The post-Oscars buzz continues with some nominated and total sleeper titles from 2014 arriving on digital platforms. From the former, Foxcatcher, and in the latter category, Still Alice directors Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer’s The Last of Robin Hood, and The Humbling with Al Pacino and Greta Gerwig.

An Oscar nominee for best director, actor, supporting actor, screenplay and makeup, Foxcatcher stars Steve Carrell as sexually ambiguous, eccentric millionaire John du Pont, who enlists a pair of star wrestler brothers, Mark and Dave Shultz (Channing Tatum & Mark Ruffalo), to head up an Olympic team. It doesn’t go so well for all involved. Based on a real American tragedy, this is bleak yet completely engrossing stuff with awards-worthy performances all around. Extras include deleted scenes and making-of featurette.

While their Still Alice netted Best Actress awards for star Julianne Moore, the filmmaker-husband team of Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland had this sleeper come and go last year. Based on a true bit of Hollywood babylon, Kevin Kline stars as movie star Errol Flynn, whose has-been latter years are scandalized when he has an affair with 15-year-old Beverly Aadland (Dakota Fanning). Chock full of delicious performances, Susan Sarandon plays Beverly’s mother while out thespian Bryan Batt also appears.

When a closet case, Lewis, ends up in bed with his “straight” best buddy, Cooper, the pair commence a yearly ritual. Writer/director Mark Bessenger charts five of those nights — and their respective life changes and sexual identities — over more than a decade’s time.

Al Pacino heads up director Barry Levinson’s cinematic adaptation of Philip Roth’s novel about an aging, burned-out actor whose love for life and his craft is re-ignited by a spunky young lesbian, played by Greta Gerwig. Aiding and abetting this mix of drama and comedy are outstanding supporting turns by actors’ actors Dianne Weist, Billy Porter, Dylan Baker, and Dan Hedaya. Extras include a brief making-of.
