story and my revelation about no longer being homosexual and now being
heterosexual. I thank you for the time that you have spent in
considering this issue, deeply, and with great passion. God loves you.God is right there, within you, whether you like to see Him or not.
Can you humble yourself to Him? It’s a really nice feeling. I know
that, in some small way, you want to. We all do. We don’t like being
separated from our Father; it makes us sad and lonely, forcing us to
be angry, to act out, to get vulgar… well, I won’t go on; many of you
have already demonstrated, on your blog comments, exactly what I’m
talking about. ☺God love you, Yes! He does! And, He wants you to be free from
homosexuality. God made us men and women. Think about that; you could
– really – be a man or a woman! Not a strange creature… but, real!
That’s awesome… ☺Change is very difficult and takes a lot of inner strength. Do you
have that strength? I promise you that the Gay Identity does not
exist, that it is a fabrication of mankind (look it up, if you don’t
believe me), and that you are not “trapped” in same-sex-orientation.
To believe that you are Gay is to be stupid. I’m sorry, if that sounds
cruel; it’s not cruel. To believe that you are a false identity,
created by man, unnaturally, to participate in social engineering, is
to be stupid.It’s not the acts, as much as it is the Identity. No one ever told you
that, before, because they wanted to feed you with the lie that
homosexuality is a set thing. Any intelligent “homosexual” knows
there’s no fixed Gay Identity. If you don’t believe me, ask the
theorists or “intellectuals.” ☺Gay Identity has been packaged and fed to you, and – if you believe
yourself to be “Gay” – you have eaten it, preventing you from further
growth and understanding of your true and real self.Coming out from under this packaged lie requires strong

They don’t. They have to convert to Christianity. My (nineteen-year-old) brother is a hardcore Catholic fundie and spent the last year as a missionary. When I was working up the balls to come out to him last year, I asked him if he could be friends with someone who was gay. His response? “Well, Ashley, I have Jewish friends.”
Well now it all makes sense!

This is what I wrote in response to the letter on the previous post:
Michael, we may not be “gay,” but we are homosexual. It is a sexuality, just like the one the people who have clearly brainwashed you want you to believe you are now. Gay might be a manmade construct, but so is straight. Both have existed for a millenia. If homosexuality is in the identity and not the act, then clearly so is heterosexuality an identity–one you’ve decided to wear now–rather than an act.
If God is perfect and faultless, why would he give so many people a different sexuality? Why would he give us the capacity for love; or any emotion, if acting on it is sinful?
Michael, some of what you’ve written is similar to what you wrote years ago, about not labeling oneself. However, everything else is different. Your words, writing style, pacing and delivery. I don’t believe you are thinking for yourself any longer. And from past experience the person doing your thinking is not God. That worries me.
Although this post states:

which alludes to an email that I sent Mike and made the point about truth with a lower case “t.” Even though that is present, I believe Mike is sharing his emails with someone trying to do damage control and writing what are essentially press releases.
Or maybe Mike is just jerking us off and doing some sort of expose on the “reparative” therapy scam. Who knows. All I do know, is that on another board, someone made the comment that they saw Mike walking hand in hand with another man in the gay district of Halifax just last week. I’m still waiting for an email from the poster to confirm this, date, time, exact location.

That’s so funny that you say that, it’s my dream! My friends are all convinced he’s a closet case, and even my physician, who’s gay, always asks me how my gay Christian brother is doing. I wish he were gay, it would be sweet, sweet vindication. But alas, I seriously doubt it, when he was in middle school he stupidly downloaded a bunch of lesbian porn to the family computer and got caught red-handed.

He’s really caught up with language – he’s somewhat correct, the gay “identity” is a construction of language, but it’s still giving voice to a desire that is within people. ‘The heterosexual’ is as much a construction as ‘the homosexual’ (or ‘the bisexual’)- they’re labels, and they’re limiting, but language is limiting in general. But the construction of the heterosexual hasn’t been questioned because, as always, those in power or majority do not consider themselves The Other, and must set apart what’s different. There is no one identity that will fit all people – to want to jam them into one is a losing battle. You can’t hem people in because you’re ashamed of yourself.
And, also, Michael Glatze, if you’re truly so devout and humble, don’t you dare speak in the place of God. You’ll be fighting same-sex desires your entire life, because it’s normal and natural for you to have them. So, if you’re in for a lifetime of torture, I wish you luck. Just don’t take other people down with you. 🙁

To My Friends who are Trapped in Ex-Gay Movements

I agree with Mike Glatze that all “homosexuals†desire to be free. We desire to be free of oppression. I put quotations around the word homosexual to emphasize the disadvantages that burden us. The word “homosexuality†has its root in the medical literature as a label used to describe symptoms of gender and sexual non-conformity; just another attempt to marginalize those who do not meet social requirements. I do not identify as homosexual because I am not sick.
I agree that all sexual minorities desire to be free because I have faith that all people who identify as non-heterosexual, whether they identify as bisexual, lesbian, transgender, gay, queer, butch, dyke, genderqueer, genderfucked, want to live in a society that doesn’t (in the words of Beth Dito) stand in their way of control over their own identity.
Furthermore, to talk of a God who is singular, who is constant, and who is removed from historical interpretations is questionable. A little investigation into religious history will show that God is a concept that is in constant negotiation, never removed from the zeitgeist of the time. To quote Carter Heyward:
“We are born in relation, we live in relation, we die in relation. There is, literally, no such human place as simply ‘inside myself’. Nor is any person, creed, ideology, or movement entirely ‘outside myself’.â€
I cannot believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible because I agree with Carter Heyward’s argument; it is not removed from the politics of humankind. If you disagree, ask yourself why some gospels, such as the Gnostic gospels, were not included in the traditional canon.
And because God and the Bible cannot be taken out of the context of the historical period, neither can the concept of sin. Are all canon law’s followed today as they were at the time they were recorded? No. Who decides what law is followed and what law is not? Who decides what are naturally a man and woman? The current western construction of a TRUE woman is very different than it was three hundred years ago before the romantic period. While today, women are seen as opposite to men they were once considered to be the same – only of an inferior quality; gender is not as stable as we might think.
Religion is a discourse open for interpretation and I argue that any inhibition of queerness as a valid identity is based not on canon law but on the current power dynamics. It is up to all those who are somehow against the tradition, who feel left out to stand up and fight for their right for equality in religious institutions. God is not the property of oppressive Christian theology. Faith is for everyone. We should not/will not accept salvation only on the condition that we change ourselves to assimilate into a cohesive group to appease those in power. So stand up and question the bible, the religion, and the idea of absolutes. Too often absolutes are presented with nothing to back it up.
