Halloween is over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t moon over one of the most famous costumes in cinema history: The blue gingham dress worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz goes on display today, as part of a Icons and Idols display at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills.
After the exhibit ends on November 9, the dress and puffy white blouse will go under the gavel as part of an auction that also includes a James Bond suit from GoldenEye, a copy of Marilyn Monroe’s will and the dress worn by Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted.
Dorothy’s frock is the star of the show, though, with an expected price tag of about $500,000. Last year a pair of ruby slippers were auctioned off for more than $2 million.

There must be more than one.

From another article I don’t feel like looking for now, there @yaoming: were several identical dresses *made,* but only one actually used.
