn’t have been more than 4 or 5 years old. I was astounded.

  • Michael vdB

Hmmm…”R” rating and it showed pubic hair and penises and anal sex? How did the Movie Review Board overlook this one? *shock*.

  • Mr. Cox

“A 12 foot penis on the screen is not my idea of a good time. In the house yes, but not on the screen.” — My favorite part!! Thanks Whoopi!

  • Mr. Cox

Out of fairness, Barbara Walters is not homophobic. Honestly, I don’t want to hear straight people talk about their sex acts. I think its fair if they don’t want to hear about ours. So long as they support our rights. Barbara Walters is way too funny when she’s not trying to be.

  • Dabq

@Mr. Cox: I have to say I agree, the last thing on this earth I want to see, hear or know how its done is a straight couple having sex, the idea is just repulsive, but, maybe that’s just me.

I doubt if Bab’s is homophobic, she has been around enough gay men and women to realize that we are just like her, just with less money more than anything else in most cases of those in her circle!

  • hardmannyc

Exactly why Bruno is so subversive and Baron Cohen so brilliant. It forces good libs like Baba Wawa into admitting that they find men-on-men butt sex repulsive while pig-in-a-poke straight-on sex is A-OK.

  • Alexander

So what if Walters is a little squeamish talking about gay buttsex? It IS gross, and also incredibly fun. Plus, she’s like, old enough to be your grandma. Don’t diss on her for talking like this if you can’t see Gran talking about dicks and butts.

Oh, and Whoopi? I love you.

  • Rick

@Cam: You just made me laff !!! Good point.

    xx

  • Rick

Why is there such outrage about children seeing something sexual. Like they can’t already see everything under the sun on the internet? lol

Also, quite often those that are so sensitive about children seeing movies with sexual themes have no compunction when it comes to exposing them to movies about murderers and rapists or extremely graphic human violence.

    Go figure.

  • Jai

I think Barbara Wah-wah having gross straight sex with a married man caused more damage than anything a MOVIE could ever do.

  • Jack

If I’m not wrong (which I often am), Whoopi said that she didn’t want to see a twelve foot penis on the screen, but she did want to see one in her home.

Now. Is she saying that she would enjoy a 12 foot penis? Because, I mean…that’s like two people… I would die if I ever saw a twelve foot penis.

In defense of Bahbwah, Bruno did play up the sex specifically for gross-out humor. It’s a bit more explicit than, say, Good Luck Chuck, but it’s intentionally ridiculous. Shy children and fragile old ladies probably shouldn’t see it.

  • scott ny'er

    @Rick: Here. Here.

Whoopi was very funny with her comment.

  • Thomas

I didn’t expect BW to enjoy BRUNO. I don’t think a senior citizen is the film’s target audience.

I saw the film last weekend and I don’t know what she is referring to when she references close ups of anal sex. She talks about it being like porn. When was the last time she watched porn? 1959? It certainly isn’t meant for children, but the film is far from pornographic.

  • Stuff Like That

This would be kind of like someone saying of Baba’s autobigraphy:
“Oh, I don’t need to hear about her years-long interracial affair with a married Congressman. If you have a 12-year old, don’t let them read it!”

Barbara dated a bruthuh……as if she don’t know about butt sex.

  • fyi

” Honestly, I don’t want to hear straight people talk about their sex acts. I think its fair if they don’t want to hear about ours.”

Yea, but it’s not “us” talking about our sex life. It’s SBC, a heterosexual Jew looking to make a buck at the expense of gay people.

  • Thom Freeheart

It says a lot about Barbara Walters that she considers some people to be “little people.”

  • ioni

For once, Thom, Barbara obviously meant ‘ordinary’.

And secondly, ordinary people are called ‘little people’ from time to time. So let’s be fair. The dizzy bitch had no notion of putting herself above everyone, she is just confused

  • galefan2004

You are ABSOLUTELY kidding yourself if you think for a moment that every straight person is not EXACTLY the same way (except maybe a few chicks that are actually turned on by gay sex). Even our allies are turned off when the subject changes from our dressing and grooming behaviors to our actual sex lives.

