Representatives for Legendary Television announced Tuesday morning that Ewan McGregor, known for his roles in Moulin Rouge! and the Star Wars series, will take on the role of iconic fashion designer Halston in a new limited series.

American Crime Story: Versace director Dan Minahan will helm the series from a script by The Affair’s Sharr White.

For the uninitiated, Halston became a household name in the 1970s for his wild, high-class fashion designs worn by beauties like Elizabeth Taylor and Bianca Jagger. Another icon of the 70s, Liza Minnelli, would eventually become his muse and close friend.

Halston lived as an out gay man and enjoyed career success through the 1980s until his death from complications due to AIDS in 1990.

Beyond McGregor, no other stars have been announced. The series remains in development and will likely begin production later this year.
