Actor Elliot Page’s wife Emma Portner shared a sweet message of support for him coming out as transgender, and even managed to set one trolling commenter straight, so to speak.
Portner, 26, a professional dancer and choreographer, re-shared Elliot’s coming out post and added her own comments.
“I am so proud of Elliot Page. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,” she wrote. “I also ask for patience and privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day.
“Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”

Nearly all the response was supportive, but one commenter was having a hard time wrapping their head around Elliot and Emma’s relationship and somehow deemed it appropriate to snidely question Emma on it directly.

“But now you know you have a husband. I hope you are not a lesbian,” they wrote.
Emma had the perfect response:
“I hope you know my sexual preferences and gender identity are none of your business,” she wrote. “For me to decide, thank you. Release your labels of me. I am as fluid as can be.”
The commenter wouldn’t stop, however, and continued to post unnecessary messages challenging Emma.
That’s when a fan jumped in, writing:
“Who you love is WHO YOU LOVE. It really is that simple. Emma loves [Elliot] because he is Elliot. Love is actually that all encompassing, and you seem like your life needs more of it.”

I’m not sure you are right MrM. After watching Tales of the City where one half of a couple decided to transition, the other half realized the new person was not what she was in the relationship for. It really made one ponder who was right or who was wrong or if anyone was wrong. I’m just glad for the pair in this article as they appear to be deeply in love and only want what is best for the other. Besides Elliot was the anchor actor in the Umbrella Academy. Looking back now, it’s easy to see how she, at the time, was the best choice for the part because her character was a person internally tormented for both being different from the rest and not happy in their own skin. Wish them both the best.

I know it may not be the pc thing to say but I understand where this troll is coming from. It’s delivery may have used improvement bc it’s really no one’s business what happens behind a couple’s bedroom door, but homosexuality is just that, attraction of the same gender. If you identify as fluid then it’s fine but a lot of us don’t identify that way. I’m sure this couple communicated prior to announcing but bc they’re in the public eye, had she been a lesbian, she would’ve been vilified had she decided to end the relationship and that’s not fair. Gay ppl have just as much rights as trans