It is funny that QT misses the bigger story here, and that is that Barbara (who has decades of experience understanding the pulse of this country) said that this film will promote homophobia. While the film might not be homophobic in nature (that is debatable) it gives homophobes an excuse to practice such behavior. On the other hand, Joy said that that is impossible because no one is stupid enough to think that SBC represents all gays. Apparently, Joy never met Bubba up in Kansas that already thinks that all gays are like Bruno and now feels justified in thinking that based off of this movie. My guess is if she did meet Bubba she would wonder how he could be so stupid. That doesn’t change the fact that he is still very fucking stupid.

  • galefan2004

@hardmannyc: You honestly think they needed forced? That is hilarious. Even liberals dodge the gay sex thing. Forcing them to do anything is not a good idea. Any self-repsecting gay man should know that. Then again we are talking about you here.

  • galefan2004

@ioni: Oh please, Barbara is not a cougar. She only has eyes for one man and the city he runs.

  • adamblast

    <>

He left River City the Library Bldg, but he left all the books to her.

  • hardmannyc

@galefan2004: “Forced” in the sense that her seeing the film was the occasion for her commenting on what was an already-innnate repulsion to man-on-man sex.

And that’s exactly my point: That even many “good liberals” think gay sex is gross. We’ll never have true equality until they own up that sticking a dick up an ass is no more inherently gross than sticking it somewhere else. Oh, and lots of straight men are having their girlfriends strap one on and doing it to them.

  • Cam

hey, I’m not anti-straight but I think that having sex with a vagina is cringe inducing. Me thinking my straight friends should be allowed to marry is in no way impacted by the fact that I never ever want to see pictures of the honeymoon.

  • Ian Victorian

    Little people

Oh Babs. “I’d like to thank all the little people…”

The people I have seen in the scenes look to be average height!

  • Ann

Look up “porn” in the dictionary. This movie sounds like porn & it’s today’s hot topic, but why aren’t people upset about nude women doing porn on the screen? Is this a double standard?

  • dontblamemeivotedforhillary

Stick a fork in The View, they’re done:

Barbara: Still stammers and forgets what she was saying mid-sentence

Sherri: Unbelievably ignorant and borderline retarded

Elisabeth: Argues GOP talking points memo for lack of humanism

Joy: Phoning it in and long overdue for a solo leap

Whoopi: A thoughtful curmudgeon who improvises with idiots

The View: Bringing women forward to the year 1961

Bruno: Satirical character who was #1 at the Box Office, bitches!

  • M Shane

There is just so much Puritainism that’s healthy. Both gay and straight peopleuse the anus for penitration. Straight women in some societies (Spanish ) put a glass rod or twist of knoted cloth up guys asses. One of the sexiest scenes I’ve seen is in Savage Grace where the actress gets it up the poop shoot.
We are way too prudish about what we talk about.- There are degrees of polity in doing this but, We’re not nuns yet. At lest not all of us.
I.e. Why would we noyt talk abou bonndage in a movie if it was critical to the plot.

these christians maniacs are making everyone act pristine.

  • M Shane

Oh that was jullianne Moore who ‘s hubby got her in the far end.
God look at all the stuff we watch men and women do all the time, all our lives. They may as well get used to what men do.

  • galefan2004

@dontblamemeivotedforhillary: Bruno definitely seems extremely popular. It made 30 million last week and was only in @ 2600 theaters. That is a pretty good standing.

I don’t think Joy will ever leave The View, and even if she does they have changed co-hosts so many times over the years its not funny. The View will end when Barbara decides to pull the plug on it not until then. Next year when they are still going strong, Bruno will just be a memory. In 5 years when they are still going strong SBC will just be a memory.

  • adman

@dontblamemeivotedforhillary: “Joy: Phoning it in and long overdue for a solo leap”

Hit the nail on the head. Joy is the only hetero-normative on the View who really gets it. Sex is nasty. AND, it’s fun, tittlating, humorous, and fascinating whether straight sex or mansex, unless you’re Barbara Wawa showing your true provincial and ultimately classless bias. She ran the risk all straight people do and lost, as is to be expected. Straights will sell out their own purpose and dignity at the drop of a hat when it comes to comparisons of straight vs. Gay. They are conditioned from birth to believe the socially advantageous act of doing so equals “integrity” when it truly points to the impossibility of said integrity ever motivating them at all. Straight people think they define ethics and morals, while we Gays know there are two sides to that coin…
