Getting booted off Drag Race was the best thing that ever happened to Willam Belli. First her Chick-Fil-et parody video blew up the Interwebs and now it looks like she’s co-starring in The Porn Brat Pack, a new film about the late porn star Joey Stefano and legendary director Chi Chi LaRue. Belli plays trans actress/director Karen Dior, (who not only introduced trans models into gay porn but transitioned into a career in mainstream television), with Ryan O’Connor as LaRue and The Artist‘s Missi Pyle as Sharon Kane, the woman in almost every bi flick from the 1980s and ’90s.
Great, now Willam has another role to namedrop!

So who’s playing Joey Stefano? Is it based on “Wonder Bread and Ecstasy”? That was anything but funny and was an interesting read about how cushy his life was one day and pathetic the next, and ultimately in the end. I remember the part about the john who really seemed to care for him and asked him not to use the money to buy drugs but maybe to see a dentist for his rotting teeth.

Well, it is obvious that someone at Queerty is friends with this drag queen in real life, and giving them a whole lot of glowing publicity for free. This is like the fifth article about this person in the last month. Still trying to work out why we are supposed to care.
Nothing wrong with that of course, this is your blog and you can post whatever you want! But yeah, just keep in mind no one really cares that much about some random drag queen that Queerty employees are friends with.
And personally, I prefer the professional gay blogs – the ones who stick to the big stories for the gay community, both US and abroad. Towleroad and OnTopMag are the two premiere of course, with Queerty a close third. I don’t even go to Unicorn Booty any more – such rubbish.

I don’t think the film will cover Joey NYC nightclub exploits and his “special appearances” at the Gaiety.

I’d totally watch this movie. It’s would be so intriguing and interesting. I remember Joey being the first gay porn star being a “star” for being a bottom. I’ve heard inside details about his last days and it’s very disturbing.

@Jarek: Hi there, I read Queerty daily and I’m assuming you mean Willam Belli when you mention the “random drag queen”. Well, I’m a big fan of his and am fairly certain that he’s headed towards even bigger stardom than what he’s already achieved. He’s very easy to look at and fairly hilarious. I like coming to Queerty for the latest news on this intriguing new personality. And if you’re coming to Queerty for serious news you’re coming to the wrong place. Although there is some real news on here it’s primarily a “fun” website, but isn’t that obvious?

I saw the last staged reading (friends with one of the actors who was just reading a few roles) they did of the script and it’s not based on the book. The writer said he interviewed everyone and the real Mickey Skee was at the reading.
Missi Pyle nails Ms. Kane and Ryan O’Connor and Willam are perfectly cast. There are some human-funny moments in the script, but it is definitely a serious drama. And the Gaiety scenes are in there as well as the whole Madonna “Sex” book thing too.
I heard that they want the computer guy from “Revenge” to play Crystal Crawford and that Matt Lanter is looking at the script for “Joey.”

God knows Willam was the most interesting thing to come out of a truly lackluster season, so good on him. Can we talk about how weak these candidates are? I mean Phi Phi O’ Hara? Really?
I had Willam picked to win before the “scandal” partly because he’s fierce and partly because he’s white and blonde ( and some queens don’t like the face that all previous drag race winners have been POC).
Too bad, but it’s not looking like he’s hurting for work.
