Producer David Furnish– the husband of Elton John–along with director Dexter Fletcher and star Taron Egerton have all assured wary audiences that, contrary to hysterical rumor, the film will in no way tone down the racier elements of Elton’s story, including his sexuality. This exclusive clip obtained by Queerty teases as much, as Elton (played by Egerton) and his future boyfriend/manager John Reid (Richard Madden) meet for the first time and feel an immediate sexual attraction.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Produced by Paramount studios, Rocketman stars Egerton, Madden, Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard. Director Dexter Fletcher has used a surreal approach to the material, on par with the wild spectacle of old Hollywood musicals to explore the mind and legacy of Elton John, one of the world’s great living gay icons. The film opens in cinemas May 31.
