According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, nepotism is “the unfair practice by a powerful person of giving jobs and other favors to relatives.” According to Eric Trump, it’s just the way life is. So get over it!
“Nepotism is kind of a factor of life,” Trump casually tells Forbes in a new interview.
The 32-year-old is currently running the Trump Organization alongside his older brother, Don Jr., while their dad, sister, and brother-in-law run the country into the ground.
“We might be here because of nepotism,” Eric continues, “but we’re not still here because of nepotism.”
How about we take this to the next level?

If you’re confused by that, Eric explains: “You know, if we didn’t do a good job, if we weren’t competent, believe me, we wouldn’t be in this spot. … I think hopefully we earned our stripes. And I think that’s ultimately why we’re in the seat we’re in.”
Never mind the help they had from WikiLeaks, James Comey, and, oh yeah, the Russians. The Trumps are where they are because of their tremendous competence in every single thing that they do.
According to Eric, whose wife Lara was just given a high profile job working for Donald’s 2020 reelection campaign, his pops demands the upmost from everyone around him, including his offspring.
“He’s a guy, no matter where it is, he expects people to perform,” Eric says. “And if they’re not performing, he kind of encourages them to go on their way.”
This is clearly demonstrated by the people in his administration, who are doing such a fantastic job. They’ve consistently helped Donald’s job approval rating sink lower and lower week after week. (The latest polls have him at a paltry 34% approval rating, his worst yet, though we’re sure he’ll manage to outdo himself by this time next week.)

Eric continues, “You know the one thing, Don, Ivanka and I never let him down really in any factor of life. And I think it’s one of the reasons that we’re as innately close as we are.”
Close indeed:

Not sure why the article includes this part, “Never mind the help they had from WikiLeaks, James Comey, and, oh yeah, the Russians” considering there is no evidence showing that any of those 3 people were colluding with Trump or the Trump campaign.
No one seemed to have issue with Wikileaks when they were exposing the Bush administration during the Iraq war or helping defend Chelsea Manning, but when they expose corruption in the DNC and the Clinton campaign then everyone turns against them.
One could argue Hillary Clinton received help from CNN when Donna Brazile gave her debate questions before a debate, help from Debbie Wasserman-Schultz when they plotted how to make Bernie Sanders look bad over his religious beliefs, help from NBC who allowed the Access Hollywood tapes to be leaked to influence the election, help from Politico which sent drafts of articles to the Clinton campaign to approve before it printed them about her campaign and the other candidates, help from Wolf Blitzer who was going to interview Trump but received which questions to ask him from the Clinton campaign.
ChrisK
I think the Comey and Russian help is very relevant against Qusay’s BS of how competent and needed he is.
Yeah, a guy that brought us into the great recession and a war built on lies and cost thousands their lives and you want to compare that to Clinton and her emails. Wow.
mhoffman953
@ChrisK What are you talking about? I never said the actions of George Bush were equivalent in nature to emails from Hillary Clinton. You might want to re-read what I wrote
Mo Bro
Since when do they need “evidence” of collusion, M-Hoff?
To them, “anything someone said that implicates Trump malfeasance” is all the “evidence” they require.
DCguy
How cute, Mhoffman, and Mo Bro are pretending they are different people.
As for no evidence, hmmmm, you’ll have to remind us why Flynn resigned and Sessions recused himself.
By the way Mo Bro, I seem to remember you bring up Benghazi multiple times even after the House Republicans said they found no evidence. You’ll have to explain that.
mhoffman953
@DCguy
Flynn resigned over not being forthcoming with Mike Pence. He didn’t resign because he was colluding with Russia during the campaign. Flynn’s phone call in question with the Russian ambassador was after the election, not during. As the incoming National Security Adviser (still a private citizen and not a government official), he was to engage with several foreign ambassadors.
NBC news as well as many other news outlets even said there was nothing wrong or illegal in what he did according to FBI reports of the transcripts: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/fbi-finds-nothing-amiss-flynn-russia-eavesdrop-official-n711226
As far as Jeff Sessions recusing himself, he had no choice. Democrats would’ve complained that the investigation wasn’t a fair one and when the Trump campaign is found to not have colluded with Russia, Democrats would’ve complained that it wasn’t an honest investigation over this one fact. Loretta Lynch should have done the same over her meeting with Bill Clinton but instead removed herself from the decision making process only.
Clearly you buy into conspiracy theories as you continue to think that every screen name you don’t like on here is the same person.

They are where they currently are for four reasons –
1. The electoral college usurped the clear will of the electorate – I dont care if he won small States – delegates are not bound to vote for whoever wins in a particular State. They should vote for the person who gets most votes. That is democracy.
2. Interference from ‘other sources’. I would say Russia – but mhoffman will be screaming ‘where is the evidence’. But we all know what will eventually come out.
3. Money. He was backed by his multi-billionaire friends and their companies, some of whom are now in his Cabinet – surprise surprise.
4. We focused on the wrong things in the campaign. It was a mistake to focus on personality at he expense of policy.
Trump junior is living in a fantasy if he thinks they have ‘earned our stripes’. What they have earned is ridicule and contempt.
mhoffman953
@natekerchel
Problem with some of these points
1. The state electors did vote for who won the popular vote in each of their states. But we’ve already discussed that issue to death, nothing more to add to it
2. If you are going to make a claim, then yes you do need evidence to back up your claims. Then you say, “we all know what will eventually come out” as if you know something no one else knows.
3. That’s a misguided statement to say that Trump won the election based on money when in fact the Clinton campaign received significantly more money and more from big donors: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/2016-election/campaign-finance/
4. This point is true. The Clinton campaign barely focused on policy and didn’t have a clearly communicated policy regarding foreign affairs, the economy, illegal immigration, or trade. She even took an entire page on her website during the summer to condemn Pepe the frog. Proof of the lack of policy communication is shown in this analysis of commercials and advertising of each campaign: http://i.imgur.com/OLrmrzB.png

mhoffman – at least we agree on one point – that’s progress. My point about the electoral college has always been that they are not required to vote for the person who gets most votes in their State – there is no legal requirement for that. I say all members of the college should vote for the candidate who got the most votes overall – that is the democratic will of most of the people who voted. There is simply no way to justify a democratic deficit on the scale of the last election. The electoral college is outdated, anti-democratic and, therefore, anti- American.
natekerchel
mhoffman- one other thing – I did not say ‘I’ know anything concerning Russia – I wrote ‘ WE all know what will come out ‘ – and that is far from my just my opinion. But as I have always said – for now it is just an opinion I agree. But we are allowed to have opinions – still.
