Because, even if he doesn’t actually return to the police force, he feels, as I would, that he has a moral duty to fight the injustice and discrimination that he was subjected to.

Mr. Verdugo, I would not want you as my partner were I a cop on a tough beat in any inner-city. No, dear, you look more of a joke in a cop uniform than someone who is be respected. Suppose a scenario where you and I have walk up to a man who knows once he is cuffed he is going to spend the rest of his life in prison or face the death penalty. You do not have the look of authority and might get your (me) partner killed.
They made a wise decision to send you on your way. The police, fire and military are not for sexual fantasies.
